Chapter 11

1759 Words
When everything changed... Rory I'm still in shock... The day we waited so much arrived. But nothing came reality from what we dreamed about. I slowly got out of bed feeling no change in me. Somehow I hoped that today I will feel different, but even my wolf was quiet, which was unusual from her. I glanced at the bed on the other side of the room, but Asher was nowhere. I got dressed just like on any other day. I pulled on skinny jeans and a large t-shirt and rushed down the stairs. The Packhouse was so silent like there was nobody inside. I slowed my pace and walked down to the main hall. All the decorations were taken down, the tables disappeared and nobody was near. I walked to the middle of the room and recalled what happened yesterday. Everything went pretty smoothly until that young Alpha addressed me in an inappropriate way. That was when Asher went nuts and almost killed him. I looked around one more time and let out a long sigh. I felt strange and uneasy, something was off. I went to my father's office and hesitantly knocked on the door.  - Come in Rory. -his voice sounded so blue and worried. A shiver ran down my spine while I opened the door and my wolf got alerted. When I stepped in I felt the atmosphere getting ice cold. Our parents were sitting next to each other and mom wasn't on dad's lap. Asher sat in front of them and I saw in his eyes the desperation. Mom nodded for me to take a seat next to my brother and I did as she wanted.  - Children, what happened yesterday was awful. - dad started and Asher growled.  - Asher Hill, don't you dare to growl at me! - he used his Alpha voice. We trembled, although we heard our father using this tone, he never used it with us. Asher's eyes darkened and he stood up looking down at our father, they both showed their teeth and my brother hissed. - Don't be a hypocrite father! You would've done exactly the same thing! - I looked at my mother and we both had the same expression which was pure shock. Dad growled loud at Asher and stood up hitting the desk in front of him with his fists. - How do you think you are talking to?! -he roared and Asher kept of his poker face. - With my father. - dad frowned and asked. - And? -Asher grinned and by the way, his eyes shined I saw that not only my brother was in charge at that moment. His wolf Reagan was also close to the surface. - There is no and. - mom stood up and put a hand on dad's shoulder which was now trembling in anger. Asher clearly went against our father as his Alpha. I grabbed his hand and pulled Asher back to his chair. Mom did the same with dad and silence hit the room. Dad was furious, but I felt that he loved us a lot and he was more worried than angry so I calmed down a bit. For a second I thought he will banish Ash from the Pack for disobeying the Alpha.   To break the awkwardness I turned to dad. - I assume we won't have a birthday party after all. - mom gave me a sad smile and dad's expression also changed to a similar one.  - No baby girl, we are really sorry.- dad said and Asher turned to them again. - Don't punish Rory for something I did! I take full responsibility for my actions. She waited long for tonight don't take it away from her, please. -our parents smiled at us and dad said. - This is not a punishment. We are not doing it because of what happened yesterday. Ash, honestly you are right, if  I were your age and in the same situation, I would've done the same thing. I got angry exactly because you remember me so much of my young version and I'm afraid that you will have to go down on such a rocky road as we had to. -dad said looking at our mother with the love of all the world.  - Then why is the party canceled? - I asked and they turned to me in unison.  - We got really bad news. The Alpha, whose son Asher attacked yesterday went to the council. He reported it as a violation of our laws, since "nothing serious happened" and he claimed that Asher is unable to control himself. They are insisting us, to send him away. - our eyes widened with my brother and I grabbed his aóhand firmly.  - They can't send him away! - I growled and felt my eyes shining. My wolf Dove, howled loudly in my mind causing me a headache. I closed my eyes in pain and when I opened them I gasped. The whole room froze around us. The next moment the office door opened and Uncle Sebastian walked in. He looked around and whistled. - It seems like Rory has Arctic wolf powers as well. - I blushed and felt all the stares at me, the most surprised one was Asher's. Since we got our wolves he never showed any sight of special powers except his heightened normal werewolf powers. We always wondered with mom that was this because she didn't help him in his first shift.  - Seby, I hope you have good news. - dad said looking at his impressed half-brother. Uncle Sebastian shook his head sadly. - I'm sorry Carter. -he said and handed an envelope to my father. He took it from him and saw the king's stamp on it. He opened the letter and the only sound we heard was our own breathing and the melting ice in the room. Dad read the letter and his eyes turned black when he finished it.  The letter fell from his hand and mom grabbed it. She also read the letter and her eyes shined with the familiar blueish silver shine they used to whenever her wolf took control.  - What is in the letter dad? - Asher asked and our father's eyes kept being pinch black. Without answering he turned to  Uncle Sebastian and said. - Call over William, Lizbeth, Sara, and all our remaining allies, we are in trouble. -our Uncle nodded and rushed out of the room. I felt my parents' anger and Asher's worry. We shared a look with my brother and I felt like the world is going to end. I wasn't that far from the truth.  - Dad can you please tell us what the hell is going on? You are scaring us! - I cried and our mother looked at me, her eyes were still Cassia's and she was furious. She handed me the letter and I read it out loud.  " King Damon, king of all werewolves, declares war against the United Packs of Hunter-Hill due to their infidelity to the crown. All who aren't on the king's side are against him. Long live King Damon! "  - Why? - I asked and my voice trembled. our mother walked to us and she embraced us in her arms. I started to cry in fear and she growled.  - This is insane! We did nothing like this! That is a false accusation!- Asher shouted. Dad looked at mom and she stared into his eyes. At that moment our mother's voice sounded a lot more powerful than ever.  - Nobody can hurt my pups! If that son of a b***h wants war... I'll give him a f*****g war! - mom howled and I was sure that all of our Pack members heard her. She rushed out of the room and shifted into Cassia running to the main square. We were at her heel and by the time we arrived at the plaza, there were all of our Pack members gathered. All of them had their teeth showing and they growled in a low voice. Our mother's wolf stood at the center and she spoke. No other wolf was capable of that only our mother. Cassia could speak like a human and not only by mind-link or with wolf sounds.  - I asked all of you to get here because our family is in danger. Our Pack is in danger. The King accuses us to be infidel to the crown! - everyone growled louder and I saw on their faces how much this accusation hurt their feelings. Our parents and Uncles were the Alphas of the biggest united pack. Many werewolves from the capital decided to move to our Packs because of the high standards our leaders had. Here everybody lived in peace, each wolf had a job and if they were in trouble they could've counted on one of the Alphas anytime, even with the smaller problem. Our people loved us, not only our parents. We grew up here with Asher and they never even said a word to a stranger about our existence. After what happened yesterday many fighters pat Ash on his back for defending me. Not to mention our mother is the Real Alpha and we are her first descendants. Dad continued now by her side. - The King declared war against our Pack. We will fight if we need to and we want to assure all of you that you are free to leave if you want to. We won't force anybody to fight with us. - mom nodded in agreement.  - For those who want to leave we will help to find accommodation. - silence sat on the crowd. This was a hard decision but our parents were fair leaders. Suddenly wolf after wolf kneed down in front of our parents until every pack member, even the kids, and elders, were on their knees. One older werewolf man in the front row raised his voice.  - I think I can talk in the name of the whole Pack when I say this. We will follow Alpha Carter and Luna Alexis even to the hell without hesitation if they need it! - I looked around and felt how much our Pack loved us, they howled in unison with the man who just spoke. Asher leaned to my ear and said. - This is an amazing feeling. Train me, Rory, our pack will need our powers. - I smiled at my brother and nodded.
