Maya I put Axel in the partially full bathtub, holding him under the arms to prevent him from falling completely into the tub. I pulled up my nose and squinted to prevent tears from escaping me. I shouldn’t have cried. I wasn’t wrong. Maybe a little, but just to keep it from her. Jess had gone too far, didn’t even give me time to explain, to try to tell her how I felt. If she hadn’t caught us in the act, she wouldn’t have been so pissed. Maybe if I had had a chance to talk about it more calmly, to speak openly with my heart in my hand, she would have understood more and she would have accepted it. I rested on the edge of the tub and watched my baby having fun in the water, laughing happily with his toys. Axel was growing fast and he was very smart, but on the other hand, I was sad.
