Chapter 3

"I didn't grant you permission to enter, what if I was naked?" Chris shot staring intently at Bethany's smoothened face. It was all his plan, of course, to block her at a corner and let her answer his questions. Since Chris had walked into his office that morning, he had checked the lady out, and nothing good was told about her nor herself, but her details matched the lady who had been his hero for ages during high school. "You didn't grant me permission, but you made an announcement for me to come here, what was that supposed to be?" Bethany shot out her voice dry and interrogative. As a law student, Bethany was learning medicine as a junior cause, she was aiming to be a nurse to help others, and although the two degrees will mean that she has to focus on one, she wished that the one in which made her the most valued, is what she might end up with. Chris didn't smile, not even a trace of guilt was on his face as he picked up a clean towel from a pile where it stood in a warm basin and walked over to the lady, handing it to her. "Get yourself dry, and don't you have any warm spare clothes you could change into? that would be nice," he said advising her. Bethany was in shock that the rude doctor was been nice to her, she would have opened up to him right now if she wasn't like the role she was impersonating now. "Oh wow! Do you care? that should be a bonus on the fact that you save lives, huh?" Bethany shut teasingly. He still didn't take that as disrespect, but his eyes net her cold ones, and the young lady knew that that gaze of his could freeze the Thames river if he had it as a focus. Well, not her, because she had in mind to deal with him for acting so rude to people. "I don't owe you an explanation, miss," Chris said gently. He was going to get the truth from Bethany Wales and if it was this kind of game he wanted to act, he was more than ready to face this will, and bridge it as well. Bethany wasn't going to stand there and take all these insults from the young man, she was so damn angry, and she said it might be cocky not believing in herself, despite what is going on, she had her own pride, and she can go as far as being stubborn if that is what it takes him to be someone the man would never forget. "I see! I don't have to be here as well," Bethany shot out turning her back to leave. Chris held her wrist and twirled her around to face him. "You stop right there," Chris said. "Why?" the young woman questioned her eyes burning deep down in hers. There was a pause, his eyes burned deeply into hers, and as if that was not enough, he went ahead to explain. "Why? because I am the boas around here, this is my territory," Chris said his gaze burning through hers. This was the highest peak of bluntness in a person that Bethany has ever faced, her enter figure was heated up with unfailing anger, she was red, and Chris doubted if it was something he was supposed to be worried about. Lifting her index finger and pointing it directly at his chest, she poked him with that little finger of hers. "You aren't even arrogant, Mr. Morgan, but you are blunt, it seems like you get a dose of disrespect not only for breakfast but also for lunch, and then supper," she said her breath raging as she started to have an attack. Bethany was asthmatic, whenever she had to force herself to talk too much, especially about hard things, it gets this bad and they are nothing she can do about it now. She raised her hand to her chest, Chris noticed how pale she was turning. "Are you... are you alright?" he asked as he closed the distance between them which was only inches, her breath coming out as if it was under high pressure. "I am fine," the young lady managed to say after two minutes of silence. She had closed her eyes through that period of time, it wasn't going to be something she could easily tackle, but if she was calm and wouldn't let this man's madness to get into her head, then, there are sure possibilities of her breathing this way. Just as she had started breathing abruptly, she made it through the young man's eyes and she saw a hint of doubts there. The atmosphere was so thick, he managed to succumb, but that wasn't for too long, especially depending on how accurate it might sound. Bethany shivered. Chris noticed it and kicked himself mentally for not doing the needful. The lady still had her cold dress on. Chris opened the towel in his hands and swirled it over Bethany's head, and her petite 5'4 meters just seemed perfect as compared to his. He was a very tall man, 6'2 was a great height and it seemed that Bethany was staring at him from a small box. "You would catch a cold if you don't get out of those warm clothes," he said gently, his tone soft for the first time. Bethany notched the worry in his voice, it was weird how that sounded, but he managed to make her see the reasons why him. Well, she was sorry to tell him that she didn't care that much. "I can do this, doctor," Bethany said in a teasing manner, making the young man seem provoked by his profession. "Chris," he shot. Bethany knew what he was talking about, but she knew acting around would grant her more rules than it was necessary. "Excuse me?" she demanded shivering for the second time. This time, she sneezed and good enough the towel was handy, thus, she used it in hiding her face with it. "You can call me Chris, by the way, you must be freaking cold," he said. "It is none of your business," she said rudely. ###Chapter 5 5 If one thing Christian Morgan disliked on earth the most is the fact that most people can be as disrespectful as they look. He was one of that group of people, but he could take the patience to endure if it were from this woman before him. He knew she was different, nothing could make her think any less now. Staring down at her, he suppressed the courage and let the words slip out of his mouth. "You, Miss arrogant, are not going to talk to your supervisor in that way, it is so demeaning, you know?" the young man said glaring at her faintly. That was a limitation, Bethany rolled her eyes and slighted it aside, it wasn't funny, and if this man was going to make a fool out of her, then, he was ready to put up things as well as he has plan them to be. "I will take my leave now, Mr. supervisor," the young lady shot, her nostrils flaring a little bit. There aren't several things that go about her being rude, she was literally pissed off that she bullied her best friend and was now a bully. What more could she ask for? she wondered faintly. That was it, she turned around to leave but wouldn't go because the young man held her faintly. "Not so fast, buddy," the young man said. "What?" the lady demanded being annoyed already. "Wait for a second," Chris let out as he released his grip from her hand. At that, Bethany was confused as he eyed the young man walk away from her in a smooth way. Chris made it to one of the cabinets, he removed some doctor blue pants and a blue t-shirt and brought them to her. "Here we go, you can change into this, it will make you comfortable while your clothes are drying, and keep you warm as well," the young man muttered out softly. There are a lot of things that might have changed with them growing up to be adults, but, even at that, things still are going to change, they will never be as they used to be, they both changed, and a lot of these things have caused them to do so, and more, no matter what is going on, he just brushed it away that way and that was so awkward. "Thank you," Bethany said gently. It was the first good word she had succeeded in saying in a whole while, it seemed like a lump had formed in her throat, and now, fighting to push it down might even bring a little contradiction to himself. "You are welcome," Chris said. No one said anything, Bethany's legs seemed rooted to the ground, it was so hard that talking about it was even the worse. Without another word, Bethany swirled on her heels, pushed the door open, and walked out of the room, she was walking, and then, it seemed like she was running, her heartbeat was increasing, there isn't much that goes along with her being there. Bethany held her breath warmly, it was aching, and the fact that she walked her legs shaking made it even tricky to accentuate such things. She made it up to the restroom at the hospital, changed her clothes, and then, moved to a warmer part of the building where a rack was built. It had stopped raining now, and the sun was overhead which was making the day a warm one. Bethany knew who Chris was, she was going to either work with him or run away like never before. It has never been this intimidating, she has to see the man every day, nothing even could beat that. Okay, she was going to be a lawyer, and graduate from a prestigious university back at home, but before that, she has to master her field of studies, it wasn't like she was going to act up like a pro or a nurse on the rescue, that was just a mild technique he was using to acquire some skills, nothing was as great as this right now. "Bethany?" the voice called out from behind and the young lady was jolted out of his thoughts. She turned around to see her cousin Austin, smiling down at her. He was on duty, he had a lab jacket on, and his face shone brightly, with several emotions sprawled across his face. He looked exhausted. "How is my favorite cousin doing?" the was question fell out of his mouth in a small dancing way. She flinched, then flashed him that sweet toothy smile that she was always ready to pull out. "I am feeling cold, Austin, I was drenched in rain this morning. I need a car," she concluded, fluttering out the words. Austin was two years older than her, he was that big brother he didn't have, and so far, she was grateful that it happened that way. She took deep breaths and released them gently, it was that controlling, but what more could she do when the slightest things only served in making her health condition deteriorate. "I have something to let you know, babe," he said smoothly. The young lady's face brightened as she scrounge up as if it could be this way. No matter what is going on, he just stressed her face for a while, it wasn't coming, he needed to tease her. "Shoot!" Bethany said warmly. She was been serious, and that is what adulthood is all about, being too serious than it is necessary. When she saw him smiling, she wondered what he had to share with her. "Hey! don't be a nerd, it is nothing to worry about, just want to take you out for lunch," he said warmly.
