Many things were running through my mind. This place that Cole had driven me to was incredible. Its beauty was obvious, but there was a hint of darkness around it, a sadness that engulfed you, making it feel as if it was almost impossible to breathe. Whatever it was, I couldn’t help finding myself wondering more about Cole, specifically his past. What was the place to him, and why did it have this gut-wrenching feeling that made you instantly want to cry?
I wanted to ask those questions, but I was far more concerned with my safety. When Cole opened my door, I made a conscious decision to take off, running back down the gravel road we had driven up moments ago. Cole was laughing, amused by the fear that was settling inside of me. This side of him was far more terrifying than the dominant side I have seen so much of over the past week. I was way out of line, saying that he was all bark and no bite. Man, I messed up big time! Momentarily, I had forgotten who I was talking to. I had let my guard down around Cole, feeling comfortable with him. That was the biggest mistake I could have made.
Now we were in what I presumed to be his room. I mean, it looked like his room. It was as dark and mysterious as he was. The minimum amount of furniture one could have in their room was exactly what this room was. Cole only had a nice California King bed, which I had only ever heard about in my books. It was big enough to fit ten people or more if he wanted. He also had a leather chair in the corner of the room, which was a good distance away from his bed, a modernized black dresser, and two matching nightstands on either side of his bed. Other than that, the only thing left was a big black fluffy rug in the center of the room. This couldn’t be all, could it?
There wasn’t a whole lot of time for me to think before Cole sat on the edge of his bed while I grabbed the only other seat as far away from his I could. He removed his boots slowly enough that it began to match the rhythm of my heartbeat. After that, he took off his jacket, taking off his shirt next. Oh my! I wanted to look away from him, but I couldn’t. My eyes were glued to his tight abs and the muscles clenching around him as he moved. Cole was beautiful. I know that sounded so stupid, but dang it, if it wasn’t the truth. Cole was hot, but never did I think that he could somehow become hotter. How wrong I was to think that.
Soon, Cole had me pressed against the glass, running his fingers along the back of my legs. I was absolutely frozen in fear. Was he about to do what I thought he was? My question was answered when he told me that he had no intention of forcing me to do something I didn’t want to do. I let my body relax, but I soon tensed again, my breath hitching in my throat by his next words.
“You are in my house now, and it's time to play,” Cole said, placing his head against my neck, taking in the scent of me.
He flipped me around until I was staring into his eyes. Something was lingering in his eyes that had not been there before. His dominant presence was fighting to take over. I could see Cole trying to control it, but I could also see how hard that was for him. Cole was someone that was used to getting what he wanted, that much I could tell.
Cole parted his lips, waiting for me to give him permission to kiss me. I was at his mercy, my body already trying to surrender to him. When he sensed that, he grabbed my face hard and placed his lips over mine. His lips moved against mine roughly, trying to get me to open my mouth. When he bit slightly down on my bottom lip, my lips instantly parted. Cole then slipped his tongue into my mouth, claiming me, tasting me aggressively as if he wouldn’t get to taste me again.
When he pulled away, I was panting, completely out of breath. That was what Cole did to me. He could take my breath away as if it were something he did daily. How could my body feel so at ease with him? “Touch me, Mia,” he ordered.
I honestly wasn’t sure what he meant. “W…. what do you mean?”
Cole grabbed my hand, placing it in the center of his chest. My legs grew weak, the room heating at least ten degrees, if not more. The inside of my panties was soaked, ready for him to take me. No! This wasn’t what I wanted. Cole was somehow hypnotizing me into complying. I pushed him off me, running to his door. I jiggled the handle, but the door wasn’t budging. What was this?
Suddenly, I heard the clanking of keys bouncing off one another. As I turned to Cole, he was dangling a pair of keys in the air, turning his head sideways in excitement. “I will tell you what, Mia. If you can get the keys from me, I will stop and take you home. It is as simple as that. What do you say?”
This was all some game to him! I was nothing but something to occupy his time, and I was already sick of it! If he wanted to play, I would put on my best fake impression and play right along with him. Then, when he couldn’t take it anymore when he begged me for what he wanted most, I would deny him just as he had denied letting me go.
I stalked over to him, pulling my hoodie over my head and dropping it to the floor. Cole’s eyebrows rose in surprise but also excitement. “Mia, what are you doing?”
I didn’t respond. Instead, I walked over to him, placing both hands on his chest, rubbing gently. He tilted his head back, enjoying the feeling of my touch. It was hard to resist him, but I was fighting through. After all, there was a reason I was doing this, not to fall into my own trap. As my hands continued to caress his chest, I moved my head to his neck, swiping my tongue just below his ear.
Cole growled and slammed me hard against his wall, nearly putting a ginormous hole there. “What the f**k do you think you are doing?” He slammed his fists into the wall beside me. “You think that you are clever, but I can see right through you, Mia. You think that if you throw yourself at me, that I will let my guard down, and you can escape.” He smirked. “Well thought out, but it won’t work. Mia, you drive me f*****g wild, making me unaware of anyone but you, but I will never let my guard down around you. I want you in ways that I have never wanted anyone else, but do not mistake that for weakness.” He pulled me into his arms, letting my chest swipe across his. “You have seen how unbreakable I am. Let’s see just how far I can push you.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I f*****g lied! My control was slipping and slipping faster than I anticipated. I was keeping it together, but barely. If I had let her continue, she would have had me on my knees begging for just a taste of her. Since when have I become so weak? Since when have I let a woman control me?
Mia spoke, pulling me back out of my head. “What are you going to do, Cole? You already said that you wouldn’t force me to do anything with you. If you aren’t going to force me to have s*x with you, then I am afraid there isn’t much you can do to me.”
“Oh, princess, that is where you are wrong,” I responded, dragging her over to my bed. She gasped when I laid her down gently, probably from the feeling of my sheets against her skin. They were specially made to heighten certain erotic senses. “Stay there.”
I got up, reaching into my dresser, pulling out a blindfold. Mia sat up the instant she saw it in my hands. “No way! Get that away from me, Cole!”
“Relax,” I said calmly. “This isn’t going to hurt you. I would never hurt you, princess, not on purpose anyway.” Before she could argue, I placed it over her eyes, shutting her off from the world. I lowered the bar from the top of my bed, cuffing her arms above her head.
Mia was kicking and screaming, but that wouldn’t bother me. I reached for the remote control, pushing a button, allowing my television to swing around from behind the wall. I pushed one button that made the surround sound come to life. People f*****g began to play loudly all over the house, drowning out any screams from Mia.
She had no idea what was happening, and I thought it was f*****g hilarious. A woman like that, who has never been touched before, would be begging for a release after listening to the sound of skin on skin for hours. The moans and screams from the women on the television would have her begging me to take her like that. So, I turned it up louder, unlocked my door, and stepped out, closing it behind me.
When I got downstairs into the kitchen, Joel pushed me against the fridge. “What the f**k is wrong with you, bringing Mia here?!”
“Get the f**k off me before I beat your f*****g head into the counter!’ Joel knew what was good for him, so he calmed down a little, letting me go. “What I do with Mia is not your concern!”
“Yeah? Well, do you know that we have a job coming up? If that girl is clouding your judgment, everything can go south for us! We don’t need you f*****g it up, getting someone hurt!”
I snarled at him, my teeth showing like I was some rabid animal ready to attack, but I didn’t care. “Do not ever question my ability again! How many jobs have I successfully completed when I was at my worse?” Joel remained silent. “Exactly! Mia or no Mia, the job will get done like it always does, and we all will get paid.”
“I’m only looking out for you, Cole! Getting p***y is not more important than your boys.”
“What did you just say to me?” I grabbed him by the throat, squeezing as hard as I could. The other guys came into the kitchen, trying their best to break us up. “Mia’s name is to never come out of your mouth again, Joel! What I do in my spare time is no concern of yours, brother.”
I let him go, hearing him choke on his saliva as I walked away. I pulled open the glass door, leading out the back deck overlooking the forest surrounding me. What was I doing? Here I was fighting with my best friend over some girl that I had just met. This person that I was turning into wasn’t me. Maybe it was for the best if I stopped pursuing Mia. The more I thought about it, the more I knew I couldn’t be able to leave her alone. I had to ask myself what did she mean to me. s*x, I thought. It was always about s*x, nothing more. I pondered on the thought, knowing that wasn’t the case with Mia. Sure, having s*x with her would be a bonus, but I found myself wanting to know everything about her.
After an hour passed, I walked back up to my room, turning off the television and uncuffing Mia. “I’m sorry, this was a mistake,” I said to her as I unbound her wrists and took off the blindfold. “I will take you home.”
Mia stared at me, confused as to why I was hungry for her an hour ago, and now I didn’t even want to be near her. I could never confess the truth. My past was dark, morbid, and mine to bear. It was that very reason that I needed to stop this right now and clear my head.
I threw her jacket at her, Mia catching it just as it got ready to hit her in the face. “Put your jacket on and meet me downstairs. I will warm the car.”
I must have waited ten minutes or more when I became impatient. Where the hell was she? I needed to get her home and away from me so I could think clearly. When I went back inside and up to my room to see what the hold-up was, Mia wasn’t there. Instead, there was a note on my bed.
I will find my own way home! It read, and I could see the stain of a wet spot on the corner of the page, letting me know that wherever she was, she was crying, and it was my fault.
