Chapter 11 Seduce the Woman?

758 Words
Richard Williams hated schemes. But what he hated most was wasting time on people like Maria. If Maria continued to annoy him and get under his skin, he would have no option but to do what he could to make her disappear. But Maria did happen to notice Richard’s sour attitude. The way he pulled a long face frightened her, so she toned her behavior down and managed to escape the worst. She hesitated and then turned to Milos Jackson.  “Milos,” Maria yelled, “Do you have a minute?” She caught up with him in the corridor.  “Listen. I have something for you. I need to pick your brain. Check this out,” she showed Milos a photograph a young man. “This is Jordan Thompson. I know he looks baby-faced and young, but it turns out he’s the CEO of a listed company. I did my research. And hey,” Maria paused, “he wants to give you an opportunity to make money.” “Jordan Thompson? A chance to make money? What in the world are you on about, Maria?” Milos looked at Maria curiously. He was puzzled. He took Maria to be the type of woman who knew what she had to do to survive in the patriarchal world of multi-billion dollar corporations. He figured that Maria was not beyond using her feminine wiles and charming figure to garner the attention of powerful men. So, what was she doing talking to him now? Why did she decide to help him? Was it all some kind of elaborate scheme? Milos was lost in thought.  “Look, I’m not f*****g with you, Milos. I’m not trying to swindle you or anything. Trust me. We’re co-workers! It’s a great opportunity. I think we’d better be smart and seize it.” Maria winked at Milos and grabbed his arm. “So… what do you think?” With Maria resting on his arm, Milos could feel Maria’s soft breasts. Although he felt a bit awkward about it, he couldn’t deny the fact that deep down he desired her. Milos cleared his throat and said, “Umm Maria, look, I’m sorry, but I can’t go with you right now. My client needs me right now. Maybe we could talk about this later though?” Milos trailed off, and then pulled away. He wasn’t sure what would happen if he went along with Maria’s suggestion, but he felt dubious about the thing. He decided he needed to sleep on it. In any case, he had been assigned to work with Richard, so he figured he should help Richard out first. A man, after all, should always be dignified. That’s what Milos believed– it wasn’t all a matter of money, even though it often seemed like money governed humans more than anything else.  “Well, Milos, what do you want me to say then? This is Jordan Thompson, for crying out loud! You’re just going to let him, a big-time CEO with assets you and I could only dream of ever having, wait for you? You must be kidding… Don’t you know that his father is in Congress?”  Maria was exasperated. She couldn’t understand how Milos could be blasé about this incredible opportunity. But she wasn’t done trying to persuade Milos just yet.  “Weren’t you telling me the other day about how you’re worried about paying for college? This is your chance to make it all easy for yourself, Milos. This is your opportunity to secure the funds to give your son the very best education that money can buy. Come on. Don’t miss this chance. It’s gonna be easy. A piece of cake. Just listen to me closely, and do as I say…” Maria reached back out to grab Milos’ arm, but he stepped away just in time.  “Maria… thank you. Genuinely, thanks for thinking of me and bringing this opportunity to my attention. But I… I’m just not sure. I’ll figure out a way to pay for college and the rest of it. I’ll figure it out myself…” Milos said weakly. “I just… I just don’t think that a Congressman is going to have the time to help out someone like me. It doesn’t make any s–“ “Mr. Jackson! Mr. Jackson?” The office intern suddenly came up behind Milos and Maria. “Mr. Jackson, one of your clients is…”  “Yes, yes, thanks. I’ll tend to it. Run along now. Oh, and get me a cappuccino, will ya?” Milos retorted, and then quickly turned around to address Maria. “Look, Maria,” Milos began, “I really can’t deal with this right now. I have a bunch of clients I need to tend to before I can start thinking about any of your wild money-making schemes.”
