Sage P.O.V.
I stood at the side of Leons desk while all four of us stared down at the map Grace pulled out to show us exactly where the Gemini Coven was located. Grace stood at the head of the desk, making Leon annoyed, while John stood by her side. I was standing at the side of the desk with Leon beside me and his hand on the small of my back. Which wasn't helping.
My head was still pounding despite the sparks that were shooting up my spine. I would tense up every time Grace would look at us because I didn't want her getting the wrong impression since, honestly, I still had no idea what we really were.
My brain was short circuiting, between the headache and the constant sparks, I could hardly keep up with the conversation at hand. I closed my heads and took a steady breath, trying to focus on the headache in hopes of relieving it in some kind of way. I need to start meditating more often again, I thought to myself.
I stayed like that for a few minutes, just focusing on my breathing, when my eyes shot open at the big hand that was rubbing itself up and down my spine. I trembled at the contact and heard Leon let out a low rumble from his chest.
"So what do you think about it, Sage?" Leon asked.
My eyes shot to him in an instant and I could feel my mouth opening and closing but no words were coming out. Leon smirked which made me want to punch him in his stupid sexy face. Seriously, why am I getting so easily irritated today? Must be the headache.
"Quit distracting the poor girl, Leon," Grace yelled at her son.
"What?" he feigned innocent shock. "I haven't been doing anything to her!"
"From the flushed look on her face, I beg to differ," she said, grabbing my hand and yanking me away from Leon.
My entire back immediately went cold and I frowned from the loss of contact. The sparks that had suddenly disappeared made my headache pound even worse so I sat down in the office chair. My fingers found their way to my temples and I started rubbing them profusely.
"Are you alright, hun?" Grace questioned.
"Yes, I'm fine. Just a headache," I replied honestly.
"There's some Tylenol in the top drawer," Leon advised.
Grace opened the drawer, pulling out the bottle of Extra Strength Tylenol and handed me two. At the same time, John pulled a bottle of water from the small refrigerator and handed it to me as well.
"Thank you," I told all of them before swallowing the pills.
"Now, getting back on track, what do you think about heading out tomorrow morning before breakfast? Around seven?" Grace asked me.
"That's fine with me," I nodded.
"Good. Then we'll get everything set. Son, make sure to let Travis know of our journey so he knows to be in charge of things while we are away."
We all looked to Leon, but he was staring at the wall with a faraway look in his eyes. Upon closer inspection, I noticed his eyes were glazed over and his handsome features were slowly turning into a scowl. Eventually, his eyes went back to normal and he put one hand in his jean pocket while the other covered his eyes. He let out a noise that sounded like a groan and growl mixed together.
"What's the matter?" John asked.
"The Eastern King is here with his wife and daughter," he said with distaste.
"What's he doing here without any notice of coming?" Grace asked with an irritated tone.
"Probably the same reason his daughter was here just the other day. Apparently, in her head, we're getting married," Leon sighed. "Mom, can you please take Sage to her room or to Farah?"
"What?!" I exclaimed. "Leon, I am not going anywhere."
"Yes, you are. I can't take the risk of them trying something. They're very sneaky people who look down on everybody, especially humans."
"Leon, I don't care. You're the one who said I would be safe as long as I was with you!"
"Sage-" Leon was cut off by a knock on the door.
By now, John had tucked the map away in the bottom of a nearby cabinet. Leon growled, giving me an annoyed look that I glared back into, and sat down at his chair while his mother stood by his right side, halfway shielding me from the room. John walked over and opened the door, revealing Travis and the other Royal family.
The first man that enters looks to be in his mid-to-late forties, he's extremely tall and muscular, but not like Leon. He has dark brown eyes and shoulder length chestnut hair with a thick beard to match. Arrogance and greed surround this man, from the fur coat he's wearing all the way down to the alligator dress shoes on his feet. Behind him is a woman with the same exact aura as him, arrogance but not so much greed.
Must run in the family.
The woman is tall and lean, with long strawberry blonde hair that falls to her lower back and dull green eyes. She has faint freckles covering her face and arms and is wearing a tight emerald green dress that reaches mid-thigh and shiny black stilettoes. And behind her walks in the star of the whole show.
Princess Sydoney.
I fight the urge to roll my eyes at her appearance. She walks in eyeing Leon with a smirk. Her light brown hair is up in a perfect ponytail, face caked with makeup and her eyelashes look like they're unbalanced. She's wearing a tight long sleeved purple shirt that doesn't even cover her stomach and a knee-length dark green skirt that reaches just below her knees. She stands there, unashamedly, f*****g Leon with her mud brown eyes and I have to hold myself back from literally growling at her.
Leon stands and holds his hand out towards the man," Alpha King Robert and Queen Luna Mari, it's a pleasure to see you again."
The man looks down at Leons hand and then back up at his face. He lets out a 'hmph' sound and then quickly sits down in the leather chair across the desk. His wife follows suit leaving the princess to stand behind her mothers chair.
Leon chuckles and shakes his head while sitting back down. John stands by the door and Travis is now standing at Leons left side. Leon runs his hands down his shirt, grinning and then pulls his chair up closer to his desk.
"So, what is the reason of your unexpected visit, if you don't mind me being so straightforward?" Leon asks.
"We just wanted to come by and see how things have been," the Queen talks first. Her eyes land on Grace and she gives a gentle smile. "Grace, how have you been?" The Queen stands up while Grace meets her halfway for a nice hug.
They both embrace each other before letting go and holding hands. The Queen looks her up and down before smiling wider.
"You look so much better than the last time I saw you, how have things been going for you," she asks Grace.
"I am doing well, usually staying to myself in a little cottage not too far from here. You know how the pack was basically in a depression these past few years, but when I got the sense of happiness and positivity running through the pack link a few days ago, I just had to come home to see what, or I should rather say 'who', was causing this," Grace replied with a genuine smile.
Leon gave me a side glance with a smile at his mothers words, causing me to blush red. I had to pull my head down to hide the smile that was teasing my lips. When I looked back up, I immediately locked eyes with Sydoney and she looked as if she was going to blow her top. Steam was basically coming out of her ears and I had to tear my gaze away to keep from laughing.
"Oh, I know the feeling of losing a mate all too well, Grace. After my dear Roderick passed, I became a hermit in my own room. Luckily, Robert found me just two years later and we..." they trailed off, going to sit on the couch to finish their own conversation.
"What is it you really came for?" Leon asked, staring straight into Roberts eyes.
They stared off at each other for quite some time before Robert finally blinked and sighed. Sydoney sat in the chair that was once occupied by her mother and crossed her arms, glaring at me.
"First, answer my question and then I'll answer yours," Robert said with a deep velvety voice. Leon nodded and moved his hand, urging the King to continue. "What is that human doing here?" He never spared me a glance and spat the word human with so much venom, I thought he'd choke on it.
"I was wondering the same thing," Sydoney sneered. "I figured she would've been gone after you were done with her the other day."
"She's here because I let her be," Leon shrugged, smirking back at me. I raised my eyebrow at him and he chuckled. "And because she is important to me."
I walked forward to now stand by his side, and bowed my head.
"It's nice to meet you, Alpha King Robert, my name is Sage," I said nicely.
He let out another 'hmph' sound and rolled his eyes. I had to hold my tongue for telling him how rude that was for Royalty to do but it's not really my place to do so.
"This is really no place for a human, wouldn't you think, young blood? A little degrading for a wolf pack if you ask me," he said insultingly, making his daughter smirk.
Leon sighed and sat back in his chair. "Robert, if this is all you came to do, then you're welcome to leave. I don't have time to waste on playing twenty questions with you, I have a pack to uphold and lead. If you're not going to answer my question, then our time here is done."
Robert smirked. "There's your other problem, Kings don't lead, they rule. If I had been passing you by on the streets, I would've just thought of you as any other pack member. You don't look, sound, or even dress like the King you are supposed to be."
"Which is the exact reason why the Full Moon Pack and Kingdom are the longest and largest running pack to date. Don't ever question my fathers teachings to me again. I don't rule over anybody, I lead them to be strong and stable. I may be the King, but everyone in this place gets treated with the same respect I receive. The title of Alpha and King may be the highest rank, but I'm just the same as any Omega on the inside. Now, I'll ask you one more time, what are you doing here?"
Leons eyes had turned just as dark as his voice. The women even stopped their private conversation to listen in, and I noticed John in the back with a smirk on his face. I looked over and Travis had the same smirk on his face. Robert growled lowly but eventually answered the question.
"I came here to discuss your little problem, being mateless. A proposal is in place for you and my daughter to marry and for the Kingdoms to merge. Since you are without a mate, I'm sure the council will have no problem with this decision I've made," Robert smirked with a mischievous glint in his evil eyes.
I locked eyes with Grace and noticed her pleading look. Biting my lip on quick thinking, I nodded to her, understanding what she was asking for.
"Oh, word must not have travelled that far yet," Grace exclaimed, pulling every bodies attention to herself. "My son has already chosen a mate."
"Who?!" Sydoney screamed, standing up in anger.
"That would be me," I said softly with a smile.
All eyes had turned to me now and I blushed from the heated looks. Leon stared at me as if he couldn't believe I was actually there, while Sydoney and her father looked like they wanted to rip my head off. Travis and John, however, had grateful looks on their faces. The room was quiet for a good while, making me a little uncomfortable.
Leon grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to his side, smiling at me lovingly. Staring into those beautiful hazel eyes, the whole room disappeared from my mind. I started to lean in to kiss him, until a knowing growl brought me back. I cleared my throat and blushed, refusing to make eye contact with Leon again. He chuckled and faced the father-daughter duo once again.
"How the hell can you accept a human to rule over wolves?! You think they would really accept her as well? Humans are weak, she is as weak as they come! What makes you think you could really do such a thing?" King Robert asked incredulously.
"I already have and so has my entire Kingdom," Leon stated in a bored tone. "And there's more to my mate than meets the eye, Robert. This 'weak as they come' human put down my second best warrior, anyone that meets her falls in love with her positive personality, and above all that, my mother accepts her." I swooned over the fact he had actually called me his mate making my cheeks blush pink.
"How did she put down one of your best warriors?" the Queen asked in amazement.
"Well, while I rule with an iron fist, she rules with an iron skillet," Leon chuckled, making me giggle as well.
"Yeah, real original," Sydoney sneered once again. "Like she hadn't just seen that stupid f*****g princess movie and wanted to do it herself!"
"Actually, I've never seen a movie in my entire life. I grew up secluded in the woods, raised by a lone wolf. I know how to defend and take care of myself if the time arises, and I also know how to treat everyone with dignity and respect, despite rank," I said confidently.
Nobody said a word after that, just stared at me as if I had grown a second head. Leon pulled me down in his lap and hugged me from behind. I had never done this before and I could feel his bulge under me, causing me to wiggle a little bit. I was stopped abruptly when Leon let out a low growl.
"I would stop doing that if I were you," he whispered huskily in my ear, making my whole face turn beet red.
"Well, I will be the first to congratulate you two, Leon," Queen Mari said, walking over to stand behind her husband. She gave us both a genuine smile, to which we thanked her for.
Robert and his daughter were both glaring at us and I had to stop myself from smiling smugly.
"I am hosting my Annual Mating Ceremony next month for my packs on the Eastern coast, why don't you both come along. It will be an easy and great way to introduce you to my people," King Robert said.
It was a nice offer, but there was something hiding in his eyes. I couldn't say exactly what it was, but he had that same mischievous glint in his eye from before. I narrowed my eyes trying to read him out. Of course, I thought Leon would quickly reject his suggestion, but I guess I was wrong.
"I think that would be nice. Email me the information and we will be sure to come," he gritted out.
