I slowly collapsed on his chest.
"No, NO! I'm SORRY," Jack worried.
"Jack, calm down," I told him. "We need to leave. Help me." Jack tried to open to the door but it was locked.
"Break it down," I demanded. Jack used all of his strength but the door didn't even dent.
"It must be magic," I said. "I knew I felt strange, she knows if she didn't do something to my wolf strength I would have shifted and bitten her head off when she first came in the room."
"Are you okay?" Jack asked. I moved over to the floor and examined my wound. It wasn't healing and didn't look like it would.
"Jack, I need you to stay calm and no matter what happens, you stay on our side and you kill that bitch."
"I don"t know what's been happening, my head its all over the place, one minute I want to be with her and protect her. And now I want to .. Oh f**k, look what she made me do, Aria,"
"I will be fine," I told him lying through my teeth. The wound wouldn't be fatal if I could heal but I am bleeding a lot and there's only so much I can do. I got a pillow sheet to cover my wound and applied pressure to it to hopefully stop the bleeding.
"James will never forgive me if you die," Jack panicked.
"You're his brother, he won't hurt you," I motioned for Jack to come closer. I took his head in my hand and caressed his cheek. "Don't be scared."
"You should have seen him when he thought you were dead and now he will find out I am the one who killed you," Jack looked so hurt.
"He loves you and this is not your fault," I told him. "I WILL BE FINE." I took both his hands in mine.
"No one is in this house, What are they planning," I asked Jack. "Did you ever hear anything.
"No, not really," Jack pondered.
"If she got to alpha Simon that means he will protect his new bride at whatever cost, that could mean war,"
"Alpha Simon has the largest pack in the area," Jack explained.
"But our pack has the best fighters and I have new friends with their own pack," As I thought of my new friends I finally realized something awful and I gasped at the shock.
"No, no, Jack you need to find a way out now,"
"What happened, what's wrong,"
"I BROUGHT HER THE THREE ALPHAS SHE WAS MISSING," I shouted. "She wins this war and its all over, that's why she said I handed her the win. FUCK."
"Calm down," Jack said. "We will figure something out.
I had been holding my side for more than twenty minutes now. I was thinking this was the end.
"Aria," I heard someone call. My senses were off so I didn't know how far the voice was.
"In here," Jack called as he pounded on the door.
"Aria," the voice was closer now and I could make it out now. The door was being pushed from the outside and then I heard the only voice that ever mattered.
"I'm here, I'll get you out," James said. I heard another voice and I knew it was father Romero. He was chanting in Latin. His voice was harsh and yet calm. I could barely keep my eyes open so I didn't notice when the door opened. All I heard was shouting.
"Why isn't she healing, what happened to her."
"I'm sorry,"
"We need to take her out of this room, I can not undo the spell cast over this room."
"I swear if I lose her,"
I was picked up and I can clearly say it was James because I knew his touch and smell. Plus I know at this moment he would never let anyone pick me up. My life was literally in his hands. I felt us move quickly.
"Aria, hold on. You said you would never leave me again." I was laid on something soft and I felt James caress my cheek. "Baby, please, you are so strong. Stronger than me. Stronger than any she-wolf. Please hold on. Fight." I knew my body was still not healing on its own. I heard father Romero chanting again. I felt something inside me, it moved and it suddenly brought me so much joy. I knew deep down I held felt it before but I ignored it because I knew it wasn't the best moment to think about it. But as I felt this new feeling. This warm and loving feeling I have inside me. This new life I have growing inside me. That's when it hit me. I was dying. Both my unborn pup and I would be dead if I didn't get my s**t together and fight to stay alive. I heard James crying and pleading in the distance. I tried to hold on. My body just didn't want to start healing.
"Come on pup, it's you and me." I felt my body heat up and I felt strange.
"Aria," James called out.
"Aria," Father Romero said. "Aria, open your eyes." I felt warm hands on mine and I felt soft lips slowly touch mine.
"James," I spoke softly. "James."
"I'm here," he said. "I thought I lost you." I began to cry. "Baby, no I meant." I stopped him with a fierce and intense kiss.
"We will never let you lose us," I said.
"WE?" he questioned. I held my hand over my belly.
"We." He smiled so hard I think it hurt his face a little. "God, I love you."
"I love you too." I kissed him once more. "Now tell me what have I missed."
"There was an attack at the packhouse and they took you. I ran after you with this guy and everyone else stayed behind to protect the pack."
"We have to confront alpha Simon," I said.
"It's not going to be easy," James said.
"When is it ever," I told him. "Where's Jack?"
"We locked him up in a cell," James said.
"What, why?" I argued.
"Calm down, he did this to you," James explained.
"He didn't. It was that b***h that made him do it," I said.
"Just the same, he is still under her influence. He is an enemy now."
