Jax followed Kristen into the house and placed the pizza box on the kitchen table. Travis and Noah skidded into the room and each jumped into a chair while Kristen grabbed plates and handed them out. “It’s getting late. You two need to eat—carefully—and Travis, you need to get in the bath.” Luckily, Noah had already had his bath today.
“I kept them out late on a school night, didn’t I?” Jax said.
Kristen nodded. “Just a bit.”
“Okay boys, you heard your mom. Let’s dig in!” Jax popped the box opened and divvied out slices. The faster the kids were in bed, the faster he’d finally get one-on-one time with Kristen.
