"Do you mean to find a man to seduce my wife, so I can blackmail her into selling the house?” Jordan was shocked but appreciated the idea. “Maria, I don’t know. That is my fiancé and reputation on the line. I don’t want her to suffer for the rest of her life.” Jordan said gently.
“You are taking this too seriously; no one is going to do anything with her. It will just look like she is cheating, you can get what you want out of it and then it will come out that it was all false accusations.” Maria smiled.
Jordan had to admit that Maria's words tempted him; she made a good point. Jordan knew that she was capable of finding someone to help them, but he wondered where she would find this person and how could she promise that they would not be betrayed?
Maria pointed to Milo, Jordan looked at him. He was talking to a client, who nodded from time to time, it looked like Milo was going to make a sale today. Jordan looked at Milo closer; he was dressed conservatively, if not a little bit shabby. He came across as mild-mannered and willing to please.
“Ok, but how do we get him to do what we want?” Jordan asked Maria.
“He looks ordinary, but he is very clever and easily persuaded.” Maria grinned.
Jordan thought that he heard a hint of disdain in her voice; Maria was bitter about those that had received their degrees. She had been kicked out of college for having an affair with one of the teachers.
“Don’t worry, I know Milo is short of money, and he is brilliant. I know he will help us, even if you doubt it.” Maria said in a relaxed way.
Jordan nodded while he thought about it. It would be better to trust Maria and keep as much information within the same company; Maria would be able to keep an eye on Milo and make sure that he didn’t do anything to jeopardize the deal.
Maria promised to talk to Milo as soon as he had a free moment, he was still talking to his client.
“Richard, I have to be honest with you. The type of property you are looking for is tough to find; I have a few places that I can show you today. They are not listed with any other agency, so I can assure you that you will only find them here. You are free to check around and see what other agents have available, but I promise there is nothing like what you are after.” Milo smiled.
“Here is my business card, maybe have a think about things and give me a call when you are ready. I’m always here to help.” Milo handed Richard his card.
Milo had a feeling that this man was different from any other client he had dealt with before; there was a sense of urgency about him, Richard hadn’t even asked about the costs involved. Money was not an issue for this man; he had very particular and rather expensive tastes. Milo was almost convinced that he would be able to seal a deal before the end of the week.
“You said you had three places available to rent right now?” Richard confirmed.
“Yes, that’s correct, I can take you to see them now if you want,” Milo replied.
“Are they in good condition? Are they all ready to be moved into?” Richard asked.
Milo was taken aback;
“Yes, they have all been recently renovated and are currently empty. The next tenant can move in as soon as they want.” Milo smiled.
“Alright, I trust your opinion. I don’t need to look at the properties; I will rent all three places. I would like to move in tomorrow if you can sort that out with the owner and I will pay twelve months' rent in advance, in cash, on all three. Do we have a deal?” Richard smiled as he pulled a stack of notes out of the briefcase to show Milo he was serious.
Richard hadn’t been sure if he was going to have any luck finding what he was looking for, but he had been successful this morning. All three of the houses were in the same community and reasonably close to one another and Richard was happy with the agent's description of the houses. Milo seemed like someone he could trust; he was very professional and didn’t even wince when he saw a large amount of cash in Richard’s briefcase.
“Richard, are you certain you don’t want to inspect the properties? I strongly suggest that the amount of rent you will be paying that you should be happy with the building. I can contact the owner now, and we can view the properties right now.” Milo was unaccustomed to a client taking his opinion and not wanting to see the house first.
Milo wondered what Richard did to have so much cash and want three houses to move into immediately, but Milo had learned not to ask too many questions.
Right at this moment, Maria sauntered over;
“Milo, are you questioning a client's decision? You should always give the customer what they want.” Maria admonished Milo then turned to Richard. “Hey there handsome, I’m Maria, and if Milo doesn’t give you the deal you are after, then I will certainly try to help you.” Maria purred, she pulled a business card out of her bra and handed it to Richard.
Maria was jealous that Milo had gotten such an easy client and he was still on his way to blowing the deal.
“Thank you, Maria,” Richard said as he accepted the card. “But I will be doing business with Milo. I will rent these three properties through you. You will organize everything today so that I can move in tomorrow. Do this, and I will pay you handsomely.” Richard smiled at Milo.
Richard very purposefully avoided looking at Maria when he said this, there was something about Maria that did not appeal to Richard. He would instead do business with Milo.
“I look forward to hearing from you later today Milo.” Richard stood up, offering his hand. “You will find all the paperwork you need from me in this file. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me. It’s been a pleasure doing business with you.”
“And a pleasure doing business with you too,” Milo said as they shook hands.
