Lenora POV I could feel the aching in my back even in my dreams. I groaned and stretched out watching the waves crash upon the shore. This was always such a nice dream, the same beach and same waves that I had seen as a child. I let the black sand fall through my fingers looking out onto the impending storm ove r the ocean and let the salty sea air breath through my lungs. I turned and found those lavender eyes I had seen a million times before watching me as I watched them. “Hello dear old friend, it has been a while,” I smiled softly. The being never spoke back, only ever observing. “I was starting to think you had left me too.” I gave a half hearted chuckle trying to stay the tears forming. “Everyone leaves don’t they? Such fleeting times we have, we are so fragile.” The pain in my back is starting to dull. As lighting began to dance across the sky I saw something new, an island I had never seen with the faintest light illuminating from it. The wind softly whispered, soon. I woke up in a room I didn’t recognize. There was soft lighting coming from a corner lamp revealing a luxurious room that was upheld to a high standard of cleanliness. I had to be the dirtiest thing there and I had showered this morning. I found books neatly arranged along the walls with beautiful decals that made the walls seem almost alive. A faint light was coming from a smart TV that was playing the news across the room. A storm was going to be moving in tonight and snow might come with it. I peered at the scroll bar seeing it was only 7:45 AM. I must have only been out for 30 minutes. I sat up and my back was sore, but felt better than before, I remembered slipping and all these beautiful people helping me. I must be in a room above the shop I assumed because this was no hospital I had ever known. My need to get away from people began to kick in; my boots were right beside the bed I pulled them on. They were a little wet but manageable, so I walked over to the door. It was a heavy oak with a deeply rich stain, the carving on it was curious. I hadn't seen anything so brutalistic in a while, very early 50’s. Shaking my head back to reality, I needed to get back home to change before going to school. Popping my head out to see, but there wasn’t anyone in the hallway. Making my way down it I couldn’t help but notice all the artwork on the walls. I held my breath seeing some of the most stunning artwork, pieces that deserved to be in a museum. “So beautiful,” I whispered. “Yes, you are,” Vlad whispered so quietly I almost didn’t hear him. His presence made me jump. He was definitely one of those men I had met earlier this morning. Hair dark like onyx and eyes like the moon. Brother’s is what I remembered them saying. “I’m sorry I didn’t know anyone was up here,” I blushed for some reason, not able to meet his eyes. Leave. The faintest wind whispered. “I’m sorry?” I c****d my head thinking it was him who said something under his breath. “Don’t be sorry, it was our car park that hurt you. How are you feeling, princess?” He asked as he walked up to me, his scent was too much all I wanted was to bury my face into his chest. He acted so familiar with me, it made me a bit uneasy. “My back hurts a tad, but everything else feels good,” I looked up at him, his silver eyes were brighter than his brothers. “Thank you for helping me.” I just wanted to leave and get this week of school over. “Of course, you don’t need to thank us for that,” he smirked. “We have breakfast for you downstairs as a way of saying sorry our car park is where you got hurt.” Most people didn’t apologize for mistakes. Doubt crept into my mind. Most people would get me to a hospital after a fall to start an insurance claim. That is the right thing to do, not put me in a room I didn’t know with all these people I didn’t know. I made a mental note to remember what they looked like in case something happened. I could see a trail of tattoos on his neck going below his shirt. “You can just ask to see them my princess,” he leaned down whispering in my ear. His warm breath kissing at my cold skin sending shivers down my spine. My cheeks turned bright red as I pushed past him to head down the stairs as I heard him laughing. Was he flirting? That god of a man flirting with me? No, this was weird. I needed to get out of this place. Down stairs I found the woman who helped me; Minnie and the man behind the counter called Theo sitting at the counter with coffee and bagels. Again this was weird. I just wanted my home, f**k school I’ll just go up to the office later. “I have to go,” I hurried towards the door to the shop. “Thank you again for your help. I appreciate it!” “Hey wait!” The girl shouted after me. Her voice had a soft warm tone. I stopped at the door and against my better judgement turned around. She got up with a Dior bag in hand. “So we know it’s late and by your bag we figured you were on your way to school,” she handed the shopping to me. “I got you a pair of tights so you can just change here instead of going all the way to your home.” “You didn’t have to do that,” I protested not taking the bag. No, I wanted to go home. She huffed c*****g her head to Theo wanting him to back her up. “No, but it’s who we are.” He stood up walking over to us, taking the bag from her and then taking my hand softly, I gasped at the feeling as our skin touched it was like waves of pure bliss crawling up my skin. “So take it, you can go back upstairs and change that way you aren’t late.” He put the bag in my hand and released it. I clenched my fist to chase away the feeling; the tingles of my nerves was an unfortunate side effect of the nerve damage I had received. I could see him smiling brightly at me when I looked up to him confused. “Go on darling.” I made my way upstairs slowly trying to figure out just what the hell is going on. Why did I listen to him? Just who are these people? Who is actually nice enough to just go out and buy something for a stranger? We don’t even have a Dior store here in town. How did she manage to find these? This was too weird. I needed to find a way out. I walked into a room that I had thought was the one from earlier when I found a man stretched out on a sofa, he had white hair that was slicked back though a few pieces were astray from him sleeping. His shirt was off revealing a chiseled body that was lined with rune tattoos and scars. I walked over to him studying him, this had to be Zade. I could smell the cardamon on him the closer I got, he looked a bit older than his brothers, but was obviously related. Their bone structure was phenomenal. His eyebrows were perfectly manicured and a dark black as were his long eyelashes. Truly a beautiful man, yet again I felt a sense of panic, the urge to want to run and yet something wanting to stay. I left the room and walked down the hall; meows piqued my interest and following them I found a fire escape window opened and a white cat grooming themselves on the landing. “Thank you,” I smiled at the cat leaving the bag in the hall as I climbed down the metal ladder to the car park. I hurried into my jeep and quickly drove off thanking the gods that I was out of whatever weird situation that was. I called the school hoping that I could just not go in at all. “Lenora, where are you? We had a deal,” principal Anne questioned me as soon as she picked up. “I know I am so sorry Mrs. Anne, I had a slight situation this morning. Is there any way I could just not go in? I’ll bring the paper work by tomorrow morning,” I pleaded. “I am sorry Lenora, but I have already bent the rules for you too much, if you do not come in today you won’t be able to transfer to that online school you want to,” she sighed softly. I knew she had tried her hardest for me. “Okay, I’ll be there soon,” I pulled into my driveway and hurried into my room to change. I stopped at the door trying to find any option to just not go. I had lost the bravery I felt this morning when dealing with Jared and Crystal. I just wanted to lay in bed with Kolt, but I couldn’t even do that. Dad, please give me strength. I whispered as I made my way to school.
