Color escaped Chloe’s face, her eyes wide, horrified as she stared at her sister. She didn’t need to know why she called. She must have seen them as they parted ways. Chloe opened her mouth, torn between asking how Cassie ended up on that side of the city and telling her she and Jude were over. But unable to speak, she pressed her lips tightly again.
“What did Nathan do to you to deserve this?” Cassie snarled.
“Wrong question, Cassie.” Chloe paused, her lips trembling in anger. Although she tried not to cry, tears rolled down her cheeks. “No matter how I explain it to you, you won’t understand?”
“Try me?” Cassie smirked. “Convince me, Jude’s just a friend.”
