(Darian's POV)
I didn't legally marry Diana, but she thinks we did and so does everyone else. Technically vampires can not marry humans and that's okay with me. No one could ever replace my beloved but this village of humans look down upon widows who do not remarry within a few months. Who could ever be over someone so soon. I needed everyone that are asking questions to mind their own business. I faked our marriage to stop the rumors and so that their human scent can cover up the strong royal scent coming off my little girl. Trackers from the kingdoms have been seen around town and I can not have Avery found until I am ready.
On her eighteenth birthday I can finally introduce her as Celia and I's baby girl. The heir to two of the Vampire Kingdoms. The most powerful royal vampire to be born.
That reminds me, I must go to the witches store and get a new amulet. Avery's old one is starting to let her scent leak out. I can not have that.
I can see Avery is displeased with who I have brought home and I do not blame her. They all seem greedy and stuck up. Royals are better than that. We need kindness and understanding. We need to be stern at times, stict when we are not listened too, one thing we taught our daughter was your heart is always right. Follow and lead with your heart. Never let your beloved, soul mate pass through your fingers.
I know that if it was not for Celia and I's daughter, I would have never lived this long. I would have joined my beloved in the afterlife. I miss her so much, it tears my heart apart.
"Darian, Are you even listening to me?" Diana screeches as I rub my temples with my index fingers. What ever does this wretched woman want?
"Yes dear?" I question with a fake sweet smile. It is so easy to make a human believe you.
"We need more money, you must work harder." Diana states as if I do not have money. I may not look rich but we are, though I would never tell her that. Greedy woman would try to get her hands on it. What Avery does not know is half the time I go out to work, I am really leading the kingdoms gaurds off our trail.
"Of course dear. I will set out in two days for another run." I say with fake sweetness. As she kisses my cheek and thanks me. Running off to tell her spoiled twins.
It took all my strength not to rip all their heads off when they practically demanded for my daughter's room. Then to speak down about her, as if she is below them. She is higher than anyone. Usually vampires have fast speed called zoom and mind reading or emotion reading. Then the Royals have one power and one element power on top of that.
For instance, I can control fire and my beloved could control earth as our elemental power. Then I can levitate as my special power and my beloved could move things with her mind, called telepathy.
Avery our daughter though is special. She is different than other Royals. She can zoom, read minds and emotions like normal vampires. Instead of like other Royals and only having one element, Avery can control all the elements, earth, fire, water, air and metal. She can levitate like me too but we had to put a lock on that power and mind reading with the amulet, due to her not being able to control it. She would blurt out answers to questions only stated in your mind and she would levitate while she slept. We could not have that. She can also do telepathy like her mother. Plus she can teleport. She has so many powers and she hasn't even hit eighteen yet.
What if she gets more? What If we have not trained her right? What if she isn't a good ruler?
I can't think like that. I have faith in Avery. She will be an amazing Queen and rule both kingdoms fairly. She's sweet, caring and kind like her mother. Then she also has determination, great judgement and the perfect masking of her feelings from myself.
She will be amazing and I can not wait to meet the man who will be her beloved, soul mate.
She is one perfect little girl we made, I wonder what her beloved will be like. Will he be kind and fair like Avery? Will he love her unconditionally and always put her first? When will she meet him? Will he be what she wants? Will she forgive her mother and I for never telling her that she's a vampire and a royal for two kingdoms?
A screech brings me out of my thoughts as I turn towards the doorway. "Oh gosh, oh gosh. The girls are so happy. Daphne needs you to bring back pearls and satin, Delilah needs you to bring pure woven cotton in every color and jewels." Diana screeches happily. As I said greedy as hell, my daughter only asks that I come home safe and keep in touch. These insolent gold digging tramps are insufferable.
"Of course, my dear. Anything my beautiful wife and new daughter wish, they may receive." I say with a fake cheerful tone, with a smile plasted on my face.
"Thank you, thank you. I will go tell our girls." Diana says as she runs off. Always excited over material.i sigh in annoyance.
A soft gentle knock comes at my door and I know exactly who that is. "Come in, daughter."
"How did you know it was I, father?" Avery asks with a smile on her face.
"Well I believe your the only gentle one in this house." I say happily and truthfully.
Avery giggles lightly, then looks at me with a sparkle in her eyes, "I apologies for listening but I over heard Diana telling her daughter's that you are leaving within two days time. Is that true?"
Oh my sweet girl.
"Yes, princess but I will be back within a weeks time." I say sadly. She is always upset when I leave.
"Of course father I understand. please just stay warm and safe. Also remember to come home to me. I love you, father." Avery says as she kisses both my cheeks and gives me a hug.
"Yes I will, princess. Would you like anything? Apparently your step sisters would like a bunch of things." I say in slight annoyance, they just met me today and think they can ask for anything they want.
"No thank you father, I just want you to come home as soon as you can." Avery says sweetly with concern echoing in her voice. She tried to cover it, but I still caught a hint of it.
"How is the attic princess?" I ask with concern.
"I am fine father. I covered the hole and moved all my belongings there. Diana said she did not like the vase in the kitchen which was mother's so I moved that to my room too. I hope you understand why I can not throw it away. I will place the insulation up tomorrow and hopefully that will warm the room up." Avery says happily covering her other emotion to well for me to figure it out.
"Alright princess, I appreciate all you have sacrificed and everything you have dealt with to accommodate our new guest. Good night." I say to Avery with pride. She will be an amazing Queen.
"Good night, father. I love you." Avery says with a huge smile and walks out of my door way, heading to the attic.
Only two years till Avery is eighteen.
