Chapter 6

Alissa's POV

"We're out manned. We need to retreat and seek for shelter or we'll all die right here" our Alpha mind linked us.

My heart sank inside of my chest.

"We need to hurry. The other rogues will be here soon" Griffin agreed.

"Everyone, retreat!" our Alpha commanded.

We've been fighting and defending our pack lands without stop and the rogues just kept coming and coming.

I still have fight in me and a lot of it but not everyone in the pack is capable of fighting for as long as I can.

Most of our members are not as young or resilient and now we're down to 1/3 of our original numbers.

In the end, we had to retreat so we can think of a different approach to the situation.

The scent of new rogues invaded my nostrils as we made our way to a safe house.

"I need to get to the kindergarten, Alpha. I need to protect the pups with Denisse. She won't be able to do it alone if worse comes to worst" I mind linked the Alpha.

"Go" he replied.

"I'll go with her, Alpha" Griffin said.

"No. You're needed by the others more. Stay with them. I'll be able to handle the pups with Denisse" I mindlinked Griffin.

I separated paths with the others as I ran as fast as I could to the kindergarten.

As soon as I got there, I saw 3 rogues sniffing around and trying to get in.

I growled loudly to get their attention and I did.

They turned to me and made their way towards my direction as they growled aggressively.

They started to circle me and I stood my ground.

They were growling and snapping at me as I watched their every move.

Suddenly, one jumped at me from above.

I ran at it and slid below it then chomped on its stomach then threw its body to a tree making it whimper in paid.

The others immediately became more aggressive as they saw what I did to their pal.

I prepared myself and they attacked me from both sides.

I waited and then jumped up in the sky so that they collide to one another and they did.

I landed just beside them and immediately sensed that another was attacking me from behind.

I turned behind me and just before the other rogues bit me, I lowered myself and then attacked it with my body hitting it in its neck.

It started choking as it stepped back and to the side then fell on its back as it continued to choke.

Then another rogue immediately attacked me but I was way quicker than it was.

I caught its next and without any hesitation, I ripped it off its body.

Now, just one remained.

We faced each other and I could already see the fear in its eyes at it looked back at me.

Maybe they never anticipated to meet someone like me in such a small pack.

Just before I was ready to finish the rogue, it suddenly turned back and ran away.

Not in mu watch.

I chased after it.

I'm sure that it will come back with more of his rogue pals and I can't let that happen.

I can't let anyone go closer to the kindergarten or else they'll be able to know where the pups are.

I'm not going to risk that because I am willing to give me own life for those kids so I'll protect them with all that I have.

I chased after the rogue and once I caught up with it enough, I jumped at it so we both came tumbling on the ground.

I immediately got on my feet and didn't waste any time to jump on the rogue again and pinned it to the ground.

But suddenly, strong scents of rogues invaded my nose and the next thing I know, another group of rogues came out of the bushes.

I got distracted and was slashed by my neck.

I whimpered a little as I jumped off the rogue and slightly stumbled back.

Blood came dripping from my neck but it started healing immediately.

There were now 6 rogues circling me like I was their prey and in this state, I was.

I've already used so much of my energy already from earlier and I can only give so much more before my body gives up.

What am I supposed to do now?

Is this how I'm gonna go down?

In the hands of rogues and in the middle of defending my pack?

The rogues continued to circle me and my neck was taking its time to heal.

Am I really going down like this?

I sighed inside.

No.

I need to fight more and get back with the others.

I need to survive.

For this pack and for myself.

I went into a defensive stance and as soon as I did that the rogues began to attack me.

I dodged their attack one after another and defended myself by clawing them or biting them but it wasn't easy.

I got scratched again twice and got bit on my hind leg.

I was already breathing heavily as I struggled to move because of my injured leg.

I was able to kill 3 of the 6 rogues but my body was slowly giving up on me.

"Please hold on a little longer" I encouraged my wolf.

The 2 rogues attacked me head on and I defended myself.

"Alissa, where are you?"

I heard a familiar voice in my head.

"Aunt Livi?" I replied.

"Yes, Alissa. It's me. Now, tell me where you are"

"East of the kindergarten in the woods" I replied as I continued to fight off the rogues.

"And Aunt Liv...please hurry. I think I'm almost over" I added.

Just before I could hear from Aunt Liv again, I suddenly flew to a tree because of the impact of a rogue colliding with me.

I hit the tree hard with a whimper and my body fell to the ground with a loud thud.

I gasped as the pain traveled my whole body.

My sight became blurry and I could barely breathe.

All I heard was growling and snapping along with the scent of the rogues.

I tried to move my limbs but couldn't.

My body has reached its limit as my vision became more and more out of focus.

I could feel my wolf reaching out to me but I was too weak to respond.

Just before I closed my eyes completely, I smelled the most wonderful scent I've come upon in my life along with an unknown figure.

And with that, I let myself rest.
