Angela

Up in Heaven. In the Palace where the Angels resided. The Angel with white clothes was relaxing by the pool, still wearing all of her clothes. No one else was around her, she was just sitting on a chair and reading a book. The weather in Heaven was bright and warm, just the kind of weather she enjoyed. As she read the book, she was smiling to herself, occasionally even giggling. One of the other Angels walked up to her. "Angela," The Angel called out. "Yes?" Angela responded without even looking up. "I heard what happened yesterday," The Angel continued. The Angel was a tall man who was rather built. He had large feathery wings on his back which were folded. He wore white robes and had perfect blond hair. His eyes were deep blue, like the sea. Above his head, was a glowing Halo. He propped his hands onto his hips and continued talking to Angela, "You intentionally let a soul run away?" "I mean, he wanted to run away, kinda his problem, no?" She countered, not looking away from the book. "Besides, it's just one guy. Who cares?" "The Judges of the Dead have sent in their concerns," The Angel stated. Angela shrugged, "Gabriel, you're such a stuck-up, you know that? Doesn't really change the whole point of the Judges, does it? Just send them to either Hell or Heaven, how bad could it be?" Gabriel sighed, moving so that he stood in front of Angela, blocking the sunlight. She glanced up with a twinkle in her dark eyes. "You mind? It's hard to read." "Our job is to calm the rampant soul," Gabriel explained. "We do not incite ideas, we simply offer a warm hand to those who have passed on." Angela shrugged, hopping off the seat. She told him, "Gotta say, one thing I love about Heaven has to be the weather!" Gabriel smirked, folding his arms. "Why? Hell isn't good enough?" She waved him off behind her, book in her arms as she said back to him, "Yeah, Hell kinda sucks. It's always either too cold or too hot which makes it annoying to be there." "Have you not considered reincarnation?" Gabriel asked. "After becoming an Angel, that has been an option for you. "Reincarnation?" She asked Gabriel. "Why would I go back there?" She stopped in place and then turned around to speak with Gabriel. She asked him, "Say, Big man, when did you die? Like, what time period did you pass away? Murdered? Were you murdered?" "I fell in battle protecting my land against the pillagers," He told Angela. "A time far before you were born." "You've seen the world out there," Angela told him. "Compared to Heaven, why would you want to go back? Seriously, living kinda sucks." She lifted the book with a grin. "But the stories are getting better though." She leaned against a nearby pillar, flipping through the book. "Romance is so cute in these fun little stories. But sometimes, relationships just don't go that way, huh?" She tossed the book onto the chair that she had previously sat on. "I'm already done reading this book. Why don't you give it a try? Must be a whole other world compared to the one you lived in." Angela shot finger guns at Gabriel, telling him, "Great talk man, didn't particularly enjoy it, but you're doing great!" "Angela," He called. "I'm just gonna head to my room and chill, yeah?" She told him. "Angela," He called again. "We still have to speak." She let out a groan before turning around with slumped shoulders, asking, "What is it?" Gabriel sighed and picked the book up. He walked over to her, handed the book to her and said, "You have had a rather notorious track record for letting souls run away." "Really?" Angela raised an eyebrow. "Could have sworn it was only a few times." "If this continues, you might be stripped of your position as an Angel," He elaborated. "You would be a regular citizen of Heaven, to be a Blessed." "Does that mean I can't abuse the snack bar anymore?" She asked. "No, you c- wait, were you the one who steals the food?" Gabriel asked with genuine concern. "What? Psh, no," Angela laughed lightly, punching Gabriel's chest softly. "Why would I do that for?" Gabriel let out a sigh. Angela took the book from his hands, telling him, "You know how many Blessed I can send down to Hell if I were to be sent down there?" "What?" Angela gestured to herself and said, "You know that racists get sent to Hell. You see, the Blessed like staying in their fancy mansions and living their lives of luxury, especially those old people from my little slice of time." She grinned at him. "Trust me when I say that I'm not gonna be cooped up in a house. I'll go trick or treating every Halloween. Every new year, I'll knock on every single door I can manage. On Thanksgiving, I will invite as many of them over as possible. I'm sure you get my drift." "And how will this send them to Hell?" "Gabriel, oh innocent Gabriel," Angela chuckled, patting his back. "You think there aren't any racists in Heaven? Any sexists? Who knows? Some might see a black girl knocking on their door and freak out! Think about the times, it wasn't too long ago, in fact. Who knows? One thoughtless sentence, one bad thought, BOOM! They're in Hell." Gabriel shook his head, walking away. "You can try sending me to Hell," Angela proposed. "Again. I won't be an unfamiliar face. Actually, I might enjoy it there this time around. But if you want to send me over, you gotta make an exchange with one of the Demons." Gabriel flinched. "That's right, you either get a violent, s*x-driven mess of a Demon," Angela explained. "Or you get the Fallen Angel back. And I know you bunch hate him waaaaaaay more than you hate me." Gabriel walked away, saying, "Watch your tone, Demon." "Angel now, unfortunately," Angela laughed. She watched as Gabriel walked off. She sat back on the chair, feeling the sun on her face. She was still wearing her long-sleeved shirt and long pants. She did take her shoes off though. She continued reading the book without a care in the world. She then noticed some of the Angels leaving Heaven to collect more souls. Angela thought about it. She tapped her chin before covering her mouth, grinning widely. She set the book aside before putting her shoes on. She muttered to herself, "Oh honey... I'm gonna see you~"
