Chapter 1

*Almost 21 years later *

“Amos, do you know where my keys are?” asking my roommate if he seem my car keys

“No, I don’t know where your keys are?”

“Damn it, I am going to be late if I don’t find them!”

 “Did you leave them in the car again have you checked there?”  not in the mood to be playing games with him today he loves to f**k around and hide my keys. As, I am walking out to check in the car I see them laying right there in the side table.

“Amos, I found them I am headed to practice I will see you guys later.” I yelled, I got into the car and headed to cheerleading practice, my phone rings I glance at the caller ID, it’s flashing Raven across it, I pick it up.

 “WHERE ARE YOU AT?” Raven screaming at me.

“I am on my way Amos, hide my keys again so I spend the better half of two hours looking for them.”   I explain to her even though it doesn’t matter since I am cheerleading captain.

“Coach, is one of her moods today at least tell me that you are already dressed and don’t have to change.” Now she is getting on my nerves I swear, I roll my eye at the screen and answer her.

“Yes, I am dressed out already damn, don’t getting your wand in a bunch.” Laughing at my comment.

“Don’t make me turn you in a worm missy!” she said with a slick sound in her voice.

“Well, I just got into the parking lot I will be right in.” I tell her as I am parking the car, getting, and grabbing my bag. I head for the gym, walk in and the coach says

“Look, who decided to join us, Ms. Angelsin!” Coach Winters exclaimed

“Sorry, I am late, I lost my keys and then got stuck in traffic.” I said with an apologetic look on my face the one that one the innocent people give.

“Ok, you are forgiven dear, now come on let’s get to practicing we only have 4 days until Nationals.”

“OK, girls are you ready” I ask the team before I start the cheer routine and dance.

“We are the Mistbrite Ravens, here to show you who is the best, you don’t stand a chance because Purple and Black will best the Mistbrite Ravens FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!!!”

“While we start walking to get into pyramid formation, we do this chant” OUR TEAM IS WHAT? DYNOMITE, OUR TEAM IS WHAT? DYNOMITE, OUR WHAT? TICK, TICK, TICK, BOOM, DYNOMITE. (LIFT UP THE FLYERS) Which are who Summer?

“Amara, Serentiy, and Raven.” She answers

“Then we hold the pyramid through the next cheer” I inform them

“WHEN WE SAY MISTBRITE, YOU SAY RAVENS, MISTBRITE, (CROWD) RAVENS ,WHEN WE SAY PURPLE, YOUR SAY BLACK, PURPLE , ( CROWD) BLACK, WHEN WE NUMBER, YOU SAY 1, NUMBER, (CROWD)1, WHEN WE SAY MISTBRITE, YOU SAY RAVENS, WHEN WE SAY PURPLE, YOU SAY BLACK, WHEN WE SAY NUMBER , YOU SAY 1 , MISTBRITE, (CROWD) RAVENS, PURPLE, (CROWD) BLACK, NUMBER,(CROWD)1 , NUMBER 1!!)

“Nice job on the cheers and the formation, now just remember you have to do your jumps and tumbles, after we do the do our tosses, we get into the dance formation, we have about 30 seconds before the song starts and it’s a 3-minute routine.” Music starts for the dance routine we did the routine and finished. I looked at them and smiled

 “I got to say you looked great! I want to thank you ladies for coming in before classes today and practicing, we will have practice twice tomorrow and then one on Thursday, I don’t want to wear you think before Friday. Remember, we are hosting this year’s competition, so that means you need to be on your best behaviors, you will each be hosting a team and you will be showing them around, I will have the teams assignments by tomorrow’s morning practice, the first teams should be here tomorrow evening, Thursday is mandatory uniform day you will be wearing our game uniforms our competition uniforms will be given to you guys Friday morning when we start getting ready, they are a surprise and I don’t want to the other teams to see them do you understand me?”  in unison they answered my question

 “Yes, Captain” good you all are dismissed, have a momentous day, and see you tomorrow at 8 instead of seven. I walked to the locker room to change I have advanced Potions class this morning, yuck. Here comes Raven, yelling my name god this girl I love her, but I just can’t with her right now.

“Mara, damn it wait for me!”

“What Raven, some of have class to get to. Not all of us have a rich mommy and daddy that donate and pay for us to attend here.” I said being a smartass, she is my best friend, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Ouch, which hurt why are you in such a foul mood today?”  giving me a serious tone down expression

“I don’t know, lack of sleep is catching up to me. Since, I have finished all my classes except for advanced potions which I finish labs today and we have finals next week, I picked up an extra shift at the Tavern, then practice and then studying on top of it all. I will be glad when this semester is over with, and we finally get a break.” I tell her.

I am thinking to myself I will be graduating with my master’s degree in Meta-Magically Sciences, in less than 2 weeks and I have a then summer off before coming back to starting my Doctorate’s in Meta-Magically. I have 3 months until my 21st birthday, it’s supposed to be the big year for me, The Witches Elder council and Queen Scarlett are supposed to hand the throne to me if I want it. I don’t know if I do, yes, it’s my birthright but I have never been trained to be the Queen of Witches, which was supposed to be my mother’s job to start training me at 10 how to control and unlock my magic and then start showing me how to be the Queen of Witches. But since she wasn’t here, I never got then training, Queen Scarlett is Raven’s mother she was asked to take over as Regent until I was old enough to take the throne.

 I was raised by my mother’s half-sister Roseline and her my mother’s step-mother grandmother Amanda, when my mother died giving birth to me and my father left a few month later leaving me in the care of them, the Elder’s said that they are not of fully blood related to my mother so they will not be entitled to any funds set forth by the kingdom for the queen, all my allowances that they had were set into an account for me until I turned 21 and took over as queen, so they were force to move out from the Castle Cottage that they lived at and move into a small house on the outer-part of the kingdom, My grandmother, had been living through my mother and her father for so long that she didn’t see fit that she needed to get a job and take care of me and my aunt she was married and 4 children of her own and she stayed at home while her husband work, I was made to cook, clean and take care of the children since I was the oldest, there were times where I didn’t get to eat, or take a bath or even have new clothes.

When I would go to school everyone except for Raven would make fun of me because of the way I dressed or looked, she was my only friend beside my familiar Nova, she is a celestial peacock, she gorgeous. When I am snapped back from my own mind by Autumn.

“Hey, Mara how are you I wanted to see if you had some time to collaborate with me so my spell work, I am having trouble controlling energy and casting it properly!” she said with a sheepish smile.

“I have advance potions in about 15 minutes and then I am free, what does your schedule look like I know most of you still have full classes until Thursday.” I ask her

“I have classes until Next Wednesday, only day I don’t is Friday because of Competition. I have a free period my last class ends at 2, and I will be free after that.” She explained

“Well, I will be at the Tavern, I start work as soon as I finish class at 10:30 I only had to come and finish my last lab, before I take finals next week. So, come down there once you finish and I will help you.” I tell her

“Thanks, you are the best, Well I’ll see you later, have a momentous day.” She said smiling and running off
