It was surprising to him how his day could liven up in her presence after so long. “What’s it been?” Daniel asked without thinking.  He knows how long it had been, how long it hurt to force himself not to go check on her. She wasn’t there after all.  It took years.  Daniel swallowed. His eyes glanced downward from where he stood. His dark brown hair swayed as it always had against his cheek, shielding his eyes from where he looked.  He watched her body language shift from nervously walking beside him as he was with her to something different. It was something he hadn’t seen before, not in the hospital then or before. No matter how hard he tried, Daniel couldn’t put a name to it.  “You’re going to think I’m insane for this,” she muttered. “At least we’re outside and you could peel off
