Paige’s POV
This is not going how it was supposed to go. Adrian always backs me up, and he just let me know that I am on my own. How did it get there so quickly? I guess she really did speak to him last night. Well, what happened last night in the dining room was not my fault, and I was not going to let them pin it on me. That was not going to happen.
I worked up some tears and said, “Adrian, do not believe her. She is trying to tear us apart. Her daughter is just jealous of our friendship and is using her to say the most horrible things. I do love you, but as a friend, and nothing more. I am sorry about what happened last night. But how was any of it my problem? I didn’t do anything but ask her who she was. She never identified herself to me.”
