~Voridian~
I stared through my window at the building I had given to the humans. For no reason at all, I had decided to remove them from the dungeons all because of her, and even though I knew that my decision was going to raise questions, especially from Thane, who would inform his father once he found out about it, I wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. That scares me because I did my best to ensure no one knew about Elowen.
Pretending was the only way I could figure out to get rid of her. Once I had done that, I wouldn’t have to worry about her well-being, and then I could get my revenge on her for what her father had done to my family.
I felt someone’s presence behind me, but I didn’t turn because I already knew who it was. ‘’what are you doing here? aren’t you supposed to be at the border?’’ I questioned Karius, who stood beside me and stared out the window toward the building.
He responded with another question. ‘’Don’t you think your actions will raise questions, especially from the werewolves? Everyone is waiting for you to pass on judgments to the humans, but they are all surprised that you have given them that building!’’
‘’And is that a problem? The humans will be useful rather than rotting away In the dungeon.’’ I responded with the best answer I could come up with, even though I knew most of what I had said were lies. ‘’ I have decided to make the humans slaves that will work in building a tower.’’
Karius turned to face me, and at the same time, my eyes met with his. He rolled his eyes and then laughed. ‘’ I don’t buy that Voridian. You lie!’’ he stated as if he were reading my mind, which he couldn’t even if he wanted to.
I should be able to read his mind, too, but I can’t because the only mind I could read was Elowen’s, and this started the first day I met her. The reason why I could read her mind was still unknown, and I was trying as much as possible to figure out the reasons.
‘’whatever you are thinking is not right,’’ I continued the conversation, hoping Karius wouldn’t have second thoughts like my lycan. They both had delusional thoughts that I was going to claim the human princess as my mate.
It was never going to happen.
‘’what is going to happen to Illyana?’’ Karius asked another question.
I frowned and folded my arms. That was a question that I was never going to answer.
My eyes caught the movement of Elowen, who was heading up the building, and with each step she took, I felt my wolf stir inside me and react to her movement. Yet again, without being so close to her, my body was reacting to seeing her. I didn’t know how long I could keep this up before I finally gave in because she was walking a temptation. Her hips swayed from left to right like a gentle breeze on a summer’s day. My gaze was drawn to the gentle curve of her waist. With every step she took, my pulse quickened, my heart started pounding in my chest like a drum, and the movement of her body suddenly hypnotized me.
I shouldn’t feel this way. I tried to remind myself, but the bond seemed to be saying something else, and it grew stronger than I expected.
‘’Claim her!’’ Nightfire whispered in my head. ‘’you have to claim her.’’
‘’shut up, I am trying to concentrate on it,’’ I told him, and then a hand touched me on the shoulder. It was Karius who stared at me with his eyes furrowed at me.
‘’you look like you are having a mid-crisis now and…’’ he stopped talking immediately, and I knew why because she was here.
As she approached us, the hair on my body stood on end, and I felt electrified by her presence. The sweet scent of lavender wafted towards me, intoxicating my senses and sending shivers down my spine. Tincting sensations spread across my body like a gentle caress that left me breathless. Nightfire growled in my head, begging to be released so that he could touch her. His feelings suddenly became mine as I longed for her, and my mind conjured an image of her rushing towards me and hugging me.
My fantasy was short-lived as Karius nudged me on the shoulder, which snapped me back to reality.
‘’You were drooling,’’ he said through the mind link, and I glared at him. ‘’I guess I should probably leave you two to talk,’’ he bowed and then left. I knew I shouldn’t look at his side as he was leaving, but I couldn’t ignore him as our eyes met, and he winked at me.
That sly, I thought.
Elowen got my attention as she cleared her throat and pointed towards the building. ‘’ alpha king, may I ask what you are trying to do?’’ she asked in the most impolite way, not that I cared if she respected me. As far as I was concerned, she didn’t seem like someone who would quickly give in to others.
I frowned at her at first for not seeing what I was trying to achieve, but then I answered her in the best way possible. ‘’ I'm letting you all know that you belong to me,’’ I responded and took two steps forward to her. ‘’Are you scared that I am being too nice?’’ I leaned closer to her and whispered. ‘’ We still have a deal together, remember?’’ I reminded her, and her reaction almost made me laugh.
She began to play with her fingers while looking elsewhere, and I knew that she was affected by the bond. Out of curiosity, I tried to read her mind, but I got nothing at all. It was as if she blocked me from finding what was going on in her mind, or she actually didn’t think at all.
My lips grazed her ear, and she let out a moan, which made my insides burst out with excitement. "I haven't even touched you yet, and you're already moaning," I chuckled and inhaled her neck, yearning to pin her to his bed and make her scream his name all night long. The more time we spent together, the more I crave for her. "I want you in my room now!" I ordered, turning to walk away from her as fast as possible. Inviting her to my room was a bad idea, and I shouldn’t do it, but it was the only place where I could touch her as much as I wanted.
