Ember (POV)
I opened the door and walked out of my room. The moment my foot stepped through the door I felt my anxiety start. Sam and Xavier must have felt it too, because they were both by my side in seconds.
Xavier took my right side and wrapped his arm around my waist, while Sam took my left side and flung his arm over my shoulder. I felt my anxiety calm down the moment they touched me. Xavier didn't seem upset that Sam had his arm around my shoulder. Maybe he was OK with me and Sam's bond. His mother, on the other hand, didn't look happy at all.
Xavier didn't say anything, he just held me tight and walked me over to meet his mom. With Sam still by my side with his arm around my shoulder.
