[Once upon a time there was a boy who loved a girl, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering.] Blyth sat on her bed staring at her ceiling, one thought racing across her mind. The one thing or person that constantly stayed on her brain, Titus. Ever since she met him, he was all she could think about now a days. She hated to admit but Blyth knew she started to develop feelings for him, but those same exact feelings she was scared of. Whole Blyth was debating her feelings mentally the screen of her phone lit up with a message from Kare, asking if she wanted to meet up by the lake. Of course Blyth agree to the little get together. At least she’d have a distraction from her emotional conflict, and she enjoyed spending time with her best friend. Blyth swung her feet off the bed and stumbled to her closet to find something to wear for the day.  “Hey” Kare greeted as Blyth stepped into her car. “Hi” Blyth returned the greeting as she fastened the seat belt. “It’s been forever since we hung out, it feels like we haven’t hung out in ages” Blyth stared at her friend before stating “First we hung out last week and second you seen me Friday at school and third you’r the one mysteriously to busy to hang.” “Well you know I’m a busy girl.” Kare awkwardly scratched the back of her neck. “Sure” was all Blyth said as Kare started the car and drove down the road. “Okay so what’s been up with you?” Kare ask her eyes focusing on the road. “A lot and I’m not sure what it is” Blyth said uncertain. “What do you mean by that” Kare took her eyes off the road to glance at Blyth to try and read her expression. “Drew and Brittany have left me aalone for over a week” “That’s good right?”  “Yeah but I’m scared they’re gonna do something ten times worse.” “Or maybe they decided to actually do something with their live instead of being jackasses.” The girls shared a look then engaged in a gut wrenching laugh, tears falling from their eyes. “You’re too much”Blyth said still laughing. “I know, that’s why you love me” Kare said making the turn on an old dirt road that lead up to the lake. Blyth sighed and laid her window staring at the passing scenery. She loved spending time with Kare, when ever they were together all the did was laugh.  “So anything you wanna tell me?” Kare asked. “Why would I?” Blyth asked back. “You have that look on your face, the one where you have something you wanna get off your chest” Kare said. “Oh and before you say anything I know when your lying remember that” She added. Blyth sighed and looked over to where her friend was sitting. “Well there’s this guy-“ Blyth started. “Oh my god a guy, is he cute, does he go to our school, where’d you meet?“ Kare bombarded her with questions. “If you let me I’d tell you” Blyth said. “We’ve kinda been hanging I mean I bumped into him once and we hung out. He’s nice and I don’t know I feel a connection to him and sharks when we touch, it’s stupid we only know him a few days” Blyth stopped when Kare parked the car near the lake.  The two girls got out the car and grabbed the picnic bracket from the back. It was a beautiful spring day, the  sun was shinning down not a blazing heat just enough to warm you up, the lake reflected the light making it seem like there were thousands of diamonds in the water, and the you could hear the animals and wind blowing  making a natural lullaby. Kare took out a blanket and laid it down on a nice grassy spot near the water. “I don’t really understand why you sound like this is a bad thing? You like him and you feel a connection that’s good.” Kare said starring at her friend. “Mean it is but I don’t really know how I feel, I mean I think I like him, I feel safe with him like I can tell him anything and at the same time that scares me” Blyth said sitting beside Kare on the blanket. “You know in order to have a relationship you have to be willing to give the other person a chance, even if it’s scary” Kare said. “But I don’t wanna hurt him or I’m too broken to be fixed or him to wake up and realize I’m not what he wants I don’t wanna be vulnerable and get my heart broken. ” Blyth said running her hand over the grass. “Does he wanna get closer to you?” Kare questioned. “Yeah I think so”  “Then give him a chance you only live once, so live you life don’t be scared to get your heart broken, at least it still works if you can break it” Kare said with a sincere smile. “I guess your right” Blyth said. They sat quietly, looking out onto the water a soft breeze blowing creating a calm surrounding. “So you gonna tell me your mystery man’s name?” Kare asked gently nudging Blyth on the shoulder. “Do i know him?” She added.  “Yeah, everyone in town know him” Blyth said quietly. “Who is he? Wait let me guess Josh Dylan the football player” “No” “Noah Oliver the class president?” “No” “Then who?” “Um Titus.....Grey”  “Wait Blyth that’s not funny he’s dangerous!” Kare raised her voice. “I’m serious and he’s not that dangerous, he’s sweet to me at least” Blyth said. “No Blyth he’s not someone to get involved with”  “How would you even know you never met him” “I don’t care I know what i hear, I want you to stay away from him” “Your the one who just told me to give him a chance know you don’t want me seeing him what the f**k!” “That’s when I didn’t know who you were talking about he’s dangerous Blyth” “You don’t know him like I do” “Oh you spend two days with him now you know the real Titus Grey yeah ok”  Blyth had enough of the conversation, she got up and stormed away from her friend. She walked to where she got the best cell phone service and dialed an Uber. As she waited she could see Kare’s car drove down the dirt road, leaving her alone.
