For the first half of the journey they took it in turns to row. And while one rowed and listened, the other one spoke. “Would you take a look at that?” said Alexander as he rowed towards a sky set on fire by the setting sun. Christian turned to look at the streaks of purple, pink, gold and orange that painted the heavens. “There’s wonder almost everywhere you look,” he said. As the sun drifted further over the horizon the painting changed to shades of blue, grey, and deeper purple. The aqua marine of the ocean turned to a navy blue, and then as the sun disappeared, an inky black. Christian was rowing.
