“You never told me your name.” Miles had left Mason sitting in a chair while he went off to fetch a fresh dressing. The new patient sat two beds along. He looked marginally better. Some brightness returned to his eyes, at least. “Mason. Friends…” Mason broke off, chuckling at the idea he had friends. “Most everyone here calls me Mace.” “Mason what?” No one ever inquired and he never told. He hesitated, glancing toward the door. “It’s what Mason, and it’s Mickey.” Mason kept his voice soft. Kyle raised an eyebrow, although within a few seconds, the small movement appeared to tire him. He mouthed, Mickey Mason. “You tell anyone, I’m going to track me down a cage.” Mason regretted his words as Kyle winced. “I don’t mean it.” “I guessed not. Still…” “Yeah. Stupid of me. Been a long day
