CHAPTER 9

1063 Words
ALAROUS POV It’s crazy how much control she has on me. The small smile could affect me so much. I can do anything to see that smile again, anything. I called my best tracker to my office and told him to get me Ellen’s whereabouts. The guy that took her has to be from my pack, there is no other explanation as to how he came into my pack grounds and took someone. It was a close call, Ellen was taken from my mate’s personal ward. If they were about to sneak in then they could have harmed Elise. In a way I was grateful for Ellen, because of her my mate is not so lonely anymore. She became the friend that Elise needed while I couldn’t. I have to tell her about our world soon, I cannot let her in dark and hate me forever. She must know that whatever I did was because of who and what I am. I have already waited too long and I won’t anymore. It may sound insensitive but the truth has to come out sooner or later, and better soon than later. My kingdom has waited for their queen for a millennium and that’s enough I guess. A knock echoed in my room and by the scent I know it is Reese, my beta and an annoying friend that can’t help but poke his nose in everyone’s business.   I rolled my eyes and muttered a come in knowing very well he can hear it. As though he waltzed in with that cocky grin on his face. I don’t know how girls fall for him and his façade, I have told him so many times his mate will be utterly disappointed in him for his player ways but he just brushed it off and points out the probability of him finding a mate, which is far less that a human finding the love of his life.   “I heard you are busy so naturally I had to come.” He said and plopped on the chair on the opposite side of my desk. “Elise’s friend was taken by some man from her ward and she is worried sick. I promised her I will find her by dawn.” “From her ward? But there are warriors all around the hospital, how can anyone just barge in her private ward?” “That’s what concerns me too Reese, it is not a small matter, it is matter of the queen’s security.” “Did you find the girl?” he asked and I shook my head negatively, “Her house was found empty and nobody followed her to know where she was taken. I have assigned a tracker to locate her scent.” I said. If she was not found soon then Elise will never forgive me, her slightest bit of trust in me will shatter. “Maybe we should increase security. What about her family back in California?” he asked. Ugh just thinking of her family gives me a headache. It is bad enough Elise can’t stand my presence, I don’t know how I will face her family. I cannot keep her away from her family, she loves them and I won’t let my beloved be away from them unwillingly. “They are obviously looking everywhere for her, due to the sudden disappearance everyone is shook. Once I explain everything to her I will take her to meet her parents.” “You dug a deep hole for yourself alpha, I would have never done that if I were you.” he said rolling a paperweight in his hands, his words spiked something inside me. My lycan is fed up of everyone saying how I was impulsive and took a drastic step. “Well at least there is a chance for me to be with my mate, unlike someone.” I snapped and immediately regretted saying that to my childhood friend. His face remained stone cold. Before I could say anything else another knock sounded and Reese opened the door revealing Trevor, the tracker I had assigned to find Ellen. “Alpha, beta.” He bowed and I nodded. “Any news on the girl?” “Not about the girl alpha, we are still searching, but this note arrived in your name.” he said placing the white envelop on Reese’s extended palm. “You may leave.” “What is this all about?” I asked snatching the piece of paper from his hands. ‘So you finally found your mate mighty king? It’s a shame really. That poor little human girl was paired with such a beast like yourself. But I wouldn’t worry about her, she will be free from you soon. I will rip her away from you and before she can even know what a mate is. You took everything from me, now it’s my turn. Be ready king, may you live long…..without her.’ I crushed the piece of paper in my hand and flipped the table over in anger. Whatever control I had left had disappeared. My lycan was ready to shred blood and kill anyone who threatened our mate. Claws had replaced my fingers and I know my eyes were a deep red. Reese picked up the note from where I threw it and looked at me. “It’s not the time for you to lose control Alarous. You have to focus and eliminate the threat before it gets too close.” His attempts to calm me were not working, I took deep breaths and paced around the room in hope to calm my inner beast. My lycan needed to be let out. Nothing could keep me from destroying everything if I did. Threatening the king’s mate can result in death, knowing that someone was so close to taking my life away from me send a shiver up my spine. The thought alone was making me lose my s**t. The door burst open making me growl lowly. It was a guard from the east border.   “We found the girl Alpha.”
