Chapter Seven: What Did You Say?

817 Words
Alexei's POV I was in the middle of working when I felt her wake up. I wouldn't have known if she wasn't bonded to me. I felt her pain the second she woke up; I was now going down to the infirmary so get some more morphine to help ease her pain. Walking in a past the people working, I went over to the medicine that was placed in a shelf that has glass windows to it. "My King, need help finding something you like?" A young female nurse asked, her tone full of s****l desire. Normally if offered I would go off into a closet and get it over with, but for the past few days I can't seem to get a rise from any advance from a woman. "No not today, and this isn't for me." I smirked at her, giving he the idea I was already with someone, and we just wanted something from here to help lengthen the experience. With a pout on her thin lips, she rushed away after her name was called. Her blonde hair was up in curls and being held up in a ponytail, so as she walked away her curls bounced. After grabbing what I came for I grabbed a needle then left the room. I slipped the meds into my pocket as I went back up the stairs. I could hear my father speaking to my mother on the phone while she was in Russia, doing business. When one was away for a long timeframe, I have to hear them on the phone constantly. Once at the top I made a mental note to open a window in the room. Fevers on anyone not a Vampire or Werewolf was crazy to feel through a bond. My wife Mila, she was a Vampire like me and the only time she was ever sick was because of the pregnancy. An odd sensation hit me right as my sensitive hearing heard someone scream. Going further down I could hear crying before I even made it to the door that belonged to Avery's room. Upon getting there I found the door was locked. "Who locked this door!??" I asked angrily. And where was Marcus? I banged on the door but only got cries as a response. Pulling out the set of keys I had just got this moment she screamed again. "Alexei it's Carter-" Her voice was muffled before she could finish what she was saying. I snarled and nearly broke the key in the lock to get it open. There's no way that man had balls enough to show up here. After getting a serious headache glass shattering was heard and I had just barely opened the door as I saw him jump from the window. I ran over to try and catch him but it was too late, he got down faster than I thought he would've. "LOCK DOWN THE CASTLE AND CLOSE THE MAIN GATES!" I ordered. I punched the wall and turned around to glare at the culprit. The first thing I noticed was the bruise forming on the side of her head. I hated how concerned that made me, she was meant to be my enemy not someone who I worry for like I did my wife. "Stupid f*****g spell." I groaned as I went over and sat down beside her. I shouldn't feel the attraction that I have everytime I see her, she was still a kid and that bothered me more than anything else. And the scent of how pure she was was making it harder to be near her like this. But as I recalled, she screamed for me when Carter was in here. Why? Did she fear him? She and her brother in that picture didn't seem like enemies, more like friends or family. "What happened? I only went to feed for five minutes." Marcus asked nervously from the door. "Your feeding privileges are being revoked until I see fit." I said while placing a cloth to the side of Avery's head. Her ear was bleeding a little bit that was probably from the force of the hit she received. Damn werewolves never cared how much stronger they were compared to others, would hit anyone who looks at them funny because of how territorial and dominant their species is. "What did you say to invoke such a reaction, little pet hmm?" I questioned while brushing her cheek with the pad of thumb. It wasn't until someone had cleared their throat that I realized I was being drawn in to her features. I quickly removed my hands away from her and got up from the bed. "Mark, make sure all is well before returning to your post. I have a puppy to go chase down." I told him as I went past and out of the room before he could utter a reply.
