Chapter Eighteen - Perfect wife

2230 Words
After they ate lunch, Tristan told Clara to stay at home because Genesis would be here, later on, to look after her. Clara complained for a while since she isn’t a child anymore that needs to be looked after, but Tristan insisted because there are still people looking for her. She just obliged because she didn't want to stress out her husband, she still needed more time to complete the list that she saved on her phone. After Tristan left, she was left alone inside that big house and she didn’t know what to do but to roam around and look for ingredients in the fridge. “Be sweet, making him sweet food is also considered to be sweet right?” Clara asked herself before nodding. “Alright! Let’s make sweets!” She cheered as she rolled up her sleeves and began gathering the baking supplies and ingredients she might need. Baking was also her thing, she used to do a lot of activities with her mother and father before, how she misses them so much just by doing these things. She was taught about a lot of things, a lot of housework and sometimes they even taught her to fight. No wonder she was also highly knowledgeable about escaping since her father, especially her mother, taught her how to escape dark and light. It took her a while to get ready as she was distracted by the harsh sound of the door opening and closing. Clara stopped for a moment, who could that be? She thought. Wasn’t it locked when Tristan left? Clara wondered. “Genesis? Is that you?” Clara curiously asked while mixing some cream cheese before she peered on her back. Her eyes widened after seeing a man wearing a mask, holding a gun pointed at her head, “Duck!” Clara panicked as she didn’t know who shouted, but she did crouch down. She didn’t scream when she heard the gunshot, she even complimented herself for crouching down otherwise she'd be dead at that moment. “Run to your room Ma’am Clara!” she finally discovered who warned her a while ago, it was Genesis who told her to duck. “I-Is it safe, Genesis? What’s going on?” Clara calmly asked as she started wiping her palms that’s sweating massively. “I-It’s complicated, please just do me a favor and run over there!” Clara heard a loud thud on the back, so she bit her lips before she started making her way towards the living room. She was about to climb up when she was swiftly grabbed by a hand and was harshly pushed at the back of the door. Clara grunted before opening her eyes. It's still a huge man wearing all black and has a weird smiley mask on his face. “W-What are you doing? Let me go!” Clara used her knees to kick the man who grabbed her in his groin, so he groaned in pain while he’s holding his thing. Clara exhaled a lungful of air as she ran upstairs, but her legs were grabbed by that man again that she kicked. Who the hell are these people? Are they shooting an action movie where she wasn’t informed? Tristan didn’t inform her about this. It’s impossible for people to hurt her when she didn’t do anything to them, right? Her head wasn’t in the right state to thinking straight. “I-I’m sorry! I have to go upstairs!” she raised her other leg to kick that man again who just lost consciousness. Clara desperately tried to regain the air that she had lost after she arrived upstairs, she immediately ran into her room to grab her phone to call Tristan. One ring and it was immediately answered by Tristan, “T-Tristan!” Clara shouted after she knew that he was already listening to her. [Wife? Is there something wrong?] he worriedly asked, so Clara looked at the door and securely locked it. “A-Are you shooting an action movie?” Clara curiously asked. Tristan furrowed his eyebrows on the other line. [What the hell are you talking about, wife?] Tristan answered impatiently, he’s concerned about what his wife is talking about plus the fact that she was close to hyperventilating. “G-Genesis and I are battling with people in black suits and a smiley mask, someone even shot a real gun or I’m not sure!” She explained anxiously, but she wasn’t sure if it’s real since she wasn’t looking where that gunshot went. [f**k! Luke! Leviticus!] the line was cut off, Clara panicked when she heard someone’s creating a loud thud downstairs, “G-Genesis, is he alright?” she worriedly muttered to herself, she wanted to get out but she had a gut feeling that she needed to stay inside. Are those the people of her aunt? She shrugged, why would her aunt send someone to hurt her? They’re just looking for her to force her to get married right? So what was that about? Clara was highly confused with what’s going on, but all she wants right now is an explanation from Tristan who she clearly remembered cursing a while ago and cut off their line. “Why was Tristan cursing?” she sounded a bit disappointed because she was taught not to curse by her mom, though she doesn’t have any problem with it. She gently sat at the edge of their bedroom, she roamed her eyes around and there’s nothing she could do aside from wait. A loud thud was to be heard near her door, so she wondered for a moment, “G-Genesis? Is that you?” she worriedly called. The door was slammed wide open, which made Clara jump and clutched to her chest, she freaking locked that door! She then relaxed after seeing it was Tristan who was swiftly pacing towards her. “Tristan you’re--” she gasped after he pulled her into a tight hug, “T-Tristan? Is everything alright downstairs?” “Thank God you’re alright,” he breathed before breaking their hugs against each other, not minding Clara’s statement. “The actors left and descended to hell, they got too ashamed of my handsomeness,” Raven Leviticus entered their room with a sly grin plastered on his lips. “Actors? So you were shooting an action movie?” Clara c****d her head at Raven and Tristan who just looked at each other intently. “Y-Yes wife, I’m sorry I didn’t inform you,” Tristan gripped his hands as he avoided his wife’s gaze, he doesn’t want to lie to her, but he has to for her safety. Raven Leviticus laughed, “Yes Ma’am Clara! A handsome man like me shouldn’t be away from the shootings!” he claimed, so Tristan glared at him. “And that’s my cue to go! See you later Ma’am Clara!” Raven swiftly left their room as Clara sighed in relief before resting her palms on Tristan’s chest. “Next time you have a shoot, inform me, those people were so serious!” Clara complained before touching her back. “What’s wrong? Does it hurt, wife?” Tristan worriedly asked as he paced on Clara’s back, he checked what’s wrong over there and his jaw tightened after seeing a bruise over there. “You gained a f*****g bruise wife,” Tristan gritted his teeth, so Clara reached her back that calmed him down for a moment. “O-Oh? Really? I must’ve gained that when your people harshly cornered me on the door, can you believe that? Didn’t you inform them that I’m a civilian?” she sighed before biting her lips. “Cold or hot compress would do the trick,” Tristan coldly said before he swiftly paced towards the exit of the door, “I’ll be back, wife, don’t get out first, we’ll clean up,” he informed before shutting the door closed. Clara tilted her head for a moment before sighing, her husband looked upset at what he saw, maybe he wasn’t satisfied with what she had gained? Do they have to reshoot? Clara’s thoughts were flying somewhere else again as she shook her head. Clara assumed it was shooting since she had read on the news that Tristan was acting as an actor before, it was a movie about syndicates, but that was only one time. “But there were no cameras around, could it be...it’s already planted on the ceiling?” she muttered to herself as she decided to prepare the cold compress she’ll use to ease the bruise. It doesn’t hurt that much because she was used to it. She also gained these injuries when she was training with her parents back then. She doesn’t remember that much about her childhood, but she clearly remembers those training every time she uses self-defense. Clara shrugged before sighing and started to take off her clothes to cure the bruise that was resting on her back. *** “f**k! Who the hell did that to her?!” Raven Leviticus, Julian Luke, and Genesis flinched after hearing their boss curse repeatedly while looking at the pile of dead bodies. He’s been like that ever since he went down to check on the truck where his people were about to leave because they'd finished cleaning up the mess and killed almost all of the people that’s gathering outside of their house. “U-Uh boss, may we ask what’s going on?” Julian Luke inquired, and he immediately closed his eyes when Tristan furiously glared at them. They’re used to their boss changing moods all the time especially when they're doing this work. He’s kind and caring when he’s looking at his wife, but when he’s looking at his prey, he always changes into a completely different person. “Like I said, I shouldn’t have asked,” Julian Luke raised his hands in defeat as he pushed Genesis forward. He noticed that Genesis looked like he was about to say something, so Julian Luke pushed him towards their boss. “And you, you’re supposed to look after her!” Tristan raged and was about to take out his gun when Genesis kneeled, which surprised them all. “It was all my fault, God, I was ambushed outside before I could get inside of the house, all of the guards were killed too,” Genesis informed apologetically, Tristan hissed as he ordered him to stand up. When he hears his other name in their dangerous line of work, he relaxes since he knows Genesis is telling the truth. “You better not make a mistake again because if my wife gained another bruise or scratch about this, I don’t know how I’ll deal with each and one of you,” Tristan threatened before taking out his Treasurer Luxury Black cigarette on his pockets and lighting it up with some lighter. That cost like 60 dollars because it’s made with high-quality products that only billionaires and mafia’s buy. “Ma’am Clara gained a bruise?! How could you do that to her lovely skin?!” Raven Leviticus exclaimed, so Tristan glared at him. Raven took that glare as a sign that he should shut up or his head would be goners. “Also, she’s exceptionally calm with what happened back there, I find it odd,” Genesis informed before standing up. “Of course, my wife thought it was a freaking action movie,” Tristan sounded pissed as he blew some smoke out of his mouth. Raven laughed as he remembered what he saw in their bedroom a while ago, “Yeah, it was hilarious, she was even scolding bossing because she thought he didn’t inform him about it,” he continued laughing until he heard the clicking of the gun. “Stop making fun of my wife or you’ll say goodbye tonight,” Tristan glared at Raven who immediately hid behind Julian Luke’s back. Tristan hissed as he threw his cigarette and stomped it on the bloody metal of the truck, “I want to be honest with her, but I don’t know where to start,” They overheard their boss whispering to himself as they stared at one another, “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Raven Leviticus asked Julian Luke who just nodded at him. “Do you think he’s in love again?” Raven whispered, he doesn’t want to be heard by his bossing or it’ll be his funeral. Julian Luke shrugged before smirking, “We don’t know that yet, he probably hasn't forgotten about Andrea, that was the woman who stayed with him for a long time right?” Raven Leviticus shrugged like he felt the chills, “I don’t even think she loved our boss, plus boss never wanted to be honest with her unlike now,” he added before fixing his hair. “Whatever, let’s just see where these two would end up, isn’t that right, Genesis?” Julian Luke glanced at Genesis who’s just idly standing on the edge of the entrance. He nodded, which made Julian Luke smirk, he knows something about Clara that he doesn’t want anybody yet to know. And what Genesis told their boss a while ago might be one of the pieces of evidence that Clara might also be part of something he’s still about to find out sooner. To be continued…
