I felt the warmth of Tyran's arms around me.
I was hugging him back.
Suddenly, Tyran's phone rang as we both pulled away from each other and blushed.
Boy!
Just what was I thinking?
I looked at my side and noticed Tyran having his cheeks red as he grabbed his cell phone from his pocket and took it out.
"Hello?" I heard him say. "Oh, Principal? Mr. Scott? . . . yeah . . . My files are ready for the teachers' meeting . . ." he kept talking on the phone as he got out of the room to have some privacy.
I sighed.
My body was shivering. I hugged myself and felt my feet trembling as I collapsed on the floor.
Suddenly, I remembered how Tyran kissed my forehead and felt a sudden heat running on my cheeks.
No! No! Noooooo!
I must not think about this. It was just a kiss . . . that too in the forehead by my childhood friend.
I shouldn't be this nervous.
Why wasn't my body not listening to me? Why was my body acting differently?
Is this because . . . I never had any males this close to me?
But the kiss . . .
Memories popped into my head as I slapped my cheeks.
Calm down, Jess!
I had a mission to complete! I couldn't have my head filled with unnecessary thoughts.
Plus, Tyran is half Italian and as a tradition, Italian people kiss often in forehead or cheeks to show tenderness. Tyran was the same as them.
Tyran probably kissed my forehead because he found his childhood friend after a long time.
Yes, that's must be it.
I couldn't distract myself with these thoughts.
Suddenly, my phone rang. I looked a the caller ID and it was Agent Wilson.
"Hello, Agent Wilson," I said.
"Good morning, Agent Jade," he said. "I hope I didn't disturb your shooting practice."
Shooting practice?
An, darn it! I forgot to practice today but even if I wanted to, I couldn't because I was with Tyran.
"Jade?"
"No, no," I said. "You are not disturbing me, Agent Wilson."
"Good. I want to inform you that your uniform for the Starlight Colligate Institute school is already been made. Please come to your office to pick it up."
"Of course, I will," I said.
"Also, your school is starting next week. Are you prepared for your mission, Jade?" he asked.
"I am," I nodded. "Don't worry, Agent Wilson. I will be taking care of those criminals in the school and find out the main reasons why students got kidnapped."
"Alright then. I will be counting on you, Agent Jade," Agent Wilson said as he hung up the phone.
I sighed as I pulled my phone away from my ear.
"Who was that?" I heard a voice and jumped out. I looked back and saw Tyran.
I was shocked.
Did he heard it?!
"Did you hear anything?" I asked.
Please say 'no.'
"Nope," he said as I sighed.
Thank God.
"So," he said as he came closer to me. "Who was it?"
"My . . . my . . . friend," I lied.
Tyran narrowed his eyes. "Your friend?"
"Yes, my friend," I smiled.
"It is 6:30 am and your friend called you this early?" he asked. "Must be a special friend to you then."
I took a strand of my red hair and twirled it around my finger. "Well, we work in the same place so he was just giving me some information about my next project," I said.
It wasn't exactly a lie.
Except for the fact that he, Agent Wilson, was my boss. Not my friend.
I looked at Tyran and noticed him sulking a bit.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing," he sighed. "You are hungry?"
"Um . . ." before I could say my answer, my stomach made a growling sound.
I blushed in embarrassment as Tyran laughed.
"Well, I got my answer then," he smiled. "Let's go to the kitchen. We have to cook our own food."
"We have to?" I asked as I followed him as he began to make his way towards the staircase.
"Yeah," he said. "Stores are not open this early, you know?"
We got down the staircase as we went into the kitchen.
Tyran went near the refrigerator and opened it. "But, I am glad that dad at least got some food stored for us."
"Really?" I asked in happiness as I sneaked on the kitchen and saw only eggs and fruits."
My smile dropped. I looked around the kitchen and saw only a loaf of bread.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing is cooked here," I said.
"Yeah, well, we have to cook," he said.
"But . . . I . . ." I looked down my feet and embarrassedly said, "I don't know how to cook."
There was a moment of silence.
But then, I heard Tyran laughing.
"Hey!"
"You are 30 years old! And you don't know how to cook?" he laughed.
"That's not funny! I just suck at cooking!" I protested.
"What are you? 5 years old?" he laughed again. "Like seriously, don't you ever stay alone where you have to cook by yourself?"
I snorted.
I have stayed alone a lot in missions. Some missions went for months and I had to got to different countries and stayed in a hidden forest or even worse, in disguise of a begar to collect information and to solve the cases. In those times, I never had to cook because I never got the time to eat properly. I had to buy fruits and eat them since they are the only thing that we can eat raw.
Tyran noticed me not laughing at his joke and sighed. "Sorry for not making fun of you."
I nodded.
"Well how about," he said as he took out two eggs from the refrigerator on his hand and look at me. "We start the first day of our marriage with me cooking our meal?"
I looked at confusingly.
"Isn't it usually opposite, Tyran? Like the wife cooks for a husband?" I asked.
Tyran laughed. "We don't have to follow the norms of the society, Jess. Husband or wife . . . male or female . . . we both are equal and since we are stuck with each other," he said as he leaned closer to me, smiling at me. "We might as well share each others' strength."
I smiled.
I usually portrayed men in such bad way but the way Tyran was speaking to me, it was as if I wanted to believe him. Tyran was probably the first man who made my heart flattered in happiness this way.
"And," he leaned closer.
My breath heaved as his hand landed on my waist.
"You should just call me, Ty," he whispered.
My cheeks were so red. It was like all of a sudden, I felt shy. I wanted to stay with him but I was too shy to look at him.
"Ty?" I breathed.
"Good girl," he smiled and patted my head.
Then he moved away from me and went back to the stove to fry our omelets as I stood there in shock.
What just happened?
