Lucky’s Point of View
“I dunno if I’m ready for all this” I said as I looked at Dylan though the glass wall on the patio while Danny did a quick run down the beach to make sure no mortals we’re around before Dylan and Rebecca joined us outside.
“I don’t know if I am either” Rowan said, “I’ve only seen her do short, small bursts.”
“If my suspicions are right, we’re all going to have our mind blown” Danny said matter-of-factly.
“Alright little one,” Rebecca looked at Dylan, “on your mark, get set…GO!” And Dylan was gone, and when I tell you gone, I mean gone. However fast Danny moved last night, he looked like a turtle compared to Dylan.
“Brava! Brava!” Danny clapped and shouted as she zoomed by us again. “Let’s see how fast she is” Danny said while we waited for her to zoom by again, he ran with her as she passed. He was at least a full 2 seconds behind her on her next pass.
“Holy s**t!” Rowan said as Danny stopped in front of us.
“Holy s**t is right!” Danny said as we watched her pass again. “Both of you do a lap with her. You really can’t appreciate her speed until you run with her.” Rowan and I jumped in as she zoomed again, she lapped us before we even came close to catching up with her. On her last pass she straightened her body and flew through the air, her body looked like a spear as she tackled Rowan, she rolled his big ass almost half a football field down the beach. Danny’s entire demeanor changed after he watched her do that.
“Dylan, love, do that to me” he said as she and Rowan walked back to where we were.
“Be careful what you ask for” Rowan looked dazed to say the least. She backed up a bit and gave Danny what he asked for. She helped Danny to his feet as they all turned and looked at me.
“Ah, c’mon” I said” I can see with my own eyes, why do I have to get the s**t knocked out of me too?” They all just stared at me. “Alright, fine. I know this is gonna be…” The next thing I knew she was tossing me around like a spin cycle in a washing machine. Then she ran up the back of me and balanced herself on my shoulders, on one foot no less. “You’re just showing off now” I laughed as I walked back to the group with her standing on my shoulder.
“Let’s go sit, we need to talk some more” Danny said.
“Let’s stay outside, Rowan and I have been couped up in our room all day.”
“We can do whatever you like but come down off Lucky’s shoulder.” she glided off my shoulder and did backflips all the way up to the house with Danny and Rebecca encouraging her.
“Brother,” I said, “I mean no disrespect, but have you two had s*x since she turned?”
“Uh uh, what do you think she’s going to do to me?” He had a huge smile as he watched her flip.
“I dunno, but you’re not going to walk right for a week brother.”
Rowan’s Point of View
I explained to everyone how I seemed to be able to help Dylan’s pain when she had it and asked Rebecca how that was possible.
“My best guess would be because you truly are bonded to each other, you are a part of her as much as she is a part of you. You are very soothing and comforting to her and as you know her feelings are amplified, even more so than all of yours.” Rebecca nodded at all of us, “her connection to you and how you make her feel overrides her pain. My advice would be to give your wife what she wants” Rebecca laughed.
“See, you should give me what I want Rowan!” Dylan jumped up and held herself against my chest. Again.
“Oh my word!” Danny said as he looked at the way she balanced on my hips.
“This has been her favorite thing to do today” I smiled at her. Danny laughed and shook his head.
“Dylan, love. You need to learn how to harness your strength and speed, and I, my dear am going to be the one to train you” Danny nonchalantly mentioned. Dylan didn’t think anything of it but Lucky and I were floored.
“Say that again” I said, I couldn’t believe what he just said.
“That’s f****d up brother” Lucky said as he gave him the side eye. Danny had outright refused to ever share or teach anything Akito had taught him.
“I don’t understand how it is that either of you are surprised by this” Danny huffed at us. “Who else, other than Akito could properly train her to use her gifts? However, since Akito is not here, I will do it since I was the only one, that I’m aware of anyway, that Akito passed on his knowledge and expertise to.”
“Danny is right,” Rebecca pointed out, “Dylan needs to be properly trained and Danny is the only one that can do that, but I would like to be invited to some of the sessions, if that’s alright.”
“Fantastic! We start training tomorrow night!” Danny clapped his hands.
“Tomorrow night!? Don’t you think that’s a little soon? Her senses haven’t even fully turned on yet!” I argued.
“I’m sorry Rowan, but Danny is right again.” Rebecca added, “The sooner she starts to train the sooner her powers will unlock, I think we can all agree that the sooner she stands in her power the safer she will be. We have no way of knowing when this fight will come but understand that it will come. Dylan needs her legs under her when it does.”
“f**k” I said as I slumped down in a chair with Dylan still on me.
“I guess when you put it like that” Lucky agreed.
“Will someone please tell me who Akito is?” Dylan asked.
“Rebecca,” Danny nodded towards her, “you knew him first, you should have the honors.”
“Ah, my Akito” Rebecca looked off in the distance “Akito was a very handsome and a very powerful samurai in the early 18th century. Although all samurai are all expert swordsman and trained in the combat technique of ‘Daito-ryu Aiiki-jujutsu’, Akito was a legend among them, even before he was turned. He was poisoned by a jealous samurai, he figured if Akito was out of the way then he would become as respected as Akito was. Unfortunately for him, things did not go according to plan, Akito was able to kill him before he got too weak. Then, like the true warrior he was, he wandered out to the woods to die alone. That also did not go as planned, a man from the village that Akito was from had been turned many years prior, but not before Akito saved his life from an invasion, so to return the favor he found Akito in the woods and offered him eternal life. Akito was a very noble man and choose only to use his powers for good, to help and defend those that needed it. Akito turned 5 people, he killed 3 of them because they used what powers he passed on to them and the skills he taught them in ways Akito did not like, for instance, personal gain. Danny was the last person he turned and his final student.”
“Wow! What happened to him?” Dylan was on the edge of my lap, taking it all in.
“No one knows” Danny’s voice cracked. “One day he disappeared. I searched for him for years, Rowan even helped for some of that time, but we never found a trace of him. There is nothing and no one that I know of that would have the capabilities to kill Akito. Rebecca, do you know where he is? Or even if he’s alive?”
“No, Danny, I’m sorry. I don’t.” Rebecca said sadly, “But I believe if anything would make him come forward, if he is alive, it would be the storm that is brewing. When was the last time you were in danger?”
“Pfftt. At least a century” Danny sounded smug, but he was right. Danny might have been the smallest but he’s by far the most dangerous and him training Dylan would make her an unstoppable force. “That settles it then, Dylan, I will pick you up tomorrow at nightfall and take you to where I train, it’s nothing like a gym these two Neanderthals use. Rowan, you cannot come.”
“What!?” What do you mean I can’t come?” I was not happy, at all.
“Look, I’m sorry but for the time being you can’t be there. I need her to focus, and she can’t concentrate the way I need her to with you there.”
“He has a point baby” Dylan played with my hair to get me to relax. “You’re just so damn sexy!”
“Plus, that frees up your time so you can get things done. You’ll be able to work and run any errands that you can’t do now, helping Dylan.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right” I reluctantly agreed.
“It’s not until the end of time Rowan, it’s just for right now. That’s the same thing I told Scarlett” Danny said, “who I’m sure is chomping at the bit waiting for a Facetime call from her best friend.”
