CHAPTER ELEVEN –––––––– ELLA WOKE UP, FEELING the soft touch of Mark’s fingers on the side of her face. She opened her eyes. He was near the bed, bending over her. He brushed the hair off her face, a habit of his, and kissed her lips chastely. “Good morning, sleeping beauty. Just half an hour more and I could have said good afternoon,” he said, grinning at her. Ella smiled back, but suddenly, she remembered she should have been at work hours ago. She jumped out of bed, slightly missing his head with her shoulder. “Hey, hey, what are you doing? Where’s the damn fire?” Mark asked with bafflement, barely avoiding an elbow in his mouth. Ella had already leaped out of bed and was running into the bathroom, so she yelled back, “I should have been at work. God, what am I going to do?” Mark
