Imprisoned, Battle line is drawn

VORIDIAN “Where are they?” I asked one of the royal guards, desperate to see her again. “This way, Your Highness,” one of the guards pointed towards the front of the dungeon where the humans were being held. They had gathered and were about to be led inside when I arrived. Thane and Karius bowed their heads upon seeing me. “Your Highness,” Karius stood beside me on my left while Thane stood on my right. “We are about to lead the remaining humans into the dungeons. Do you have any…” I nodded, cutting him off and walking in front of the humans. Their numbers had drastically reduced, with only a few remaining. But my eyes were drawn to Elowen, standing close to a boy who held her by her waist. I had noticed them during the arena and knew their relationship was more than ordinary. Could he be her boyfriend? Betrothed? Soon-to-be husband? Whatever he was, I didn’t want to know because soon, I would get rid of him. The bratty princess was mine until I was ready to reject her. When I got to their front, it took all my willpower not to strangle the boy to death because of how affectionately he held her. And Elowen, she just stood there, head lowered, holding onto him as if her life depended on it. “I don’t know how you are feeling now, but I must confess that I feel like getting rid of that boy!” Nightfire growled in my head. “How dare he touch our mate like that!” “We will kill the boy,” I replied. “If we show our emotions now in front of all the werewolves, it will be seen as a sign of weakness, and she, the human who is our mate, will surely lose her life.” Not that I cared what happened to her, but because of Nightfire’s warning. I could go crazy. “Princess,” I spat angrily, moving towards her, closing the distance between us. “Don’t come closer to…” The boy holding her tried to speak, but I shoved him away, causing Elowen to fall to the ground. “Don’t you dare question me, human!” I snarled at the boy, then focused on Elowen. “Oh, how the mighty human princess has fallen!” I crouched to her level, grabbed her chin, and raised her head to face me. Surprisingly, she wasn’t thinking about anything—not even cursing at me. I continued to taunt her, expecting her to speak, but I got no response. “Too tired to speak?” I noticed how pale she had brought and how she shivered, not from the cold, but from her bleeding leg where the rogue wolf had bitten her. I had smelled it the moment I walked towards her, but I paid no attention to it. Touching her made things worse. A spark ignited when my fingers brushed against her chin, sending a shiver through my veins. Goddess, not again, I thought as my heart quickened, pounding in my chest like a drumbeat, a wave of excitement washing over me. My mind raced with thoughts of her under me as I struggled to maintain control. And then, it all ended with a slap. A sharp, stinging slap landed squarely on my face, snapping me out of my trance-like state. “I hope you like that!” she said with a wide grin spread across her face. The royal guards and Thane surrounded us immediately, pressing their swords against her throat. “Do not move,” Thane warned her. Elowen burst into laughter. “Coward,” she spat on the ground and raised her head to meet mine again. “You are a coward, Voridian, seeking revenge through petty methods, hiding behind your guards and stupid manipulations!” she yelled and then chuckled. “Know this: the humans who died because of your actions will not be forgotten. Their lives will be avenged, and I will be the one to do it!” She paused and pointed a finger toward my chest, her words dripping with hatred. “And when the time comes, I will put a blade straight through your heart, Voridian. You will beg for mercy, but it will be too late!” “Stop talking!” Thane shouted at her, pressing the blade deeper into her neck, but she didn’t flinch, still staring at me with fierce determination. I knew my assumptions about her were right. This woman was not to be underestimated and had just shown herself as my deadliest enemy. “Bow to the alpha king, human!” Thane commanded her. “I bow to no one!” Her reply was swift, and even when Thane pushed her head to the ground, she struggled against him, still looking at me with a smile. How could she be laughing when she was in pain? “How is that, Alpha King Voridian!” Her voice echoed in my head, and I noticed she deliberately provoked me to show she wouldn’t fight back. “Let her go, Thane!” I commanded in a low tone, and Thane responded with a bow, releasing her. “Princess,” I called out her name and laughed coldly, mirthlessly as I gripped her by the throat, pulling her closer. “Your story sounds amazing, princess. You should consider being a writer. Your taste for revenge and bravery would captivate audiences everywhere.” My grip around her neck tightened, and I felt my chest heave because of it, but I continued, even though I was also in pain. “How do you feel now? Are you still full of fire and determination?” I laughed again. “Do you feel the pain that every werewolf felt years ago when your father attacked our kingdom and destroyed our homes?” I sneered at her. “They begged like you humans are doing, but instead, he killed them, and I did the same and killed hundreds of your kind. Now, you feel the same pain that I felt when I lost everything.” Her eyes flashed with anger as she batted her lashes at me. I expected her to speak, but she didn’t. “Listen to me, you bratty princess,” I leaned closer, my voice taking on a menacing tone. “I like your defiant attitude; it’s refreshing but won’t last. You will be broken soon,” I whispered into her ear and noticed how she whimpered under my touch. “I will make sure that I break you, princess.” Her eyes flashed with rage, turning deep, blood red as she struggled against my grip, and then she spat in my face. “An evil man like you will never break me.” I expected that. “Funny,” I let go of her throat and wiped the spit off my face. Karius handed me a handkerchief quickly, and I wiped the spit away. “I hope you enjoy your time in the dungeon, princess,” I spoke into her head and winked at her. “Take them away and lock them up. I think I am done here.” Her eyes met mine, and she screamed at me. “I will kill you, Voridian!” she repeated, her voice resounding even as she was pulled into the dungeon. “Voridian!” The way she called my name did things to me, and I felt my c**k reacting again. I heaved a deep sigh, knowing I needed to get laid before I went crazy. Maybe if I had someone else, I would stop thinking about her and how she made me feel. There must be a way to break the bond without going crazy, which I wished to find quickly. “Keep dreaming, Voridian,” my lycan, Nightfire, responded. “There is no way you can destroy the bond without going crazy.” “We shall see.”
