"Dude it smells like something died in here," I heard Jack complain. "Look we are having my reception dinner here tonight."
"WHAT THE f**k DID YOU JUST SAY," I growled. "This is my home and when the f**k did you propose to that bitc,"
"Bro, DON'T," Jack hissed. "And I told you I was getting married today."
"Jack, If I knew you were serious I would have punched you in the face," I said harshly. He smiled as if I had just made a joke and went to grab some orange juice.
"Here, drink this, shower, and be ready by four," Jack said.
"What about the wedding," I asked not really interested but I thought I should ask.
"Julie doesn't want a big wedding so we will do the ceremony at her place and come back here for a simple dinner."
"So, mom and dad won't be there and you're okay with that," I questioned.
"It's what my future wife wants so I am okay with making her happy on her special day," he said. "I'll see you later." Jack left and I got a little worried. My younger brother was about to get married and he didn't care if his family or friends were there. He almost completely forgot about Aria and can't even take a minute to ask if I am okay. I felt the need to throw something again. I just sighed and headed to the bathroom to take a shower.
After my shower, I went downstairs and notice strange people decorating my home.
"WHO THE f**k ARE ALL OF YOU!" I shouted. They ignored me and continued with their work.
"Alpha," Matt called.
"Yeah," I answered annoyed.
"Bravo team just came back from investigating Aria's... I mean your wife's dis," Matt confused on how to word it paused on his report to me.
"Spit it out, did you find her," I hissed.
"No body was recovered," Matt said. "We can send the team again."
"No, it's okay. I think I have to accept reality," I told him.
"Are you sure," Matt questioned.
"I would search till the end of time to the ends of the earth if I had too but I can't put you or my pack through this anymore," I told him.
"Understood alpha," He gave me a tap on my shoulder and left.
My phone rang and I looked to see that it was my mother.
"Hey, mom, what's up," I asked her. She sounded so worried. She told me Jack just told her about the dinner and was devasted to here she wasn't invited to the ceremony. She tried to sound happy for him but even she started to see there was something wrong with all this. I calmed her down and told her not to worry. I told her I would see her soon and I went back to my bedroom. I looked around and saw the mess that still remained.
"Oh Aria, why did you leave me."
I looked at my watch and figured my brother was probably already married. I heard some noise and cheering so I went downstairs.
"My brother," Jack called out. "I am off the market." He looked happy enough but something still felt strange. I grew up with my brother and have seen him when he is happy. Like when he would get a good grade on a test. Or he had his first kiss, or when he told me about the pact he made with Aria. His happy and grinning expression was not what I was staring at right now. I don't know what I was staring at this moment but it wasn't my brother and he wasn't happy.
"Well, our parents should be here soon," Jack announced. "Big brother I am so happy. This place looks great."
"Oh Jack, everything is perfect," Julie said. Her eyes gave her away. She wasn't happy she pleased and thrilled that she got what she wanted. What did she want though, Money?
My parents finally arrived and we had a few drinks before dinner. Everyone congratulated Julie and Jack. We all tried to be pleasant and happy for him.
"Honey, so how was the ceremony," my mother asked Jack.
"It was," Jack paused for a moment. "It was nice and simple."
"Oh," my mother replied. I knew asking about it hurt my mother a bit.
"Let's sit and have dinner," Julie said. "Lauren, you sit here next to James." I rolled my eyes and Jack elbowed me on the side of my stomach.
"Be nice, she is cute," he said. I felt like throwing up. I couldn't even tell if she was pretty or not. I don't even know what color her eyes are.
"So James, do you think we can go out on another date sometime," Lauren asked me.
"NO!" I spit out. She just giggled and held on to my bicep. I swear if we were alone I would have pushed her off of me. We continued to eat and I felt like this was all some sick joke.
"Well, I am just so happy to have all of you here and be a part of this wonderful family," Julie said. "Alpha Simon should be a happy married man today too."
"What, why would he not tell me or invite us," I said.
"He wanted it to be intimate and just with Kathy who he loves more than anything," Julie answered.
"THAT'S BULLSHIT!" I snapped. "He would have told me."
"Don't worry James, when you get married you will understand how you want it to just be the two of you," Julie remarked.
"I am married," I growled.
"Oh James, your not married anymore," Julie said with a grin on her face. This stupid b***h wanted me to kill her. I suddenly felt a hand on my arm.
"James, it's okay," Lauren said. "I can help you forget about her." Lauren reached up to try and lean into me. She tried to pull me into her but I didn't budge. She tried to come closer again and kiss me but I pulled my body back. I didn't want to cause a scene and push her because I wouldn't be gentle about it.
"James come on," Lauren said. She reached up to caress my cheek when suddenly the front door slammed open.
"HONEY, I'M HOME!"
