The Betrayal

(Sadie's P.O.V) The taste of metal threatened to suffocate me. I could feel myself choking on the thick sticky fluid that was my blood. I struggled to roll over to my side and cough out what was filling my lungs, I was beginning to get more desperate as it was becoming harder and harder to breathe. No internal bleeding from what I could tell but my jaw was definitely broken and my tongue was bitten in half when he broke my jaw. Asshole wanted to make damn sure I wouldn't be screaming out for help anytime soon, not that I'd give him the satisfaction either way. I felt a single tear betray my resolve and slide down my cheek. He smirked when he noticed the tear. "You were never meant to lead let alone become our Alpha," he spat the last word, "and to think you were almost named as our Alpha," he laughed in disbelief and gave a swift kick to my stomach, helping me to finally roll over to my knees and violently cough out a mouthful of blood. He laughed again, this time a little more hysterical. This laugh sent a trail of goose bumps down my spine. He was emitting so much anger it was making me physically sick to my stomach. How did I not see how evil and twisted Brandon was? Was I just blind and naive, consumed with a school girl crush I had once upon a time? I mentally shook my head, there was no way I was that stupid nor was he that good at being a manipulative bastard. Someone else was pulling his strings and whispering sweet nothings into his ear and almost as if she could hear my thoughts... "Still alive I see?" she said in a sweet and innocent sing-song voice. I rolled my eyes at the mock innocence she was displaying as Alice came into view. Like a puppy desperate for his owners attention, Brandon came up behind her and snaked his arms around her waist, "I was waiting for you my love," he said, licking her neck where his mark was. She moaned and I could feel myself getting even more nauseas. She looked down at me with the same amount of disgust I had for her. She scoffed then winced at the sight of my blood pooling near her designer shoes, "This s**t makes me sick, it's all you babe. Just shower when you're done here and we can play," she sighed biting his lip before skipping to the door, "Oh and babe," she stopped and locked eyes with me, "Touch her in any other way than to kill her I'll be choking you with your own d**k," she let her wolf peek through and flashed her eyes black with malice before she smiled sweetly and left. You wouldn't know it by looking at her but that cute bubbly blond had a vicious side to her, a side that I had once simultaneously feared and admired her for as not just my best friend but also my future lieutenant who would have been second in command to the male commander. Next to me, she was the second highest ranked wolf in our pack and stood on equal grounds with the other males. Brandon, although he was a dimwit, he was also one of our top five male warriors and was another one of my best friends. Once we all turned 18 Brandon and Alice found out they were destined mates and became glued to each other's hip and since I still hadn't found my mate I had become consumed with work and preparing to take over our pack as the first female Alpha in over five hundred years. It was around then that we all started to become distant from one another. Our friendships had become more professional and I had to start treating them as my Gamma couple which meant they too had to start working on pack duties and Alice hated work. My thoughts came to an abrupt halt as I felt a rib crack under Brandon's boot as he kicked me yet again. I gasped for air when the wind was knocked out of me, "You're dead Brandon. As soon as I'm free I'm fucken' ripping off your head," I slurred. My tongue was still healing but at least my jaw was mostly in place now, "Kill," I heard my wolf growl. Brandon took a step back as my eyes flashed black and silver before composing himself again, "That's if you get free," he laughed looking around, "No one knows you're here and no one will until we decide it's time for them to find your body." He kicked me again, knocking me to the ground face first, dislocating my jaw. I groaned as I felt my shoulder dislocate to once it came into contact with his boot again and then felt my nose crack as it hit the pavement. Stars dance across my vision, I was struggling to stay conscious. My wolf wanted out. She kept pacing my subconscious. She wanted revenge for their betrayal and I wanted it for the deaths they were responsible for tonight but between the blood loss and variety of broken bones I've already sustained my wolf was too busy trying to keep me alive let alone conscious. "Enough games," Brandon faked a yawn, "I'm bored and since Alice isn't going to let me play with you..." he shrugged, "I guess I'll just kill you now." He yanked me up by the back of my hair and pulled me in close, "You should have been mine and I should have been named Alpha," he growled, "At least that way I could have just killed you after the naming ceremony or at least taken my time with it, but no-" I could smell his rage building, "Instead I got paired with Alice and you decided to get high and mighty and boss us around like you were already in charge," he spit in my face and sneered as he loomed closer to my face, "Like I said before, you were never meant to become an Alpha, let alone my Alpha," he said thru gritted teeth, his eyes flashing red with hatred. I could feel his nails elongate and begin digging into my neck but before he could rip out my throat a loud explosion threw us both against the wall. My ears rang from the blast and my vision blurred and doubled. Brandon laid sprawled out on the floor next to my feet, his hand firmly on my ankle. Looks like he was trying to keep me apprehended before he too lost consciousness. I gave him a quick kick in the face and smirked when I heard a satisfying crunch before crawling my way towards the new opening of the wine cellar. A sharp pain radiated through my stomach. I took a deep breath and tried to power through the pain but each move I made the pain grew worse until finally my vision clouded over with mere shadows and flickering objects. I was close to losing consciousness and I hadn't even made my escape yet. I let out a desperate whine as the distance between me and my escape looked impossible to make. I lay my head on the cool concrete to catch my breath before trying to move once more. I took one more deep breath and inhaled a lungful of concrete and dust, making me laugh uncontrollably. This time the pain caused me to see little white stars. I was about to black out from the pain. Suddenly, I felt an arm around me, holding me close to their own body for stability. I heard someone's muffled shouting while we headed for the exit. Friend or foe only the moon goddess knew, I lost my battle of wills and succumbed to the darkness and prayed this wasn't my death I was being carried off to; I had a murder to plot and I'll be damned if my death was going to keep me from my vengeance.
