Chapter 8

Chalk roared, "You all are doomed today!" As Chalk seethed with rage, Xavier's figure disappeared from sight. Realizing that he couldn't identify Xavier's location in time, Chalk's heart sank. He cursed internally and quickly lifted both arms to protect his face and cheeks, simultaneously tensing every muscle in his body. "Thud, thud, thud," Chalk's body endured several consecutive punches in an extremely short span. It was only then that everyone could see clearly. Xavier had moved at an incredibly fast pace around Chalk, delivering punches continuously to his upper body. Waves of surprised gasps echoed through the crowd. One needed to achieve a speed exceeding 32 feet per second to create a visual deception for human eyes, resulting in an "afterimage". A speed of approximately 65 feet per second was required to deceive a normal human visually and "disappear" from its original position. In reality, even a world sprint champion could only achieve a sprinting speed of 32 feet per second... Chalk's body had exceptional resilience against blows, and his combat skills were impressive. Yet, he never anticipated Xavier's incredible speed. Even if someone had a firearm in hand, they still wouldn't be able to aim and shoot at Xavier because they couldn't see his figure clearly. Confined to passive defense, Chalk could feel the howling wind generated by Xavier's blows and the icy breath of impending death. Refusing to accept death, a fierce glare appeared in Chalk's eyes. He gave up dodging Xavier's attack and swiftly gathered strength in both hands. Xavier's fists fiercely struck Chalk's left and right shoulders the next second, causing Chalk's body to violently shake. Xavier's speed was akin to a car driven at a high speed. It would only increase if unhindered. However, when a speeding car hit an obstacle, its speed would decrease under the same power output. As Xavier's fists made contact with a physical object, his speed slowed down. In this brief moment of Xavier's deceleration, Chalk suddenly unleashed his full strength. Ignoring the intense pain of his torn shoulder, Chalk swiftly flipped his palms and firmly gripped Xavier's arms. With his legs poised like tightly wound springs at their limit, he launched a barrage of continuous, violent kicks at Xavier. Within a split second, Chalk had launched seven or eight kicks at Xavier. Those kicks, whistling through the air, matched Xavier's phantom-like attacks in speed! Xavier's arms were tightly held by Chalk, leaving him seemingly nowhere to escape. Xavier's arms were tightly held by Chalk, leaving him seemingly nowhere to escape. Faced with Chalk's attack, Xavier dodged upwards. Xavier leaped high, positioning himself above Chalk's head. Chalk's furious flying kicks failed to harm Xavier, instead, caused himself to lose balance and fall with a 'thud' to the ground. Yet Chalk's powerful punches, swift kicks, frightening speed, and intense explosive force still left the spectators dazzled. Yet, by this point, most people could see that Chalk's strength was far behind Xavier's. 'Barring any unexpected turn of events, Chalk is as good as dead!' Chalk angrily bellowed, thrusting his back against the ground to push himself airborne, his knee crashing towards Xavier's head. Xavier, who was in an upside-down position, smirked briefly. Exerting strength with both of his arms, he forcefully broke free from Chalk's grasp. Losing his momentum mid-air, Chalk spun twice before landing on the ground. Thousands watched the intense fight with their fists clenched and their eyes fixed unwaveringly on Xavier and Chalk. Amidst the crowd, Mr. Hayes sneered, "Looks like Chalk's bound to lose." Titan calmly responded, " It's not set in stone yet. If Chalk were this weak, he'd be dead long ago. He would never live to become kingpin Block F kingpin!" Mr. Hayes frowned, finding Titan's words somewhat reasonable. After all, despite Chalk's predicament, he hadn't suffered any fatal injuries. It wasn't that Xavier had shown mercy to Chalk. Rather, it was Chalk's own formidable strength that spared him from serious harm. Even the double punches Xavier landed on Chalk's shoulder seemed to have inflicted no damage. Chalk turned around, snatched a steel knife from his henchman's hand, and glared fiercely at Xavier. Chalk said coldly to Xavier, "Kid, I'll give you one last chance to surrender. Or you won't have time to regret it when I s***h you to death later." Xavier smiled faintly and beckoned contemptuously at Chalk. Chalk roared and charged at Xavier with his knife. With a sharp whistling sound, Chalk swung the steel knife toward Xavier. Then, the knife flew out of Chalk's hand, hurtling towards Xavier. Chalk and Xavier were just 15 feet apart. At this proximity, Xavier had less than half a second to dodge the knife, like dodging a bullet. Despite that, Xavier still managed to evade the knife, leaving only a shallow cut on his arm. In the next second, Xavier and Chalk slammed into each other heavily. This time, neither of them threw punches, but they engaged in a raw physical collision using their shoulders. Chalk was pushed back more than seven steps from the impact, while Xavier only retreated three steps. Xavier hadn't even regained his footing when he heard cries of alarm. Behind him, the steel knife spun through the air, then returned like a boomerang. The glinting blade was less than 10 feet from the back of Xavier's head! Although Xavier couldn't see the knife coming back from behind, his body's reaction was astonishing. He sharply leaned to the right as if he had stumbled. The spinning steel knife swept over Xavier from above and flew back into Chalk's hand. Holding the knife grimly, Chalk took advantage of Xavier's still-down state and swung the knife at him. Despite being unable to get up in time, Xavier remained calm and showed no retreat or fear in his eyes. In the face of danger, Xavier chose to resolve the situation by charging toward Chalk. In the blink of an eye, Xavier closed the distance and was standing before Chalk. With only 1.5 feet between them, the distance was too short for Chalk to effectively injure Xavier with his steel knife. Xavier, devoid of expression, raised his hand and landed a punch under Chalk's armpit. "Clack!" Chalk's shoulder bone cracked, and the pain caused him to scream in agony. Xavier unleashed a flurry of punches, violently hitting Chalk's chest, ribs, and neck in succession. Despite Chalk's strong resilience, the sound of bones cracking echoed throughout his body. Finally, Xavier raised both fists and smashed them vigorously on either side of Chalk's head. Chalk's face turned purple-red as he staggered in place, resembling someone intoxicated. Soon after, blood gushed from his eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. Mr. Hayes sighed softly and said, "The verdict is in. Chalk is dead..." Sure enough, Chalk collapsed to the ground with a thud, his dying body twitching slightly as more blood flowed out. The prisoners and guards around fell into a solemn silence. Everyone had expected a major battle between Xavier and Chalk, anticipating that even if Xavier emerged victorious, he would likely be seriously injured as well. Unexpectedly, Xavier had beaten Chalk to death in just two short minutes. After the match ended, Xavier gave the impression that he hadn't exerted his full strength. Xavier calmly found a glass of water, cleaning the bloodstains from his hands. Jaguar stood behind Xavier, squinting as he slowly scanned the crowd around him. Some inmates caught Jaguar's gaze and quickly lowered their heads, afraid to meet his eyes. People speculated on what fearsome plans he might have. Out of nowhere, Jaguar erupted with a frightening fighting spirit, roaring as he charged ahead. Panic swept through the entire cafeteria, and the crowd of spectators scrambled to retreat. Jaguar leaped up, clearing the table that blocked his path with unmatched momentum, and charged toward the southwest direction. The sturdy Titan, towering at six and a half feet tall, was standing in the southwest corner of the cafeteria. Sensing Jaguar's formidable aura, Titan's gaze sharpened. He gathered his entire strength, and his body towered like a mighty mountain, steady and dominant. Amidst a series of rapid footsteps, Jaguar reached Titan. He leaped into the air with incredible force and delivered a brutal elbow strike aimed at Titan's head. That fierce elbow strike had nearly injured Xavier a few days ago... Titan dared not be careless. He roared loudly and swung his massive fist fiercely to meet Jaguar's deadly elbow strike without any unnecessary frills. "Thud!" With a dull thud, Titan's body sank and staggered backward. As for Jaguar, he just kept getting stronger as the fight ensued. Immediately after he landed, he launched a fierce high-leg kick aimed at Titan's waist. Despite Titan's sturdy appearance, his reaction speed was extremely fast. He raised his leg and met Jaguar's high-leg kick head-on. "Thud!" Jaguar leveraged on recoil to step back, grinning menacingly at Titan. Titan also staggered two steps back, glaring at Jaguar and shouting loudly, "Jaguar, you lunatic! What are you trying to do?" Following Titan's roar, his underlings stepped forward and surrounded Titan, alert and wary of Jaguar. Jaguar's gaze swept over them, sending shivers down their spine. Titan's men were quite loyal. Though most of them looked at Jaguar with fear in their eyes, most suppressed their fear bravely and stood firmly by Titan's side. Jaguar smirked, "I don't mean anything else. I just want to see if you're worthy of exerting the effort to kill you personally!" Titan glared at Jaguar, his voice low and serious, "Jaguar, I admit you're a good fighter. But I would advise you not to provoke me, or you'll be dead for sure!" Jaguar snorted with a laugh, and a bloodthirsty grin played at his lips. His slightly bloodshot eyes moved slowly, sending a chilling aura of intense murderous intent, instilling fear in each of Titan's underlings. Titan stepped forward fearlessly. "Jaguar, come at me with all you've got. Let's see who goes down first!" Jaguar chuckled, "Titan, I'll spare your life for now. We'll have a good fight another day. Today, I've come to challenge someone on behalf of my Bloodhawk." Titan glanced at Xavier, who was standing not far away. He took a deep breath, prepared to respond to the challenge. However, Jaguar called out gleefully to Duke, "Duke! On behalf of Hawk, I challenge you, the kingpin of Block D, to a hundred-man battle in three days!" Duke's face instantly paled upon hearing those words!
