No matter the realm it comes from, every living creature believes its species is the most intelligent and the strongest. And among every species, some individuals believe themselves to be the best out of everything and everyone else.
This is what Damiano believes to be. The best. The undefeated.
He believes himself to be above all the others.
The slap to reality he'll face tomorrow will leave a scar. Forever imprinted on his ego.
'Why wait until tomorrow? We could've killed him right there...' -Ali
'We will take care of him in front of his pack. Also, I will go there as a human. And I will defeat him as a human. It doesn't matter what he does or says. I don't want either of you to try to surface. Alright?'
'Why not?' -Rhea
'They have to think I am a human.'
'Why?' -Ali
'Just because the Alpha is a lost cause doesn't mean the rest of the pack is. They might be worth saving. And I can't do that if they are scared of me. '
'Fine... You love to take our fun away.' -Rhea
'Not at all, darling. Wouldn't it be more satisfying to see the look on his face upon realizing a mere human defeated him? The ones he belittles so much...'
None of us enjoys others' pain, but we all love to punish those who do wrong and show them their place. Rhea and I like to be a bit more physical about it, but Ali, not so much...
"I will never understand you two. What's the fun in having blood all over you if you don't eat it? You can easily cast a spell on him and keep the shoes clean." -Ali.
"Let's sleep, girls. Tomorrow will be a long day."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The Sun God let its rays shine upon my closed eyes to awaken me.
It is already 8 am. One hour left.
Looking at the sky, I thank the Sun God for pulling me out of my slumber. He answers by making his rays spark for a moment and goes back to illuminate the earth in its usual glorious way.
'It's almost time! I can't wait to see him beg for his life...' -Rhea
'I will not kill him, Rhea. He works for my father. Tartar will not punish him. Death would be an easy way out. I have bigger and better plans for him.'
'What plans?' -Rhea
'You'll see...'
'Ahh! The suspense... my favorite!' -Ali
Upon entering his territory, I am greeted by two werewolves.
They lead me further into the forest to a place arranged like a battle arena. The werewolves of this pack had formed a circle, and I am led inside it, where Damiano awaits me.
"Welcome, pack s**t!"
"What did you call me?"
Is he seriously so self-absorbed and ill-mannered?
"You don't have to worry about today's events. Out of the goodness of my heart, I have decided not to kill you. From today onwards, you will become the pack s**t. You better make my boys happy. Otherways, I'm gonna punish you... hard!"
Looking at all that smugness displayed on his face, I cannot help but let a little chuckle escape my lips.
Oh.... the way I am going to enjoy this.
'I will enjoy seeing him all beaten and b****y!' -Rhea
My girl is already starting to lose her control...
"What are you laughing at, human? I will be the first to have you. And I can't wait to hear you beg for mercy!"
From the aura he emits, it seems that he's the Beta.
I will definitely need a new one.
"And I will enjoy disposing you of your Beta position. But you will have to await your turn. First, I have to deal with your Alpha. Let us abstain from profanities and useless exchanges. You are making it look as if you were trying to delay the fight. Are you so afraid of the outcome?"
The Alpha growls and runs to me, trying to punch me in the face, but I easily dodge it and give him a kick in the abdomen, sending him flying into a tree. He gets up and tries to grab my hair, but I'm faster. I grabbed his arm and broke it. His human form is weak.
He shifts into his wolf form and tries to bite me, but I dodge and jump on him. Using my weight, I put pressure on his neck, cutting his oxygen supply. He still tries to bite me. But he can't escape my hold.
At this point, I am just waiting for him to admit he's been defeated and submit to me. This fight was over as soon as it began, and I didn't use my vampire or wolf powers.
Despite the fact that I am hiding my identity, a human could have defeated him effortlessly. What was all that talk about?
For a werewolf, he is beyond average. For an Alpha... he is disappointing.
Everyone's eyes are on me, and I can feel their confusion.
Some are in denial... some are relieved... and some are hopeful.
The only one that emanates any anger is the Beta.
Such mixed emotions from everyone, yet only a few on Damiano's side...
It makes me wonder what kind of Alpha he's been to his pack.
"I do not plan on killing you either. So, if you are done, please shift back to your human form and receive your punishment accordingly. Attempting to prolong an already-ended battle is humiliating. Your pride is almost extinct... preserve the little you have left."
He still tries to fight back, but my grip on him isn't wavering.
Having no choice in order to breathe, he eventually retakes his human form.
"How are you so strong? You're not a human... You can't be!"
I might not be a human, but I defeated you by relying on a human's strength...
I still cannot believe there's an Alpha werewolf so weak.
"Damiano, you will spend the following days in the dungeons until I decide otherwise. I hope you will enjoy your stay, and worry not, I will visit you soon. Someone get him in the dungeons."
I could feel the hesitation. None dared get close to Damiano at first, but he is no longer their Alpha.
Two werewolves gather their courage and take Damiano away.
He still tries to fight and order them to stop, but his command isn't affecting them anymore.
Damiano is, as of now, nothing more than a rogue.
I ignore all the stares thrown in my direction and call for everyone inside.
I found it strange that the Beta has remained silent this entire time, but once inside the packhouse, he found his voice again...
"This is bullshit! I'm not gonna accept you as my Alpha!"
"I'm afraid you don't have a say in this. Unless you wish to challenge me, of course. Or you can always join your former Alpha in the dungeon as a rogue. I will not force an outcome on you. The choice is all yours."
He growls but closes his mouth nonetheless.
I am still unsure of what I should do with him, but he is not a priority, so it can wait.
I turn my attention to the crowd and officially introduce myself.
On the battlefield, there were only men present. Now that all women and children are here, I realize how big this pack is.
"Greetings, everyone! My name is Luna. As of right now, I am your Alpha. There will be some significant changes around here. The first one is the replacement of the second and third in command. I will be going to the office, and I want every single one of you to follow, one by one, until I choose the right people.
"What rubbish is this? I'm the Beta of this pack!"
"You will keep the Beta position if you are worthy of it. Lead the way to the office, and we will see if you deserve your rank."
I can see his hesitation, but he cannot disobey an Alpha command.
He leads the way to the office, and upon entering, I am astonished.
The room is incredibly spacious, designed with a classic and modern mix.
It looks like history met modernity. It is beautiful.
I went to sit on the chair behind the desk and motioned for Trevor to do the same. He sits in the chair across my desk with his arms crossed, in a position that cannot be described.
He is such an arrogant and disrespectful being.
Much like Damiano...
If it weren't for the missing Alpha gene in Trevor, I could've mistaken them for being brothers.
Damiano took more time from my day than I initially wished to allow him, and I am running thin on patience...
"Stop acting like you were in a bar. Sit properly, and look me in the eyes!"
One of the advantages of being who I am is that I don't need to test someone to know their strengths and capabilities.
Or whether I could trust them or not.
I can tell if someone is fit for a position by looking into their eyes and analyzing their souls and hearts.
It will save me time in my search for a Bata and Gamma.
'He isn't good for this position. He's not even worthy of being in this pack. Or any for that matter!" -Rhea
Since we are a whole, whatever one of us sees or hears, so do the others.
"You can leave. You no longer hold the Beta position."
"What? You can't do that! You didn't even ask me anything!"
"I don't have to. I can dispose of your position, and I just did. Leave and tell the next person to enter."
He gets up and storms out of my office angrily, but not before letting a threatening growl. It almost made Rhea compromise our identity just so she could come out and rip his head off.
'He is not worth your anger, Rhea.'
'I know. But I can't help myself when someone disrespects us so blatantly...' -Rhea.
Another man enters the office and takes a sit. I analyze him, and he is not fit for the Beta or Gamma position either. I told him he could leave and to send the others in.
Other wolves came into the office, but none were worthy of either position.
'This is getting frustrating... is there no one capable in this pack?'
'There has to be. Have patience, my dear...' -Ali
'How much patience can a girl have?'
'You're not just a girl, Luna. You are a Goddess.' -Ali
My thoughts are interrupted when a man in his early 20s enters the office. The man is tall and has dirty blonde hair with ocean blue eyes.
He looks exquisite...
"Have a seat."
He does as I say. He's the first not to have arguments or give me disgusted looks.
He is hot and has manners... what a perfect combination.
'It's him. He's our third in command!' -Ali.
The waiting and frustration were definitely worth it.
