A Truth.

Lenora’s POV As I finally came back into consciousness I felt a heightened sense of anxiety. My eyes were so heavy, come on I forced myself to open them. I remembered only some of what transpired, Zade was cheating on his wife with me and I found out I had drowned, and had died for a little bit, and Zade brought me to a weird hospital. I scanned the room seeing Theo in the corner laying on three chairs side by side as a makeshift bed. It was dimly lit probably for my comfort, and the air was buzzing with noises from the machines I was hooked up to. All I wanted right now was my little brother in my arms. I had no idea how long I had been out, what if he thought I had abandoned him? “Th…” My voice tried to come out but failed miserably. Apparently the noise was enough to wake him though, and he shot up from the chairs. “Darling!?” He hurried to the bedside and grabbed my hand. I gave a signal for something to drink and he hurriedly poured me a cup of water and handed it over. I downed it, handing it back for more. “How long was I out?” I finally asked as I finished the third cup of water. “Just a little over a week,” he gave a solemn nod. A week, damn it Kolt would be full of worry. “Is my phone here?” “Yeah, Vlad went to your house and picked up a few things for you when you woke up,” he smiled softly, opening the drawer beside the bed and handed it over to me. “Thanks,” I powered it on, “I need to call someone, um can you leave the room for a bit?” He looked tense, but lamented and left the room. I tried to dial out, but it just kept dropping. I groaned as tears welled up in my eyes, I just wanted to see his face. “Why don’t I have a signal!?” “That is because you are in Illyria,” Zade walked into the room, dressed in a three piece suit that was matte black. “What is Illyria?” I looked up at him, still uneasy with him. “This might be a bit hard to understand, but everything magical that you humans made up in folklore is real,” he began. Theo and Vlad came into the room. “We are wolves, the three of us have other creatures in us, Minnie is full blooded wolf though.” I began to laugh, are they psychotic? I thought to myself. They have to be to believe that, in what world would those creatures exist. Zade held out his hand and a flame appeared on it. I stared at the flame dancing in the palm of his hand, not burning the flesh it touched. “I know it’s a lot to take in, but we needed to tell you to be able to explain the next part.” “You’re our mate,” Vlad gave me a soft crooked smile. “I’m sorry, a what?” I rubbed my temples trying to get a grasp on everything they were telling me. “Our mate, the one we are destined to be with, that's why Zade did what he did,” Theo tried to explain. I paused all the hectic thoughts in my head and zeroed in on him, “do not trivialize what he did by some moronic wolf mate thing, he cheated plain and simple.” “No, but I did it because I love you,” Zade blurted out. I laughed out loud at those words. “You don’t know me.” “But we do, the goddess wouldn’t pair us with someone unfit,” Theo again tried to reason. “We all love you darling, and when you told us to stay away it hurt.” I glared at him which caused him to step back, I nearly felt bad for him when Zade chimed in, “we can’t stay away from you.” “Can’t or won’t?” I hissed. Just waking up from a coma to find all this out was just too much. “We can’t princess,” Vlad spoke softly. “Staying away physically hurts us, and now it’s too dangerous for you to be away from us.” I noticed the wording he used, which made it seem like it was for my own sake. “There are some not good people in Illyria looking for you now that you belong to us.” Vlad continued. “Belong to you,” I laughed, holding onto my head a piercing headache began to take hold of me. “I do not belong to anyone. And if it’s so dangerous here, I will go back home.” “No,” Zade stepped up to the bed, his aura more intense than when I had first met him. “Not until we can make sure you are safe. If you want to go by then,” he paused seemingly in a fight with himself. “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.” “How long?” I asked. “How long, what?” Theo looked confused. “How long until you know it is safe and I can leave?” “It depends on what we find during the investigation,” Zade quickly answered. “Why is there even a need for that?” “Your house…” Vlad sighed. “It burned down while you were here, we haven’t found the cause.” “Leave,” I growled out. “No,” Zade said. “I said leave!” I clenched my fist in the sheet, I couldn’t stand to look at these men. They all looked at me shocked, but nodded and left the room. As soon as the door closed I screamed into the pillow sobbing. What has my life just become?
