Chapter Two - Best friends

1358 Words
Callie’s P.O.V “Callie, would you hurry up woman?” Asher called from the living room I was finishing off getting ready for our night out which I was looking forward to and he needs it especially with his b***h of a wife. He deserves so much more than her. He is a good guy and she treats him like crap. The fact that she accuses him of cheating with me of all people is comical. He isn't a cheat and two...nothing has ever happened between him and me. I mean nothing, we have not even as much as kissed so that is why I find her actuation hilarious. “I am nearly ready, can you come and help me with this dress? Can’t get the damn zip myself.” I called back. I heard him let out a small chuckle before making his way through.  “I don’t get why you always buy dresses you can’t even zip yourself.” He laughed “Cause they are always the ones I like. Now shut up and get the zipper already will you?” I giggled He came up behind me, pulling the zipper of my red dress up for me, making me shiver. “You could have at least heated yours hand up Ash.” I groaned feeling his cold hand against the skin of my back. He laughed in my ear, clearly doing that on purpose.  “You are lucky I love you,” I said turning to face him, placing my hand on my hip, glaring at him. He smirked, winking at me. He knows I can never stay mad at him especially with those damn puppy dog eyes he uses against me if he has done something he shouldn’t. I stuck my tongue out at him before turning back to the mirror, putting my favourite red lipstick on and smacking my lips together, giving myself the once over.  “How do I look?” I asked twirling “Hot as always. Now can we go please before they think we aren't coming?” He said.  “Don’t get your panties in a twist...call the cab,” I said batting my lashes at him.  He nodded heading off to call the cab as I made sure I had everything I needed. We were meeting a group of friends at Diamond bar before hitting the nightclub. We try to do this at least once a month cause we don’t see each other much these days all of us together between work....relationships and a couple of our friends have kids too. It is not as easy to get together the way it was when we were twenty-one. I headed through to find him waiting impatiently for me at the front door tapping his watch.  “Go f**k yourself, Ash.” I laughed flipping him off “What would be the fun in that?” He chuckled He is lucky I love his sarcastic ass but then again I am as bad as him, think that’s why we got in great. “Let’s go asshole.” I laughed slapping the back of his head In return, he gave my ass a quick slap. All innocent, nothing s****l about it before dirty minds start going into overdrive. “What was that for?” I pouted.  “It was right in front of me...couldn’t help myself.” He laughed.  I grabbed his arm, pulling him out of my apartment and locking the door behind us before we headed out to the waiting cab. As we chatted on the ride his phone started ringing. He told me he was keeping it off for the night. He knew exactly who it was, Kate. I hear him sigh before he answered the phone.  “Hey, babe.” He said faking a smile And then I heard her on the other side starting again...she was shouting at him again.  “Don’t f*****g babe me Asher. Why the f**k have you been ignoring me? Your screwing that skank is that it.” I heard her say.  This woman seriously needs to find new things to say. All this same s**t is getting old and annoying. I see his jaw clench. He hates when she talks that way about me that is why she does it. “Kate I told you, stopping f*****g talking about Callie like that. No, I am not f*****g her, it’s about time you stop accusing me of that. I put my phone off for this reason exactly cause all you wanna do is argue and I am sick of it. I will be home tomorrow hopefully by then you will be in a better mood. I love you goodbye.” He said hanging up running his hands through his hair and switching his phone off again.  Even when she is screaming and shouting at him He always still tells her he loves her that is the kind of guy he is. As I said he deserves better but he loves her at the end of the day. I reached over, placing my hand on his knee, making him calm down and turn to face me, managing a small smile.  “You alright Ash?” I asked “Not really. I don’t even know why she is being this way. She never used to be but for tonight I am not gonna worry about that and have a good night.” he said.  “Yes, time to have fun with your favourite person in the entire world,” I said showing him my best dorkish smile that always made him better.  “Who told you that?” He laughed “Hey!” I said tutting, folding my arms over my chest and turning away from him.  He was quick to wrap his arm around my shoulder, pulling me into him and kissing the top of my head.  “Come on Bambi you know I am only messing with you.” He said.  Bambi his nickname for me...something to do with my eyes or something like that. I never really understood it but he had called me it since we were ten years old and I liked it. I giggled, nodding my head before resting it on his shoulder as a silence filled the cab. We soon pulled up, Asher paying the driver before giving me a handout, wrapping his arm around my waist, the way he always does to keep me close, stop him from losing me. “About time.” Our friend Mindy laughed “Blame her, you know what she is like.” Asher laughed pointing at me.  I shrugged, smiling innocently at them all but they knew what I was like. We all gave each other a quick hug before heading inside to the busy bar. It was always busy this place, always had a good night and a good laugh anytime we were here. All the staff and regular punters knew who we were by now. “First round on me...what is everyone having?” Asher asked We all gave him our orders before heading to find a table. Russ going with Asher to help with the drinks since there is eight of us all in. I was ready for this night out, been a stressful week so could wait to let lose this weekend. “Callie is Asher Ok? He seems a little off.” Mindy asked “He is cause of Kate. All she does is pick fights with him and accuse him of everything.” I said annoyed even at the thought of her I am just as protective as Ash as he is of me. We have been through a lot together. “I don’t know why he doesn’t divorce her. She is making him miserable.” Mindy said, sighing too “I am still shipping Casher.” She added giggling.  That was her poor attempt of a ship name of Asher and me. “That isn't ever gonna happen EVER, you should that by now.” I laughed, shaking my head All our friends were the same, always saying Asher and I should get together. Why I don’t know, we have not given them any reason to think that will have happened, we leave them to it. “What isn't ever gonna happen?” Asher asked sitting down next to me “Casher.” I giggled.  “Yeah, that isn't ever gonna happen. You all need to come to terms with that...sorry to disappoint.” Asher chuckled, handing drinks out.  It got dropped after that. You would think by now after all these years or being friends with us they can see Asher and I are never gonna happen.
