Scarlet's P.O.V
And just like that I was clad in silk, lace, satin and all other types of material you could possibly think off.
I had what felt like a hundred, which was really three or four, people crowding round me, bringing me shoes and zipping up dresses.
Kylie just stood there, jutting his hip out, his hand in his hair.
He would nod and shake his head at certain things, I was flustered and made slightly uncomfortable by it all.
I never enjoyed being made a fuss over, but to be honest it never happened much.
In the end of it all I had three cocktail dresses, one white and lacy, another blue and sparkly and the last a little black dress.
I also had two floral day dresses and two beautiful evening gowns.
One was long and black, with a laced up back like you see on wedding dresses.
The other was of course red, gorgeous dark red, like blood.
It was fitted and had cap sleeves with a Greek neckline.
I ran my hands over feeling the cold silky material under my fingertips.
As I walked forward the dress dragged along behind me and I needed to lift it slightly if I had any hopes of walking properly.
"You look beautiful Lettie" gushed Kylie
"Really?" I simpered turning back and forth in front of the mirror.
"Definitely, you could easily woo even the devil Lucian himself in that dress" grinned Kylie
"You think?" I questioned
" anyway what’s his deal about, well life, he just seems so guarded" I looked at Kylie
"Ah well Lettie, that is the great mystery of Lucian Cullon, he is guarded, overly so and it may seem as though he is shutting you out but he has just had bad past experiences with trust" Kylie said frowning
"Yeah well, in my books there is no such thing as trust" I snapped
"Well never mind about that, but you know what they say two negatives make a positive" Kylie muttered
I just shook my head and turned around.
After another hour or so more shopping we decided a serious coffee break was in dire need.
We ended up in a little coffee shop just of the high street called "J'adorais"
" Coffee or Tea Lettie?" said Kylie as we stood in the queue.
"Well I'm one of those weird people that likes both but right now I think I need a coffee."
"Got it" smiled Kylie
We ordered our drinks and sat down near the window.
"So, you know about me being a 'fake' fiancée, right?" I asked
"Yep, Lucian only told two people, me and his business partner s***h best friend, his name is Chase" Kylie said with a slight anger in his voice
"You don't like this Chase guy?" I asked
Kylie sighed "Let’s just say he isn't what Lucian needs in a mate"
I nodded.
Kylie continued talking to me about what we had to next on the shopping front but I wasn't really interested in shopping talk as there was so much going on outside that distracted me.
It wasn't anything that was particularly amazing or awe inspiring, it was just people.
Just normal people walking past doing there day to day tasks, living their day to day lives.
And still it amazed me.
These people were all real, everything just seemed so real all of a sudden.
That fact that I was in Paris, me, Scarlet Hyde was sitting in a little coffee shop, drinking a cup of slightly to strong coffee, in Paris.
"I think I lost you Lettie" said Kylie snapping his fingers in front of my face.
"Oh sorry" I jerked looking over at him
"So, where are you from Lettie?" asked Kylie
"London " I smiled
"cool, what did you do for work?" asked Kylie
I suddenly choked on my coffee and spluttered going into hysteric fits of coughing.
Kylie lent over and patted my back.
I continued to cough and choke loudly and people began to stare at me.
It was another five minutes before I stopped and my breathing returned to normal.
"Sorry" I grimaced over at Kylie
"Not to worry" he said airily
"Should we get going then?" he smiled
"Sure" I said tipping me head back to finish of the last cold dregs of coffee in the bottom of my mug.
We headed back down the highstreets and into several more shops.
Kylie insisted we buy all sorts and in the end, I had more then ten new pairs of shoes, what felt like 20 whole day outfits and several other things including many purses and belts.
It made me very uncomfortable, having things bought for me, but in the end, I would give them back to Lucian so technically I was nearly borrowing them.
"Right Lettie, almost done, we just have one more stop to make before we head" smiled Kylie
"How can we need anything else!" I exclaimed
I felt like I had every item of clothing known to man packed into the bags slung over my shoulders.
"Ah, now what would a beautiful redhead, in a stunning red gown need?" asked Kylie
I just shrugged confused
"Rubies" Kylie flashed his white teeth at me
I shook my head violently
"Oh no, no way, there so expensive!" I said in a high-pitched voice, but it was no use, kylie dragged me into a large jewellery shop without another word.
"Ah, Kylie how wonderful to see you" said a voice as we walked through the door.
An old man stood there, white hair and tanned skin.
He was wearing a purple velvet suit and a green patterned silky waistcoat.
He wasn't fat, just a little plump as the buttons on his waistcoat seemed to be straining a little.
"Ah not bad, not bad at all" smiled Kylie
"And who is this beauty" the man turned to me with a comforting smile.
"This is my boss, Lucian Cullon's lovely fiancée" Kylie grinned
"Ah of course, such beauty, he has won himself a fine prize" said the old man with an airy whisper.
"I am not a prize to be won" I said abruptly frowning
"No, of course not" the man moved on swiftly realising he had offended me.
"What is your name?" he asked me softly
"Scarlet Hyde" I said slowly
"Oh it is just too perfect!" exclaimed the man
"Follow, follow" he said wandering of among the cabinets filled with jewels and glass counters.
Kylie and I followed suit.
We stopped in front of a large cabinet, it was just like the others but for one thing.
It had a several complicated locks all up and down the sides.
"One moment please" he smiled
He pulled a chain of from around his neck, it had about nine or ten keys hanging from it.
I stood there patiently as he began to undo all the locks.
Finally he finished, stood up right and swung open the cabinet door.
I gasped as the dazzling red of the jewels caught the light as the door opened.
There was a pair of earrings, a diamond in the middle surrounded in petals of rubies all around.
There was a bracelet, with rubies all around it, some hanging of some set tightly into the silver chain links.
But the most amazing, the most beautiful thing was the neckless.
It was a short chain, high necked sort of collar style.
It was covered in tiny diamonds and rubies and in the centre, was a huge, deep red ruby the size of a large cherry tomato.
"Beautiful" I muttered as I continued to stair.
The old man took the neckless carefully out of its case and held it in his hands.
"Beautiful is it not" he smiled
"It is called La ruby d'adore, or the lovers ruby, worth more than everything else in the shop combined" he smiled.
Kylie walked behind me and twisted up my hair into a knot.
"What?" I said but before I could say anymore the man had placed the neckless around my neck.
I gasped as the cold metal of the chain touched the skin on my neck, making the hairs down my back stand up on end.
Kylie and the man stood back and looked at me.
"Simply magnificent" said the man
"Totally fab" smiled Kylie
I just jerked my head still in shock.
"we'll take it!" smiled Kylie
"What no, it, expensive, I couldn't possibly" I stuttered
"I'll wrap it up for you know" said the man unclasping it from my neck and walking away.
"Relax Lettie, its nothing, and you are Lucian's fiancée after all, you must look like an angel, especially tonight"
"Tonight, what’s happening tonight?" I questioned
"Didn't Lucian tell you, it’s the bash to celebrate the new business relationship between the company Lucian wants to buy, and of course his own" Kylie said
"No, no he didn't tell me that" I fumed
"Yes well, as his fiancée you must walk around on his arm all evening looking stunning"
"but"
"No buts, you must do it whether you like it or not" Kylie cut me off.
I scowled
"Talking about the celebration that reminds me, we must get going, we need time to get you all ready to go!" Kylie said
Kylie and I collected the finale bags filled with jewellery and headed to the end of the high-street where the car picked us up.
It wasn't until we were in the car till Kylie spoke again
"We are going to get you ready at my friend Kitty's house, she is a make-up artist" he said
I just nodded
I had already realised that there was no point questioning, that things would run much more smoothly if I just did what I was told, something I was very use to.
We arrived at Kitty's house about half and hour later.
I climbed out the car and looked up at a rather large house, it was more like a wooden lodge than a house and had a great view out over the city of Paris, and the Eiffel Tower.
I t had large balconies at the front and I could just image sitting there on a warm summers evening watching the sunset.
"Common then" said Kylie as he walked over to the door and rang the doorbell twice.
It was only two seconds before the door opened
"Your two minutes late" said a quite deep South African voice.
"Its lovely to see you two" said Kylie
"Shut up and get inside" said the voice again
Kylie stepped inside and I followed after him.
As I stepped through I saw the face of a beautiful young woman, she had dark skin and think hair that was twisted into a side bun and the base of her neck.
She wore an orange and red coloured blouse-like dress that made her skin look amazing.
"Kylie go upstairs and sort out all these bags" ordered Kitty
"As for you my dear, you must come with me" she took my hand in hers and walked me through the house into a large parlour.
It had a large dressing table and cabinets filled with makeup and shelves staked with nail polish and lipstick.
She sat me down in the chair and instantly got to work
She pulled my hair up into a bun and tucked the loose bits behind my ears.
"Such a beautiful face, and your cheekbones, silly magnificent" she said
I blushed as she went over to the cabinet and sorted out her paint, I called it paint as I was now her canvas.
By the end of it all, the plucking and the applying, the brushing and the tweaking, a piece of artwork was created.
I smiled at the beauty I saw in the mirror before me.
"Amazing" said Kylie as he walked back into the room
"Yes, thank you so much, it looks beautiful" I smiled graciously
"No problem, the beauty was there all along, I only embellished it slightly and made you notice it" she smiled.
"Right, let’s get you dresses" Kylie said pulling me upstairs
"We only have half an hour before we need to meet Lucian at the venue, he is going to meet you inside" Kylie said
I nodded.
Less than twenty minutes later I was dressed up in the long deep red dress we had bought earlier, I had a pair of tall black heels on and of course the ruby jewellery.
We hurried down back through the house, said a quick goodbye to Kitty and headed outside into the car that was waiting for us.
As the car drove away from the house Kylie spoke to me
"Now Lettie it’s only a short drive so let’s get down to business, you will meet Lucian inside as I told you earlier, it’s just a few drinks and a bit of small talk so you should be fine. Just stand beside Lucian and nod a lot, that’s what I usually do anyway" Kylie said
"Okay, fine" I nodded
A few minutes later we pulled up outside a very modern looking Hotel called "Ange Sommeil"
"Right Lettie, out you get" said Kylie
"you’re not coming with me?" I asked
"No, no this is far to formal for a guy like me, you will be fine don't worry" he smiled.
I nodded slowly and took a deep breath
"I'll see you again?" I turned to Kylie as I got out the car
"No doubt about it" he smiled, he shut the door and the car drove away.
I took a deep breath, picked my dress up slightly sand headed up the steps to the front door of the hotel.
The door man smiled at me as he opened the door, I grimaced back nervously as I was trying not to trip because my heels were so high.
I walked into the lobby which was full of people, I looked around scanning the crowd but I couldn't see him.
I walked forward into the crowd and weaved in and out of people.
Some stared at me, others took no notice.
I suddenly felt an arm wrap round my waist
I heard a soft growl in my ear
"That'll do English, that'll do"
