I don't know what to say. He is just standing before me like this is normal to him. I didn't even give him my name, never mind my address. How did he find me? I stare at him without saying a word. I am kind of scared to say anything. I have so many questions. "I told you i'd find you," he says with a smirk on his face. My wolf whimpers at the sight of our mate. I don't understand her. How could she be so crazy over a wolf she knows nothing about. I thought we were stronger than that. "H-How," I stutter. It is hard to talk when all these concerns and questions are piling up inside your head. "Are you a stalker?" I ask.
My mates face drops and he gives me a confused look. "Aren't you happy to see me?" he questions. I shrug. "Not really," I lie. My wolf is becoming increasingly frustrated with me. I am good at disguising my emotions. That is something I have taught myself. "Why do you dislike me so much?" he asks. I can see the pain in his eyes. That makes me hurt. I didn't mean to upset him. "I'm sorry. But you can't blame me. I haven't even told you my name and you found me house. That is very creepy and concerning," I explain. He takes a deep breath. "I understand. I'm sorry too. But you will soon learn that my life is not normal. I can't do things the traditional way," he explains.
I roll my eyes. "Maybe we just aren't meant to be," I say with pain in my chest. He growls and his eyes turn black. I jump back in fear and within seconds my mom is by my side ready to protect me. "Who are you, state your name and your business!" she shouts at my mate. My mam is feisty and will do anything to protect me and my brother. My mate steps back confused. It takes my brother a couple more seconds to join the action at the door. "Whats going on, who is this?" he questions. "Trey Hoston of the Harib Pack, I am here to ask your daughter on a date," says my mate. I raise my eyebrows. Trey.
My mom looks at me then looks at Trey then back at me. "Is there something you want to tell me?" she asks me. I go red. "It's no big deal, please just go back to the kitchen. I can protect myself," I beg her. She takes a deep breath before walking away, dragging my brother behind her. "I don't trust this man," says my brother under his breath, but we all hear him say it. I face Trey again. I can feel my face burning. Every single encounter I had so far with my mate has been disastrous. Maybe it is a sign.
"I wasn't joking when I said I wanted to take you out on a date," says Trey. My heart skips a beat. A real date? I've never been on a real date before. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to see if this could work out. Maybe he is not as bad as he seems and I am just being skeptical because I have always felt negatively about mates. The man must have gone through a lot to find my address. As weird and creepy as that is, I am very impressed. It's like he works for the FBI. Who knows.
"I'll go on a date with you," I answer. I can see his body jerk in excitement. I can't help but smile at his reaction and he definitely notices because he mirrors my action. "You won't regret it!" he assures me. "I will collect you at six on the dot. Dress business casual, it wont be anything too fancy yet," he explains. I nod, trying to remember the details. "I'm glad you said yes. For some reason I thought asking you was going to be much harder than this. I thought I would have to try and convince you to come," he chuckles. I laugh. "Don't get used to it pal, take it one step at a time," I warn him. He smiles and nods. "Six o'clock, I'll see you then," he says.
"Six o'clock, dress business casual, got it," I confirm. He gives me one last smile before walking back to his car. I watch him as he drives away. It takes me mom two seconds to get from the kitchen to the front door when she hears it close. "Who was that and why was he asking you out on a date?" she asks me. She has both eyebrows raised and seems a little concerned. I take a deep breath and look at her hazel eyes. "Mom, don't freak out okay," I state. She rolls her eyes. "He is my mate," I break the news. My mom gasps and her hands lift up to her face. "You're mated to Trey Hoston?" she asks. I nod. "Yeah, that is what I just said. Do you know him?" I ask, confused.
My mam takes my hand and leads to upstairs to my fathers office. She calls my dad using the phone and sits me down across from my fathers desk. "Mom, you're freaking me out," I tell her. Why is everyone being s secretive and weird lately? Am I stuck in some sort of broken simulation. We sit in silence until my dad arrives. "This better be important, I had to leave my meeting for this," complains my father as he takes his seat behind his huge desk. There is a lot of important documents stacked up on his desk. It is evident that the work is beginning to build up and he is struggling to keep on top of it. He is under a lot of pressure. If only he let me help out a bit to ease the stress. But I'm not allowed, because I am a woman and that is not my job.
"Your daughter found her mate," begins my mam. My father raises his eyebrow and looks at me in surprise. "That's great. Who is the lucky man?" he asks me. "Trey Hoston," says my mam, not letting me answer the question. That name seems to ring a bell inside my fathers head. His reaction is not what I expect. He stands up quickly and hits his hands on his desk gently."The Trey Hoston?" he asks my mother. She shakes her head excitedly. I wave my hand in his face. "Hello, can someone please explain what the hell is going on?" I ask, growing more and more frustrated.
"Trey Hoston, the only son of Wesley and Petra Hoston. Alpha and Luna of the Harib Pack," says my dad with a proud smile on his face.
