Perfectly Imperfect

Chapter 2

Destiny POV

I heard my alarm clock go off indicating that I had to get up for my first day of my senior year. I got up and went to the bathroom to do my business. After brushing my teeth and taking a shower, I walked back into my room. I looked at the time and I had at least an hour. I lotioned my body with Twilight Woods lotion then got on my black lace bra and panty set. I got out my uniform which consisted of a khaki pleated skirt with a navy blue polo shirt and my low top converse. I quickly brushed my hair into a ponytail and applied some lipgloss. I grabbed my bag which I packed the night before and headed out my room. I saw a note from my mom which made me smile. Have a great day at school honey, Love mom.I smiled and placed the note down. I grabbed myself a bowl of cereal and ate it before getting up and grabbing my sweater. I grabbed my keys and headed out. I walked out the house and locked it the door.

I arrived at school and headed inside the building. I walked towards the grade twelve hallways to find my locker. I pulled out my papers and looked for my locker. I found it and placed my things inside. I placed a few pictures on the inside of the door. I felt someone staring at me and I looked up beside me and saw Tysun staring at me. At school he made me feel so small.

"You are in front of my locker." He said. I looked at where my locker door was and it was in front his locker. I quickly moved it and stayed quiet. Soon Brianna, and Shaun came over.

"Hey Destiny." Brianna said. I ignored her and continued to pack my things. "I know you here me talking to you." I still didnt answer. "Why you gotta be such a b***h? All I said was hi and you cant even say it back. Then you go wondering why nobody talks to you." She yelled. I knew she had everyone's attention cause she was naturally loud. Plus I could hear the side comments coming from people saying that Im not gonna do anything. I would do something but I couldn't. I sighed, grabbed my phone and my headphones. I closed my locker and as I was about to walk away I was tripped. I basically made a thud when I hit the floor. I looked up and saw that it was Shaun who tripped me. Boy did I want to punch him in his face. I got up and dusted myself off. I heard people laughing so I just ran out. I went into the auditorium and sat down on the bleachers. I just started my first day and it was already horrible. I just wanted this day to end.

Tysun POV

I watched as Destiny got up and ran down the hall. s**t got me feeling some type of way but I didnt react. I placed my things in my locker and closed it.

"She can be so annoying." Brianna said.

"Then why are you friends with her?" I asked.

"We met in sophomore year and she looked like a loner which she is but I just keep her around for when Im bored." She said. Soon my bae Tayanna came up to us. She kissed my cheek and I gave her a hug.

"Hey Tay." Brianna said.

"Hey Bri. Hey Shaun." Tayanna said.

"Good Morning students. May all students please make their way to the auditorium for the first day of school assembly." The announcement said.

"Lets go." Brianna said. We headed toward the auditorium and sat down where the seniors sit. As everyone got seated, I spotted Destiny leaving. Deep down I really did miss her as my best friend. We use to be close and I use to have a crush on her. I always told myself that I would make her my girlfriend when we were in high school. But that didnt happen. Now I didnt speak to her. I decided to go see whats up. I did feel a bit bad for not speaking to her at the movies but I personally didnt know what to say. Its been at least three years since we were that close, plus Tayanna was on her way and I didnt want any problems.

"Imma be back." I said getting up.

"Where you going?" Tayanna asked.

"Dont worry about it. Ill be back." I said. She pouted at me but I gave her a quick kiss before getting up. I ran out the auditorium in search for Destiny. I walked down the halls until I saw her walking slowly with her head hanging down. I ran up to her and stood in front of her. She bumped into me and looked into my eyes. She looked intimidated then she got angry and pushed me out the way. "Yo! Im tryna apologize to you." I said. She didnt say anything to me. She just continued to walk away. "Destiny!!" I yelled. She didnt even turn around. "You know what, you are a b***h. People tryna talk to you but you so damn stubborn and ignorant. Imma let your fat ass stay a loner." I said. She kept walking away from me. I walked back into the auditorium and sat down with my friends. But I just couldn't get Destiny off my mind.

Destiny POV

I laid on my bed and cried. School has been over for three hours now. I just stayed in my room and cried for hours. I couldn't believe that Tysun would say that to me. It brought my esteem so low when he just yelled that out loud. I felt so low at this point. I never felt so bad about myself. I always thought there would be hope for me because I always kept the thought of Tysun telling me when we were younger that I was pretty and any guy would be lucky to have me.

Flashback

"I dont want to go to the dance." I said. Our middle school dance was tomorrow and I didnt want to go.

"Come on Desti." Tysun said.

"No."

"Why not?"

"Well first off I dont have a date. And secondly look at me. Im fat and ugly. No one would want to go-"

"Stop it. You are not fat. Your thick and beautiful. Dont be hard on yourself. Any guy would lucky to take out and have the chance of spending a couple hours with you. Your perfect." He said.

"You think so?"

"I know so." He said kissing my cheek.

Flaskback Over

I thought that he would have had my back at the very least. Ive already given up on the dream that me and him would be a couple but I thought he would still be my friend. I got up and went into the bathroom to wipe my face. I looked at myself in the mirror and dreaded what I saw. The tears ran down faster. I wish I could be skinny. I wish I didnt have to shop in the plus size sections of stores.

"Babygirl what wrong!!?" I turned around and saw my mom. She turned me around and wiped my tears but they kept falling. "Please talk to me."

"Mama, am I fat?"

"Hell no. You just got meat on you. Your thick. Not fat." She said. I rolled my eyes. I was tired of hearing that.

"Yeah, saying Im thick is just another way of telling me that Im fat ma. Im ugly too. And-"

"Listen to me!! I will not allow you talking yourself down in this house. You are a beautiful black thick woman. Look at yourself, you are gorgeous. Any man would die to have you." I sighed. "Listen to me babygirl. You are beautiful no matter what." She said before leaving me. I looked at myself one last time and tried to see the beautiful me. I didnt but took my mom's word for it.
