Chapter 3: Admiration

Zhivka Who’s this annoying person who didn’t watch where he’s going? I thought with irritation. I was staring at the most beautiful green-caped girl I’d ever seen when someone bumped into me. And… guess who? It was our Beta, Zeith. He was two years older than me, well-built in his five feet and eleven inches height with black curly hair that reached his shoulders. His light brown with a hint of orange eyes regarded me coldly. “You watch where you’re going, Omega,” he warned me and smirked. I always liked him because he never bullied me. I thought he was always neutral. Well, it seemed. “You bumped into me,” he said, as though he wanted to pick a fight though. My eyes wandered to where the beautiful girl I saw and spotted her go with a throng of people. “You bumped into me,” I mildly retorted to our Beta. “You were watching someone. Or should I say ogling?” he teased. His eyes followed the direction of my gaze, but I knew he couldn’t say who it was I was staring at since she was gone now. “Normalni Khora is a small town. I think you can easily find whoever it was,” he added and left me without looking back. I followed him with my eyes. Ah, f*ck it! Why did he even give me an idea? I thought and found myself following where I last saw the beautiful girl go. Too bad, I could not separate her scent from these people. I could spot her right away since she was the only one who wore a cape in this kind of weather. Not that I was judging her, but I guessed she was special. I could already tell it just by looking at her earlier. “Sorry,” I said when I bumped into a pale girl with over made-up face, who gave me a nasty look. All right. Hostile much? I was barely aware of the stalls in the market. Anyway, I already saw them before. There were those stalls that sold sundresses, casual jeans and shirts, shorts, children’s clothes, shoes, kitchen stuff, some delicacies and many more others that I need not mention. They were basically things that were necessary for everyday living. However, there were pets sold, as well as some gadgets. Murmurs, birds chirping, people’s footsteps and other sounds were mixed together, which was a little annoying. Oh, there she is! I happily thought when I caught sight of her green cape. I followed her in a safe distance and sniffed her gentle oriental floral scent. It was actually unique. She was indeed different from all the girls I met before. I felt giddy for some reason, and my heart was beating faster than usual. It was something I had never experienced before. I asked myself why I was so excited to see a girl like me. Maybe because I saw her as perfect? She had an average height of about five feet and five inches, a few inches taller than I actually was. My petite form could be the reason why I was the weakest in the pack, if I’d think about it now. Despite the long-sleeved dress she wore, I could very well see her milky white skin. And I thought it was flawless, without a single freckle. How could that be possible? But still, it remained to be seen if I could see her closer. And I tried to by moving to the right. I could tell she didn’t notice me staring at her. She had this diamond-shaped face that was framed by her straight light brown hair that was past her waist. The strands were blown by the soft breeze and danced lightly when she moved her head. I dragged my eyes to take every detail of her face. Her small straight nose was charming, and her not-so-full coral lips looked soft and inviting like flower petals waiting to be touched and admired. It seemed that she was always ready to smile or otherwise. But I didn’t care. She was striking! I bumped into another person once again and stepped on to his foot to boot. This time, it was a stocky middle-aged man, who gave me a death stare. “Sorry,” I apologized readily and turned away, while he murmured a Bulgarian curse like “Da ti eba maikata!” which literally means “I will f*ck your mother!” Well, sorry for him. I had no mother he could f*ck. I did wonder if I had one and if she was still alive. But this was not the time to be sentimental. My parents could be anywhere in the world or in the afterlife. I wouldn’t know, and I didn’t want to know. They left me all alone in this world, so I shouldn’t think about them at all and just think about my life and what could possibly make me happy despite all the f*ck that I’ve been through. So now, I just glanced at the middle-aged man, trying to not glare. It was my turn to cuss. “Zaebi! (F*ck it!)” I just lost sight of the beautiful girl I was following. I sniffed the air as discreetly as I could to not look like a weirdo than I already was. Oh, not to mention a stalker. But they didn’t know that. I followed her scent. It was heading to the river. I wondered what she would do there. Maybe she wanted to join the party there. I heard there was one since it was a local holiday. Right, no wonder why there were a lot of people in the market today, unlike other days. Pondering where the beautiful green-caped girl went, I saw her walk along the river, almost gliding. Oh, Moon Goddess! She looked ethereal as she moved among the people there. She did look out of place because of her cape while the rest were in their bathing suits, but it didn’t turn me off. I even gawped at her even more. I climbed on one of the trees, sat on a large branch and leaned against the rough bark. I did notice some of the Lambdas were there, partying and flirting with humans. I grimaced at this as I thought of them banging the unsuspecting girls. They had no idea these guys were werewolves. Monsters. Bullies! I let out a sigh and just watched the caped girl. Some whistled as she passed by, but she didn’t mind them. She just went on, basking under the warm sun and the cool breeze. I guessed this was what having fun at the river felt like.
