Chapter Eight

The school day was as long and tedious as it usually was. Cole didn’t happen to meet me in between classes today, which I was not going to complain about one bit. Gavin exchanged a few looks with me throughout the day, but before he could approach me, I took off each time. I just didn’t want Cole seeing him talking to me. That was a fight that I would rather keep from happening. As much as Cole got on my nerves and as big-headed as Gavin was, I didn’t want them fighting over me. It was childish and stupid, in my opinion. Honestly, If I could get rid of them both, that would be the best thing that could happen to me. Something told me that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.            Gavin was still expecting me to go out with him Saturday only because I got jealous of that girl and said yes, only to make Cole mad. I didn’t really feel for Gavin the way that I felt for Cole. I know that I shouldn’t have any feelings for Cole at all, especially with the way he treats me, but I couldn’t help it. The more I tried pushing him out of my mind, the more I found myself thinking about him. However, that doesn’t mean that I will let him push himself into my life, trying to control me. Nope! Not going to happen!            I was young and had a full life ahead of me. Only one school year left, and I was free to do whatever I pleased. I could travel the world, write a book of my own, possibly even go to college. One thing I knew for sure was that I was getting the heck out of this town. I loved my parents and was thankful for the life they have given me, but I needed freedom, independence to live on my own. Gosh, I dreamt of that day. I could not wait for the life I had ahead of me. The only thing that I needed to do was make it through the rest of the school year. That was easier said than done now that I had attracted the attention of the school bully.            At the end of the day, I made my way to my locker, as usual, putting all my books inside except for one. Again, when I opened my locker, there sat another M&M on top of my other books. Who in the world keeps leaving these? Like last week, I turned around to see if anyone was looking in my direction. Most of everyone had left for the day, and only a few were in the halls, and none of them were paying me any attention at all. I didn’t know if I should be happy by this romantic gesture or creeped out that someone not only knew my locker number but knew my locker combination. Not only that, but they knew my favorite color and my favorite candy too.            When I shut my locker door, I jumped at the sight of Cole on the other side. I clutched at my heart while giving him a disconcerting look. He took notice of it immediately. Cole grabbed my chin, forcing me to stare into his eyes, which I tried to avoid as often as possible. “What is it? Did someone say something to you to upset you?”            “Why do you even care? I thought that when I walked away from you earlier that it was obvious that I wanted you to leave me alone.”            Cole followed along as I walked outside toward the student parking lot, which I had to pass by to get home. “Yeah, it was obvious, but I don’t have any plans to leave you alone until I’m ready to leave you alone. I said that I was sorry about earlier. I may have gone a little too far.”            I swiftly turned around, balling my hands into fists. “May have gone a little too far? No, you were past the point of going too far. You went far beyond just far, Cole. I think that you only continue this interest in me because you are bored with your life and think you can find some kind of excitement with me. Well, let me tell you that it will never happen between us, so you might as well give up now. No way would I ever give myself over to you, not even if you were the last guy on Earth.”            Should I have felt bad for snapping on him like that? Maybe, but I wasn’t. Cole deserved any hateful words I had for him, even though they didn’t come across as mean as I wanted them to. I decided to ask him what I wanted to ask, though I was already sure of the answer. “Have you been putting M&M’s in my locker?”            Cole was stunned by my question. His face was full of shock at first, then turned sour as he digested it. “What do you mean? Has someone been putting M&M’s in your locker? Since when?”            Yup! I should have guessed that it wasn’t Cole. No way could he ever show any ounce of romance. Instead, I had a secret admirer, one that I was a little creeped out by. Why not just tell me who they were? Why keep it a secret?            “I asked you questions!” Cole grumbled low in his chest, detesting whoever dared to get involved with me so long as he was.            “Shouting at me isn’t going to make me answer your questions!” I snapped back at him. “You should learn some respect, or no one will ever give you any. There may be many people in this town that are scared of you, but I’m not, not anymore. You are all bark and no bite!”            Okay, I admit, that last part just kind of slipped out. I shouldn’t have said it. I shouldn’t have even opened my big freaking mouth. Cole twisted his lips into a devilish curl. He squinted his eyes, slightly raising his eyebrows. “Oh, is that right?”            Well, at least I derailed the conversation from my mystery stalker. Now I was seriously regretting opening my mouth. The way that Cole was looking at me, stalking toward me with a mischievous glint in his eyes, sent chills all over my body. Okay, I changed my mind. I was still scared of him, still very scared of him. “I take it back!” I squealed as he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder.            “Do you? Well, I would say it is a little too late for takebacks, Mia.” He threw me into his car, taking his time buckling me in securely. “Stay put now. We are going for a drive.”            ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------            I licked my lips as I got into my car, taking off in the opposite direction of Mia's home. This was like a cat and mouse game that I enjoyed playing. I didn’t think that Mia would pique my interest so much, but it turns out that she is full of surprises. She thought that I was all bark and no bite, huh? Well, she was just about to see how I handle girls that disobeyed me, especially out in public.            The drive wasn’t a long one, just about fifteen minutes. I lived outside of the town limits, in a three-story cabin in the woods that was more than enough room. My parents left it for me, or should I say my mother left it for me. Now, I stayed here along with Joel and a few of our other friends. We held parties here almost every weekend, some exclusive, some not. This has been my home for a long time now, and I have been on my own for what seems like even longer.            Mia’s face said it all as we pulled up the gravel road leading to my home. The outside had two large open windows that allowed the natural light to fill the house while it held his dark aura surrounding the rest of it. She could see it for exactly that because Mia was different. Mia could see what others couldn’t, which was why I found myself intrigued by her.            I stepped out of the car, walking slowly over to her side. When I opened the door, she was hitting the gravel, trying to run away from me. I smiled, realizing what must be going through her mind. Oh, what fun this was going to be. I took off running to her, picking her up around the waist before she got too far.            “Put me down this instant, Cole! I’m not messing around!”            “Neither am I,” I whispered in her ear, carrying her by the waist back up to the house.            Mia put up a good fight, which was strange for her small figure. I would have figured that she would be much easier to subdue, but that was another thing that I underestimated her on. Once I finally got her inside, my friends stopped what they were doing, turning to stare at us in disbelief. Joel had an unmistakable look of hatred across his face. It was no secret that he was not a fan of Mia’s, whatever his reasons were.            “We will be in my room if anyone should need us. If it isn’t an emergency, don’t bother us.”            My other friends, Ace, Maverick, and Soren, smiled as I carried her up the stairs. I could hear their snickers even from the top floor. My room was on the top floor, which I had all to myself. Everyone else stayed either on the second or first floor. I liked to have my privacy, which was why I had turned the entire third floor into one large room.            I let Mia go the second we got inside my room after closing and locking the door. She backed away from me, never taking her eyes off me. I could see how scared she was of me, scared of what I might do. Yes, I was a monster in some people’s eyes, but I wasn’t about to do what she thought I was going to. I like my women compliant, but I wanted it to ultimately be their decision whether they slept with me or not. I would never force myself on a woman. However, I would push them to extreme lengths, pushing their bodies until they wanted me the way that I wanted them. Mia was different, but it was high time that I showed her that I wasn’t someone to f**k with. She had this bad habit of opening her mouth, but she had no idea what I was truly capable of. She was about to find out a fraction of who I was.            “Sit,” I commanded.            Surprisingly, Mia complied. She found my leather chair sitting in the corner of the room, far away from where I was, which was on my bed. I untied my big, heavy boots, unlacing them slowly on purpose. After that, I stood up, took my jacket off, and peeled my t-shirt off over my head. Mia’s eyes were glued to me, not blinking even once.            I began to inch toward her, slowly, seductively. She tensed in her seat until I got too close, and she stood to her feet, backing as far into the corner as she could go. “Please,” she begged. “I shouldn’t have said that. I’m sorry.”            The bad part was that she was sincere. Mia was undoubtedly sorry and regretted her words. Mia was undeniably afraid, shaken to her very core, exactly how I wanted her to be. I grabbed hold of her, moving her over to one of the big windows. I turned her around, pressing her face against the glass and her ass closer to my erection. There was no way that she couldn’t feel me, and it pleased me to know it.            “I won’t take you, Mia. You can relax. Your body is your body, not mine, not yet. When I say that you are mine, your mind and soul are mine. This body of yours belongs to you until you willingly hand it over to me.” Her body instantly relaxed, now realizing that I had no intention of f*****g her senseless. “However, that doesn’t mean that I won’t tempt you, tease you until the point your body craves for my touch,” I said while running my fingers up and down the back of her legs. “You are in my house now, and it’s time to play.”
