CHAPTER 10: LOCKDOWN.

JAKE
We had gone straight Ally’s house and started packing after Council Leader Parker had dismissed the meeting. We wanted to get out of there before anything had time to change. Ally had brought us some food and went off to pack herself. She was excited about being home for the baby’s birth. Council Member Stark had agreed to leave quickly. In fact he agreed with me that it was probably for the best. I had called Shaun to check in and tell him of our return. He told me that everything was running smoothly at home. We had just thrown our bags in the car when alarms started going off. There were people running frantically towards the main house. There was a sense of panic. I stopped someone to ask what was going on and he told me that Council Leader Parker had been found at the edge of the woods. He had been rushed to the citadel hospital. Ally’s eyes misted over and we knew what she was about to say. “They need me at the hospital urgently. You go on ahead and I will follow with Timothy as soon as I can.” She said. I nodded and hurried Holly, mum and Tina into the car. I didn’t want to be here any longer.
We drove to the gate as quickly as we could. I was panicking, but trying not to show it. I had a horrible feelings that things were about to get worse. Council Leader Parker was the one who had ruled that we could go home. If he was taken out of the equation then Goddess only knows who would get to make that decision. We arrived at the gate and a guard approached the car. He leant down so that he could speak to us through the now open window “Sorry, but the citadel is on lockdown. No-one in or out." he said.” “We were given permission to leave by Council Leader Parker.” I explained. He shook his head “That was before he was attacked. I’m sorry, but you will need to return to the citadel until lockdown is lifted.” He replied. I sighed in frustration and turned the car around. This was exactly what I had been worried about. Holly put her hand on my knee “It’s ok, Ally is healing him as we speak. He will be fine and we can be on our way soon.” She said with a small smile. She was right, we just had to wait a little longer.
ALLY
I rushed over to the hospital to heal Council Leader Parker. I entered the room that he was being treated in and gasped in shock at the sight that met me. Council Member Parker was laying unconscious and covered in blood on the bed. His body was limp and pale. The doctor told me that his pulse was faint and fading. He had lost too much blood. I approached him and closed my eyes, reaching out with my mind to heal him with my ability. I was concentrating as hard as I could and could feel myself weakening from the effort. I felt a hand on my shoulder and knew that Timothy had arrived. With a final push I gave everything that I had. I opened my eyes expecting to see Council Leader awake and healed as had always happened when I had healed people in the past. I was surprised to see that he was still unconscious. The wound in his abdomen had healed up though. The doctor brought aa chair for me to drop into, explaining that because of the blood loss the Council Leader was still in critical condition. They were already getting blood back into him, it was just a matter of waiting.
Timothy waited for the doctor to give me a quick check over and then lifted me into his arms. He carried me home so that I could rest and recover in my own bed. He told me that he would mind link Jamie to come and sit with me once we got there. Having my mate close by would help me regain my strength quicker. As we arrived outside my house I was surprised to see Jake’s car still there. I had told them to leave without me. Timothy carried me inside and straight upstairs to my room. He got me comfortable and Holly came rushing into the room looking worried. “Ally, are you ok? What happened?” she asked. I gave her a weak smile unable to speak. Timothy filled her in. “What the f**k happened to Council Leader Parker?” Jake asked, having appeared behind her. “He was injected with an extremely high dose of wolfs bane and then stabbed with a silver blade. He was barely alive when he was found by a group of teenage werewolves heading into the woods. We won’t know much more until he wakes up. If he wakes up.” Timothy told us. I didn’t like the sound of that if. Jake asked who would be in charge of the Council while the Council Leader recovered. Timothy looked at him sadly. “All decisions would be made by majority vote until either Council Leader Parker was well enough to return to his position, or he died and a new Leader was chosen.” He said. Jake and Holly’s face fell. I knew why, most of the Council had thought that the baby should stay here, with or without them.
They asked if Council Leader parker’s ruling from earlier would still be upheld and Timothy admitted that he didn’t know. He told us that he would go and speak with the rest of the board. He left and I could feel myself drifting off. The exhaustion of healing Council Leader Parker was taking over me. I let my eyes close and sleep claimed me. I woke a few hours later feeling refreshed. My stomach rumbled loudly, I was so hungry. I made my way downstairs and grabbed some food from the kitchen. I had been surprised to find the house empty. I had expected Jamie to have been there as well as my brother and Holly. I ate my sandwich while sending Jake a text to find out where they were. The reply almost made me choke. “Your brother and his b***h are dead because of that abomination she was carrying.” It said. I felt my stomach turn and my heart felt like it was going to explode. Another text came through, it simply said “You’re next.” I stood quickly and lost my balance falling to the ground with a crash. I sat up on the floor next to my bed covered in sweat. It was dark outside now. The door crashed open and Jake came running in. “Pup, are you ok? We heard a bang.” He said helping me up from the floor. My heart began to slow down as I realised the truth. “I had a nightmare.” I explained.
