At nine sharp the next morning Pattie was rapping on Neil’s front door. When he opened it, he almost laughed. She was wearing a pair of coveralls two sizes too big for her and a red bandana wrapped around her curly white hair. “Ready to tackle the wallpaper?” he asked in way of greeting. “As long as there’s plenty of coffee,” she replied, marching past him into the entryway. “Marshall here yet?” “Right behind you,” the man in question said, coming into view at the bottom of the steps. “And I second the idea of coffee,” he added as he joined them. Pattie looked at the two men who towered over her, both of them wearing old jeans and tight T-shirts. “At least I’m going to have some eye candy while we work.” “Pattie!” Neil snorted in amusement. “Hey, I might be old but I ain’t dead yet.
