Williams kept looking at his phone and hoping that Diana would call again. He had been both surprised and happy when he got her call but before he could speak to her, he heard Derrick's voice insinuating that she wasn't allowed to use a phone.
The fact that Diana called him and that Derrick was putting restrictions on her meant that their relationship wasn't what was portrayed before the media. He had known and felt it in his heart.
