CHAPTER TWELVE More deputies entered the room as she spoke, and Ilse felt the shivers along her spine spread to her fingertips. She shifted nervously, dusting at the bangs over her maimed ear and glancing askance around the room, trying to both make eye contact and not stare at anyone in particular. This, gauging by the number of law officers in the room, was an all-hands-on-deck sort of situation. Now, she stood next to a white board, a black marker in one hand and an eraser in the other.
