Wendy POV
We stood there staring madly into each other's eyes. Who the hell does she think she is?! She looked at me like I wasn't even worth the gum under her shoe. Ugh, I hated this kind of upper class bitches. My mother was one of them. The familiar feeling that someone believed they were better than others, hung in the air like a snare. It would have been a beautiful sight if she also hung in the noose.
"Laura, what are you doing here?" Damien asks with a tired look and a loud sigh. She breaks our stare and looks at him with a predatory smile.
"But I'm here for you of course, my dear husband." she says and walks up to him. She rubs his arm with her hand. That irritates me and I don't know why. Thankfully, he shrugs and her hand falls away from him. He gives her a snarl.
"Are you here to sign those papers? If not, I'm gonna have to ask you to go to hell." he said with a stern voice. His annoyance were clear in every way. Laura wasn't bothered by it though. She just shrugged her shoulders and walked slowly around the office.
"I can sign those papers, if you will make sure that I keep my share of the company and my position is intact. Otherwise, I will sadly have to decline your offer." she said in a cold voice.
Damien solidified. I did not like how Laura had such a negative effect on him. I knew about a small part of their backstory, but I felt it was far from the whole truth. I have to ask him about it sometime.
"You disturbed my and Wendy's conversation. You can go now, I don't want to have to drink my morning coffee while I'm gonna have to look at you." he said through bitten teeth.
"Oh, so you're on first name you and your assistant? Well, you must know each other really well." she said and her voice almost sounded like she was jealous.
"Maybe we do." he answered and shrugged his shoulders. "No matter, it has nothing to do with you, which you very well know. We're married on paper but nothing more. I don't want anything to do with you. Please leave before I get pissed."
She looked taken back by his words. For a second, it looked like he hurt her feelings. She smoothed over it very quickly with a mockery grin though and turned hastily towards me with a disgusted look.
"You, little assistant, should pay attention to how you behave in this workplace. Damien may be your boss, but I'm also on the board. You act like anything but professional, if I were you, I'd step back and learn from the pros instead." she said, throwing her hair over her shoulder on the way out. Her heels echoed against the stone floor and none of us said anything before we could hear the elevator going down. Then Damien could exhale, I could see how the tensions in his shoulders melted away like ice cream on a hot summer day.
"Are you alright?" I asked uncertainly.
He smiled at me and nodded slowly with his head. He looked tired. Before his wife had spat into the room, he had been happy and full of energy, now he was like an elder at the home.
"Yes, I'm okay. I got tired suddenly, that's all."
Without thinking, I moved towards him and wrapped him in my arms. He breathed out and relaxed even more.
"It's okay, I've got you." I cooed at him, understanding all to well how it feels to be run over by an ex. He enjoyed being in my arms. It wasn't until my babies thought it was too crowded that he moved when he got a kick in his chest. He looked terrified and I laughed at his facial expressions.
"Can-can I touch it?" he asked astonished of the sensation.
"Of course." I said with a smile and leaned my belly against his hand.
He touched it gently and his face shone up when a kick hit his hand. The look he gave my stomach confused me. He looked like he was holding his whole world in his hands. What was the deal with that? However, he must have found out himself pretty quickly with how he moved my stomach, he cleared his throat and took away his hand from me. My babies stopped kicking at the same moment he moved away from me, us.
"Is there something else I can help you with, Mr.Winston?" I asked in a sweet tone.
It looked like he suddenly remembered where they were. He immediately went into boss-mode and looked at the report I gave him earlier.
"Yes, I need you to scan this and send it back to the economy department. They have to fix this before the transfer is made."
"Yes, Sir." I answered and walked out of the office with the report in my hand.
I closed the door softly behind me and walked towards my desk. I sat down in my chair and was about to scan the document when a note on my computer catched my interest. My eyes widened when I read it.
"b***h, stay away from Damien if you know what's best for you. Otherwise I will make sure you get fired for breaking company policies."
What the hell? I didn't break any policies. I've only been here for a couple of hours for gods sake! There's only one person who would be bold enough to do this. Laura. What she doesn't know is that she's going to sign those papers very soon, either she wants to or not.

"Wendy!" someone yelled across the cafeteria.
I looked up and spotted Jaxon in line to get his food. I smiled and waved at him. I poked in my salad, the appetite gone long ago. The lower part of my stomach hurt and it wasn't the usual contractions. This really hurt! I tried to suppress a scream. I leaned back in the chair and hissed the pain. I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing as I learned to do.
"Hey Wendy, are you alright?" Jaxon said before me.
I opened my eyes and they must have held my unspoken pain, because he immediately looked around for Damien.
"I'm alright." I hissed through my teeth.
"No, you're not! Do you need to go to the hospital?"
"No! I'm okay."
He ignored me completely and started to make a call. I sat there in silence, praying that he didn't called Damien. He would probably fire me if I couldn't even make it through one day without having to go home!
"Hey man, you need to come down to the cafeteria. Wendy's here and it looks like she's in some serious pain. Mhm. No. No, she refuses and says that she's alright. What am I supposed to do? Okay, see you."
He hung up and looked at me with a stern face.
"He's coming."
"Yay." I said unenthusiastic.
I winced from the pain and I couldn't hold my moans of pain. My noice obviously made Jaxon freaked out, he paced before me and looked panicked. Suddenly the doors opened and Damien hurried towards us.
"Hi, are you okay?"
I'm about to answer when I almost dubble over from the pain. He sat down beside me and massaged the side of my stomach in slow circles. I breathed deep into my nose and exhaled through my mouth. We worked as a team and the pain subsided after a couple of minutes. Finally I opened my eyes and looked into his royal blue eyes and smiled thankfully.
"Thank you, I don't know what happened."
"It's alright, you probably stretched your side. This can happen if the child or in your case the children are facing too much on one side. Then there will be uneven weight and then you will not go in a good way." he answered calmly.
His words surprise me. He sure knew a lot about this kind of thing.
"I didn't know that. You're really educated in this perticular topic."
He shrugged his shoulders and looked away, trying to hide his blushing cheeks.
"I think the best to do is for you to get home, Wendy." Jaxon said in a "bigbrother" voice and looked directly at me.
"Agreed." Damien said.
"What?! But I need to work."
"No, you need to rest."
"I need to earn my money."
"You can earn them tomorrow, right now we are going home." Damien said and took my hand. He dragged me behind him.
"What do you mean 'we'?"
"Me and you. We're going home."
"But you need to work."
"I can work from home, please just don't fight me on this."
I exhaled and walked beside him out of the building. George was standing outside the car, waiting.
"Good day to you, George." I said and smiled big at him.
"Ah, Ms.Colton and Mr.Winston, good day to you."
"How did you know that I was going home?" I asked.
"The younger Mr.Winston called me and told me about the situation."
"Oh, well thank you very much for this, George." I said before climbing in the car.
Damien sat down beside me and texted furiously on his phone.
*
"Come on! Just for a moment!"
"Wendy, no. You are supposed to rest, not doing my taxes."
I huffed at that. I was pregnant, not invalid. I could move, think, breath and definitely sit down at the couch to count.
"But I'm bored!" I whined.
"I'm sorry, the answer is still 'no'." he calmly said without looking away from his laptop.
He scrunched his nose over and over. This was ridicilous, he was obviously not a mathematic and had trouble. Why wouldn't he let me help him?! I groaned and rised from my seat. Since I couldn't drink wine, tea would have to do. I waited patiently for the water to boil when my phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hi bestie! How are you?"
It was Adrian.
"Much better now when you called, my love." I said in a dramatic voice.
Damien looked at me confused.
"I know I know, I'm fabulous. You didn't answer my question though. How are you and the peanuts?"
"Me and the peanuts are fine, thanks for asking. How about you? Does Mr.lover boy treat you right?"
He laughed at me.
"Yeah, he does. Well not right now, since he's still sleeping. I thought the meaning with us going on a vacation was for us to be with each other, not sleep it all away."
"Just squirt in his face like the disgusting creature you are, ugh, have I thought you nothing?"
"Oh, enlighten me sensei, when have you ever squirted someone in the face?"
"Okay, you got me. I never have done that, yet."
"You truly are disgusting Wendy, you know that right?"
"Of course I know that, it's what's making me unique!"
"Trust me, I know. Well, I need to wake this fucker up. Talk to you later you polluted whore."
"Love you too, d**k head."
I smiled at hung up. Damien was looking at me like I've lost my mind.
"What?"
"You are a very strange person."
"And don't you ever forget it." I laughed.
He looked back at his computer and sighed. I sat down beside him. When I took the computer away from him, he didn't even try to take it back this time. I typed and counted inside my head. In a couple of minutes I was done. He looked at me like I had solved world hunger.
"Thank you."
"You're very welcome, boss." I answered and winked at him.
He just looked at me. His hand caressing my cheek. Those beautiful eyes looked me over like I was the star above. He licked his lips and I couldn't stop staring at his lips. His hand rested at my neck and our faces moved towards each other. We were just a centimeter away from kissing when his phone rang. We jumped apart and I excused myself awkwardly and ran inside my room. What the f**k just happened?!
