He went back to his mom’s room to wake her up, but rather to his surprise she was already awake. She pulled him in, shushing him. Stay here, Devin. Devin nodded jerkily as she donned her robe and tiptoed outside. He wanted very much to follow her but he’d promised to stay. So Devin waited. And waited. And waited. Until he couldn’t wait anymore. He needed to find out what was going on. What if Sebastian was out there, hurting her? Devin slipped silently out of the room and down the wide flight of stairs leading to the sitting room.
