Third Person POV
Joe sat in the basement of a building once owned by his father and watched Ana from a distance using one of his new found powers. It had only been a month since he gathered enough strength to rebuild physically and return to Earth. Joe was thin and pale, not the same man he had been when he grasped the gold bars.
His appearance was not the only part of him that changed. Ending his own life gave the desired effect. Ana and her father ignored his warning. They believed he was dead therefore their guard was down. His darkness being taken may have turned his body to ash but as death powered him, a new more dangerous evil arose. Joe's dark forces had strengthened making him more determined and capable than ever to destroy the prophecy.
As the days passed and he witnessed the recent changes his fury grew. Ana had been progressing perfectly. When he returned her heart was nearly fully overtaken by darkness thanks to him. Tearing David from their lives in such a way had been his best decision or so he initially thought.
How quickly things can change. As a man appearing to be her true fated love entered the picture Joe flew into a rage. If she followed her heart any chance at destroying the light would be lost. He knew Ana and her new love were the powerful fated pair of the prophecy and if their love was allowed to prosper he would be no match. As his fury grew Joe cast a ball of fire across the cold cement basement, watching as it ignited an old chest his father kept holding useless relics. As the flames died down he realized his only hope was if Ana continued to listen to the self loathing, guilt and doubt which he believed remained in her heart for that would keep her on his desired path.
Thankfully, he returned just in time to help guide Ana unknowingly from a distance. There was an obstacle though. Once a fated pair reached the age of 18 his powers were useless when it came to wielding them directly as a means to destroy their love. He needed to convince someone they knew and trusted to manipulate their choices.
