Waking up the following day, I was glad to find I didn’t have a hangover, but not so happy to see I had overslept. I knew I didn’t actually have to be up at a particular time every day. My schedule was based on my writing, but I found it helped to keep a schedule nonetheless. Sighing, I rolled out of bed and went in, and took a shower. Skipping my workout for today wasn’t the end of the world anyway. Since I didn’t have anywhere I had to be today, nor did I have any meetings. So I decided to be comfortable today and dressed in a pair of light blue fluffy pajama pants and an oversized t-shirt that sported a tiger on the front. And since I wasn’t planning on seeing anyone today, I opted not to put on any makeup and pulled my hair up into a messy bun. Once I was done, I headed down and made myself a bowl of oatmeal, and started the coffee pot.
With my oatmeal eaten and my second cup of coffee in hand, I grabbed my laptop and set myself up in the front room to start. To ensure I wasn’t distracted, I put my headphones in, hit shuffle on my liked songs on Spotify, and got to work. I had until tomorrow at noon to have five chapters done and sent to my publishers. Five chapters that I had initially had done already until I decided to change the course of where my story was going. So really, I only had myself to blame. I worked for hours, losing track of time. All I knew was the sun was starting to go down, and I was starving. Also, I had drunk a whole pot of coffee all by myself and was now wired and stuck. I had three chapters done and two to go, and my brain didn’t want to keep going. Frustrated, I pulled my headphones out of my ears and stood from the couch where I was sitting. Moving around the living room, I stretched out my arms and back. As I passed the coffee table, I turned my laptop around and pushed the screen back so I could see the words on the screen every time I passed it. I did this for a good fifteen or twenty minutes, and I was just about to give up and close my laptop when I started getting an incoming facetime.
Answering it, Gloria’s face popped up on the screen. “Hey Soph, how’s it going?” I sighed, “Could be going better. I decided yesterday to change the book's direction, and I have until tomorrow to turn in five chapters, which would be fine. I have three done, but I am stuck.” She gave me a sad smile, “Wish I could help you.” I laughed, “No worries, I will get it. Maybe I just need a break, so your calling is perfect timing.” She laughed with me. She may have been hired to be the face of my pen name, but she was an amazing woman. She and I spoke all the time. She was one of the few people I felt comfortable with telling everything to. We talked after my breakfast with Jax and after he had invited me out on our date. I was sure she was looking for information and knew I would give it to her. We spent the next thirty minutes catching up with each other. I was so engrossed in our conversation I hadn’t realized I was still standing.
I filled her in on my date the night before turning the computer and sitting back down on the couch. But the second I did that, someone rang my doorbell. Sighing, I stood back up, “Hold on, Gloria.” She nodded as I walked over to the door and opened it. Standing on the other side of my door was Jax, a big smile on his face as he took in what I was wearing. I smiled at him, “Jax?” He held up a bag of food I hadn’t noticed him holding. “I thought that since you were working all day, I would stop by and bring you something to eat and see if I could talk you into taking a break?” I raised an eyebrow at him. Smirking, I placed a hand on my hip. “Well, I guess that depends on what is in that bag.” His smile grew. “I guess you will just have to agree to have dinner with me to find out.” I shook my head but kept my smirk on my face. “Hmm, I don’t know. I do have a lot left to do.” As the two of us flirted, I forgot that Gloria was still face timing me, and she could hear and see us. But in Gloria fashion, she reminded me she was there by making gagging sounds. Jax, unable to see my laptop from his spot in the doorway, raised an eyebrow at me as I started laughing.
“Jesus, you two need to just get a room and get it over with.” I shook my head and motioned for Jax to come in as I walked back over to my computer. “Bye, Gloria.” She winked at me with a large smile on her face. I shook my head at her and ended the call. “I didn’t mean to interrupt your call.” I smiled at Jax, “It’s ok I will talk to her tomorrow. Besides, I am starving, so what did you bring?” He smiled, “Chinese food. If you don’t like that, we can order something else.” My smile grew, “That is perfect.” We headed into the kitchen together. While he unloaded the containers from the bag, I grabbed a couple of plates from the cupboard. As I pulled the plates down, though, I didn’t have a hold of them as well as I thought and dropped them. Both plates shattered as they hit the floor. “Shit.” Before I could move to start cleaning up the mess, Jax was in front of me. “Are you ok?” I nodded, “Yeah.” With his hands on my sides, he lifted me, as though I weighed nothing, and set me on the counter. “Where's your broom.” I tried to scoot down off the counter, but he pushed me back.
“Don’t be silly. You have no shoes on. Now, where’s your broom.” I rolled my eyes at him, but he was right. I didn’t have shoes on, and there were small pieces everywhere. “It’s in the little cupboard next to the fridge there.” Nodding, he watched me as he got the broom out and started sweeping up the mess. “You really didn’t have to do that.” He shook his head as he finished sweeping up the last of the broken plates, “I don’t mind.” Giving me a large smile, he walked overtaking two more plates out of the cupboard and walked over to the table. Sliding down off the counter, I followed him sitting down. We eat in comfortable silence for a bit. “Do you mind if I ask you a question?” I smiled at him. He was slightly nervous, which I found cute. He looked like this big bad biker dude, and you would never think he would be nervous about anything. But I had seen him nervous before, and last time it was while he was getting information about me and why I was in town. So to see him slightly nervous again intrigued me. We had officially gone out on a date, and never once did he show any signs of being nervous during that time. Nodding, I took another bite of my food but watched him. “Well, I was wondering….And I guess it’s really none of my business, and you don’t really have to answer if you don’t want to...But if you knew Sue was your mom and you weren’t sure if you wanted to talk to her just yet. Why did you hire her to decorate your house?” Well, that wasn’t at all where I thought he was going to go with that. I smiled at him and shrugged. “Simple, she had the best reviews. That’s why I used my pen name when I hired her. I would have gone with her if she wasn’t my mom anyway, based on her reviews.” Nodding, he went back to eating, dropping the subject. I finished my food and took my plate to the sink. When I turned around, he was watching me.
“Can I ask you something?” He nodded. “What exactly is your endgame?” He raised an eyebrow. “I mean, you show up on my doorstep because your club is loyal to my mom, and you want to protect her. I get that. But then you ask me out. Which, don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of fun on our date. And then you show up at my door with food and again bring up the subject of my mom. Leaving me confused. I mean, are you interested in keeping my mom safe and looking for more information for the club. Or are you interested in me? I mean, it seems like a lot of work to just have a one-night stand. So maybe a fling, a bit of fun, or maybe something more? What are you looking for, Jax?” As I talked, I slowly walked back towards the table, the whole time he watched me. His eyes went from staring me in the eyes to roaming my body and back. The closer to him I got, the darker his eyes got with need. I could tell even with him still sitting at the table that his d**k was hard. “I honestly don’t know.” His voice wasn’t more than a whisper. His eyes were back on mine, and I could tell he wasn’t lying. Closing the distance between us, I lowered myself down on his lap. My legs straddling his, my hands on his shoulders.
“If I was to let you take me upstairs right now and do to me whatever it is you are thinking of right now, would I get a call tomorrow, or would that be it? We would just be neighbors who acknowledged each other if we saw each other?” From under me, I could feel his d**k pulse with excitement at the mention of going upstairs. From this position, he felt quite large, and I was honestly considering letting him take me upstairs no matter his answer, and I wasn’t one to really go for the one-night stand thing. I watched as he swallowed hard then slowly shook his head no. I moved my hips just slightly, making his d**k twitch from the friction. His hands moved to my hips, stopping me. I gave him a small smile. “No to what, Jax? No, you wouldn’t call me tomorrow?” He didn’t respond. I wasn’t sure if he could even speak at the moment as I watched him, his breathing was already ragged, and his d**k was pushing hard on his pants, wanting out. “Or no, we wouldn’t go back to just being neighbors?” Slowly he nodded his head. Moving just as slow as I did when I walked over to him, I moved my hands from his shoulders up and around the back of his head, tangling my fingers in his hair as I closed the distance between us and pressed my lips to his. He responded instantly, changing my soft kiss into one filled with heat and need. Our lips moved together, parting at the same time, allowing our tongues to collide with each other. As our tongues fought for control, I moved one of my hands down to his hand that was still resting on my hips and guided it up under my shirt. That seemed to be all the encouragement he needed as his hand moved up my side. His thumb grazed the bottom of my boob, making him moan when he realized I wasn’t wearing a bra. I hadn’t put one on since I wasn’t leaving the house today, nor had I planned to see anyone. I moved my hand back to his hair as his other hand started to move up my side. As his hand moved, he pushed my shirt up, his thumb grazing the bottom of my other boob as he continued to push my shirt up. And at that moment, just as we were both ready to lose ourselves completely. The moment I was ready not to give a s**t if he was lying or not. If this ended up being a one-night stand, I was okay with it. That moment had to be when someone else decided to show up at my house and ring the doorbell. It had been like we were floating, but when the doorbell rang, we came crashing back to Earth. His hands fell back down to my hips, my shirt falling back down with them. Our lips parted from each other as we both gasped for air. Slowly I stood up, untangling my fingers from his hair gaining me a disapproving grunt from him. I smiled at him and pecked him on the lips before leaving him to find out who was at my door.
