Chapter 8

1673 Words
Macy, Alexis, or by whatever name she goes, it's been weeks since I've seen her, and at this point, the engagement is officially off. Penelope asserts that she encounters her on a regular basis, but the only thing that may explain why I haven't seen her is if she is actively trying to avoid me. Well, that's very unfortunate for her, because I have every intention of locating her! The door's gentle pounding distracted me from my train of thought, and when I looked up, I saw Lisa's slow and curious head poke in through the opening. We have Mr. I will wait for your arrival so that he can speak with you, sir. This, she stated emphatically. "Invite him in," you say. As soon as I had finished breaking the news to her, she hurriedly left my office. I would like to speak with "Mr. Matthews." The tall, slender man smiled at me, and I returned his greeting with a smile of my own. Mason, it's great to have you back! "Feel free to address me as Will; that's what I like." It was he who said it. "Will you kindly have a seat?" "Eyes rolling," I said. Lisa served him coffee as soon as he took a seat, demonstrating that she was at least doing something useful. "Could you kindly assist me in locating Alexis Coleman?" I advised you to keep an eye on him when he was drinking his cup of coffee in the morning. "Is that all the information you're able to provide me about her background?" Mason paused to consider the answer to his inquiry while staring at his coffee cup, which was sitting on the table. Indeed, I recalled that she had been residing in Glendale in 2008 when you asked me about it! The question that was asked was, "Has anything happened in the last eight years?" Trust me when I say that if I had known, you wouldn't be sitting there right now. My goal was to gather additional information about Alexis; therefore, that was my objective. Is it true that you have confirmed that information? I thought that was supposed to be your responsibility. To look into it for me and find out additional information? I finally snapped after becoming irritated by his inane questions and smacked my table. Mr. Matthews, you need to take it easy. I will contact you at some point in the future. When he was speaking to me about it, his stare was unwavering. We'll start paying you once you start making contributions to the team. I send a stern caution to you. I don't think that's an unrealistic assumption at all. In response to this, he stood up from his chair and responded, "I'll get to work then." I will get in touch with you once I have more information. Penelope and I had a pleasant experience eating at a Chinese restaurant not far from here. They saw that she maintained an exceptionally low volume of speech. What are you up to, Penny? I inquired as a means of conveying my concern. She explained, "I don't know what it was, but seeing Brian made me feel a certain way, and then these feelings." "I don't know what it was, but seeing Brian made me feel a certain way." The inquiry was, "What kinds of feelings are these?" She shook her head and responded, "Not those emotions," in response to my raising of an eyebrow. She responded, which was really satisfying. It doesn't make any sense to me. If I had known that she wasn't very interested in getting married, I might have been able to convince Brian to go for her. But I'll make it through this. Tell me about your workday at the office, shall we? "There is someone who has everything in place to marry me." You have not only adopted their terminology but also their behaviour. Quit chatting! That one, Mack or Macy, is in charge of wedding planning. Just send me her phone number. Thank you very much. "Why?" It's for a really important event, and my mom needs it very badly. Having said that, I did present your mother with her card before the proposal. She was unable to recall where she had stashed it away for safekeeping. "Fine. Here's still another example: After searching through her luggage, she extracted a business card and handed it to me. "Thanks." Later on today, my mom and I will be flying to Paris, and we'll be spending a couple of weeks in France altogether, as Penelope declared. Therefore, why?" When she asked if I wanted to go to a couple of stores there, I thought to myself, "Why not go with my mom?" And so I said yes. ~~ "Mom?" As soon as I got home, I immediately called the number you gave me. "Mom!" Once more, I tried calling, but there was no answer. "What? Could you please explain? My mother shrieked a furious answer as she descended the steps into the basement. "I would like to speak with you for a moment." I want you to repeat after me: "Tell me." Do you remember that girl about whom I told you? You remember the one from when you were in junior high? "Remember her? It was she who gave you your masculine characteristics. "Yes. It's her once more! Do you remember when you mentioned that she was in Glendale and that she would not be seeing you in the near future? "You're right, but she did return." It's probably safe to predict that your father won't be happy about this decision. He will not allow you to focus on anyone other than Penelope throughout this conversation. You should know that he truly needs to get married. You have already granted him permission when he asked for it in the past. "Yes...but-" "But there hasn't been any kind of advancement!" I am aware of the fact that you continue to care about her, but she is not present with you at this time because she does not wish to be. Because your father is not present, I am unable to make an attempt to convince him. But there is still a chance: "Enough. I'd like it if you could, Kyle, get Alexis over here so that we can continue having this chat. But until then, I won't engage in any conversation about her! "Fine." But she does make a reasonable case. If she doesn't want me, why am I making myself go into all of this trouble? I am making an effort to persuade everyone that the cherished woman I plan to marry, Alexis, is actually Macy. When my phone rang, it was naturally Ashton and Brian at the other end of the line. I asked for the call to be moved to a larger screen, and once it was there, I used my iPad to boost the clarity of the video so that both of their faces could be seen at the same time. To address a person with the question, "How are things going, my dude?" While chewing on a turkey sandwich, Brian asked the question. "Really? Turkey?" The very idea made Ashton roll his eyes. If I could give you a smack over the phone, I very certainly would. Yeah, I did add my two cents. "Why is it that whenever we have a disagreement, it's always me who has to be the one to take the blame?" To put it another way, "Because you are the one who always seems to say something stupid." Good morning, and how are things going for you? To clarify, I am referring to "your Alexis thing." "Well. My mother and I had a conversation, and throughout it, she tried to persuade me that if Alexis truly loved me, she would be there with me at that very moment. You have caused her pain in the past, and it's possible that she is still sensitive to it. Some say that time heals all wounds, but I believe that there are some wounds that heal better with love and maybe just a little bit of time, so it's possible that she still hasn't moved on from that. This is without a doubt the most insightful remark you've ever made. Quit chatting! When my teammate Ashton and I told Brian about it, he immediately started laughing out loud. If you truly love her, there is no way you could ever give up on her. Not when you're on the verge of securing her as your girlfriend for good. It's a common belief that whatever is truly yours will eventually come back to you in some form or another. I mean, she did make it back to you, so at least there's that to take into consideration. When did you start thinking so deeply about yourself, Ash? To quote, "I've been working on my skills." "Am I losing my mind, or do you appear to be falling in love with each other?" Ashton was asked about Brian. "There has never been anyone else but this one whom I've loved." Both Brian and I said at the same time, "Jasmine, sure, we are aware of it." After we had finished, it made us laugh out loud. The consensus of the group was that "You folks are foolish." Ashelton broke into a smile. Because my father is currently on his way to the office, I have no choice but to go right away. After that, Ashton was completely silent before hanging up the phone. I just want some peace and quiet so that I can finish the turkey that's in the fridge. Find a way to earn Ash's favour. Following that, Brian ended the call by hanging up. It's unfathomable to think that every single one of my friends had a romantic past fraught with challenges. Despite the fact that I may have had certain reservations in the past, they are no longer valid. We will get together once more.
