Lenora’s POV
Nurse Quinn left it up to me if I wanted to stay at school or go home, and while the group had wanted me to go home I decided I shouldn’t leave early on my first day back. Minnie added all of their numbers to my phone before they left campus. Zade never came back after dropping me off at the nurse's office even to say bye and that hurt me for some reason.
Last class before my free period was PE and thanks to my hand being all jacked up earning me some dirty looks from Crystal and Jared but I didn’t care it was her fault I was like this.
The sky was still cloudy but the rain had stopped so everyone was outside running laps.
“Coach if we’re just doing laps, shouldn't she be able to do it?” Crystal groaned.
“Just keep jogging Mrs. Kens,” Coach Rayne ordered. He had always been soft on me, no idea why, but he felt like a safe teacher at this school which was rare. She rolled her eyes and kept going.
I leaned against the bleachers, staring out into the parking lot waiting for the bell so I could just get in my car and leave. Reaching into my pocket I fished out my phone and dialed out to my mother. The line rang until voicemail and I left one just stating to call me back that I wanted to talk to Kolt before he went to sleep.
I only noticed after hanging up the phone Vlad was leaning up against an Audi Q7 smoking a cigarette. He pointed towards his phone and I looked down seeing mine ringing.
"Yes?"
"Hello princess," his velvet voice answered.
"Why are you not in school?" I demanded.
"To make sure you stay out of trouble, bosses orders," he chuckled.
"Bosses?" I asked. "You mean Zade?"
"Yup the one and only," Vlad replied.
"So what? He's like the alpha of y'all?" I chuckled, thinking of them like dogs.
"We're all technically alpha's actually, but he is the alpha" he explained. I scrunched my eyebrows confused at "Goddess you're so adorable when you're confused," he laughed.
"How can you see what I look like? You're at least 120 yards away from me," I gasped.
"Lenora! Just cause I gave you a pass from laps doesn't mean you can be on your phone," Coach Rayne called out.
"Got to go!" I quickly hung up the phone.
Theo’s POV
“So you enrolled us all into her school?” I peered at Zade as he organized his closet.
“Of course I did, I’m not just going to leave our mate at that school alone, and I doubt she’d willingly go to the pack or enroll at your old school,” he explained his reasoning. “I just need to find a way to step away from alpha responsibilities for a while.”
“Since when are you willing to give up power?” Minnie walked into his room.
“A mate changes everything, Minnie,” Zade replied.
“And you will give her that much power over you,” she pressed on. She knows the kind of man our brother is. He is a control freak, he never wants to submit even to our fathers. He was the only one of the three of us to never bow down to their Alpha aura even as children. Zade did a lot of questionable things in our life, but they were always for our own good so for him to be willing to give up that power for Lenora was wild.
“I would let her destroy me if that is what she wanted,” he came out of the closet. “I would burn the world down for her if she so much as asked.”
“You would kill innocent people?” I looked at him, maybe it was because his beast wasn’t suppressed, but his mate bond seemed so much stronger than mine. I loved her. I knew that but I’m not sure if I could kill innocent people.
“Without a second thought,” he answered slowly. “The thing about her…” he paused, looking off to the direction of the school. “She would never ask us to.”
I think I understood, he was willing to do those things because our mates heart is so pure and kind it would never come to that. But from what I could feel from her, she would also give up everything for the people who didn't deserve it. "She needs us to know when it's okay to be selfish."
"Yes," Minnie and Zade said at the same time.
"You sure she isn't your mate too?" I raised my eyebrow.
Minnie laughed "I wish."
